Nice video! One thing though, it's not recommended to use AutoPlugin to install plugins, we've had to help multiple persons that were having issues with it: -the app has a tendency to corrupt or write improper config files. You might have multiple *KERNEL lines in your config file for example, and this could lead to plugins not working correctly or even slowing down your system. - AutoPlugin also bundles every plugin in it's archive instead of downloading them from the internet. And while this has the advantage of not needing an internet connection to install plugins, it means that AutoPlugin has to become bigger in size and be updated regularly. In most cases, AutoPlugin will probably install an older version of a particular plugin because it might take a while to update. - AutoPlugin doesn't prevent people from installing incompatible plugins, and doesn't always install the required dependencies for it, this could screw people. Of course, it's easy to recover if you know how to but that's the problem, most people don't know they have to hold L to not load plugins. - Even if AutoPlugin is open-source, it relies on a closed-source interpreter of Lua (OneLua) that breaks Lua's license. You might use EasyPlugin for the plugins on vitadb, though, you'd still have to install some of them manually. It is recommended to learn how to make a proper config file and install them yourself so you can have a stable experience while having the latest plugin versions.

Some of the most useful retro based content right here. I don't have a PSV but I got one for my brother years ago so it's nice to know I could point him in your direction if he wanted to do anything like this. Kind of sad to see the same old stuff really, developers in their rush to maximise 'profit' instead subtly killing off their own interest, never seems to change somehow obvious as it seems. You'd be forgiven for thinking they never wanted to make games at all let alone sell them. One thing to add is that backing up and restoring games to the same Vita is possible with an offical PC program called Content Manager Assistant, or to a PS3, but of course that still has DRM, so if that Vita fails and the servers are shutdown, it'll be impossible for the official methods to obtain the licenses and allow the game restorations. Stable emulation depends on lot on the hardware used. The reason N64 emulation still has a lot of issues is because it's hardware is hard to emulate (and apparently because there's not been a lot of interest in making it work for every game). Same goes for PS3 to an extent. PS3 has special processor cores that are really good at certain types of math (vector math if memory serves) and can do things in real time that even modern processors can't but they were so difficult to use that relatively few PS3 games actually utilized said cores. I imagine in the case of the PS3 you could potentially use a lookup table and approximations (close estimates that are good enough to not be noticeable) to emulate those cores well enough. Switch emulation is apparently good (I've not tried it myself) because the hardware used is closer to what modern computers use and is well understood/documented.

Thanks to Sony, I've CFW'ed my Vita slim, along with my CECH-2101B PS3. Waiting for my SD2VITA and 256GB micro SD to arrive to go all in. The ability to stream PS1 and PS3 backups from my Raspberry Pi 4 media server with a 12TB drive with Webman and ps3netsrv is game changing. The news also motivated me buy an IDE to SATA kit for my network adapter, 2TB drive, HD Retrovision component cable, RetroTINK 2X M, and an mClassic for my fat PS2. I'm going to go all in with that too and completely restore it to like new with cleaning.

Did this mid last year and it was the best thing I did for the Vita. I did the same. I downloaded all my legitimate purchases and made backups on an external hard drive. Then I hacked the Vita and migrated what I wanted to two 256gb microsds. One for Vita games, the other for PSP games.

Thank you so much. I have been using the official Content Manager to back up my Vita games to PC, but I hadn't realised that when Vita PSN accounts eventually stop working, I might not be able to use my backups. I'm already hacked so your info here is just the ticket. It's ironic that hacking the Vita (to get that MicroSD storage capacity) is what's allowed me to spent legit money on the store - before the hack I was just gonna buy used game carts which obviously doesn't send any revenue to Sony/devs/publishers etc!

Great video. I'm getting a 2DS and a Vita soon. Vita looks like the best handheld ever made and I'm really excited to jump in. I am happy that modders got the Gta trilogy on Vita and can't wait to play them. God Of War Collection is the main reason I'm getting and modding Vita. Two of my favorite games of all time that I've 100%ed quite a few times. I remember not playing God Of War in many years and still finding all of the collectibles and Zeus's Muse Keys.

I used to be so against modding and piracy for the sake of the developers. That said, when it comes to modern releases, I still am against piracy. I like to buy every game that I am interested in to support the devs as best I can. But when you have a company like Sony that is so blatantly against supporting their old platforms (however small the fanbase may be), it makes it really difficult to steer clear of these types of exploits, especially when it comes to being able to access the content you paid for. Another issue is the lack of availability for some of these games anywhere else, and I like many others may miss out because it doesn't pique our interest at the time, but later on may be a huge missed opportunity to play some awesome titles. What Sony is doing right now is exactly why so many of us still cling to physical media. At least with a physical disc/cartridge it is up to me whether the stuff lasts or not. Awesome video!

I just learned a few days ago that you can legitimatelly back-up your individual Vita games on your PC (or PS3) over USB or Wi-Fi connection using Vita's built-in Content Manager. No mods required and no Internet required (after transferring the games to your PC) and you can easily transfer games back and fort either individually or together. I was surprised how effortlessly it all works.
@middle_pickup3 жыл бұрын
You're partially incorrect. You can backup your games, but it does require an internet connection at some point in that process to authenticate them. This is effectively DRM. At some point the game will reach out to a Sony server for authentication. This is probably after installing the game from a backup, actually backing up the game to your PC, or maybe even both. Either way though, expecting Sony's servers to stay online forever is a bad idea. After those servers get pulled offline, that's it for your digital purchases. The only fix would be for Sony to push a software update that removes all DRM from their games, and I doubt that would ever happen.

One quick remark, i have a 512gb micro sd running on my vita & 1tb powered usb external hard drive on my ps vita tv. The vita is an excellent device to play ps1, psp & psv games, you can do so much more but the main focus for me is the above. Another great thing about a hacked vita is the fact that any ps1 & psp game thats never been available on the ps store can be run through adrenaline and you can even create bubbles for them.
