Sad to see Shane in this state, one of the most iconic singer songwriters of a generation. I first saw The Pogues in the early 80's. OK this video isn't The Pogues, but the is how we all know and love the man. The last time I saw Shane live was 2012 and he looked and sounded OK considering his demons and health. In that 20 years I must have seen them more than two dozen times, including when the late great Joe Stummer fronted the band and a stint by Spider Stacy, but The Pogues needed MaGowan.

@willferris366 Жыл бұрын
@@jacobfiil5918I absolutely agree..As I just said elsewhere here this band, knowing Shane's habits, should have been familiar enough with the songs to help him out more when he was trying and known the lyrics well enough to perform the songs after he had to leave.. I could have done better in that context just from being a singer and a fan of his writing .. these band members manage nothing but rattling out the notes.. I'm just nearly finished Richard Balls' biography of Shane.. In the light of that it's pretty amazing he even got on the stage over many of his years..I saw him and the Pogues during the late 80s and was never disappointed.. It's at this point that you know that something more profound, more tragic and desperate is happening with the guy at the mic. He's gone way beyond having a good time and getting wasted with the band... There's lonely, sad drunkenness, and the guy so desperately needed someone, anyone to just say ...stop. 'Stop, Shane, and I'll help you.' Those words could have changed his life forever, but he never seemed to ever hear them. May we all learn something about alcoholism, Shane, and ourselves from watching this mans desperation in public that he lived for so many years. Rest in Peace dear beautiful Shane. I love the Pogues and Niel Diamond...but that Cracklin Rose is both unexpected and not very good at all. Sad to say..but RIP Shane, writer of some of the most exquisite songs I know.

This is The Popes not The Pogues. He was fired from The Pogues in 91.

Shane is FUBAR and nobody cares, don't glorify his drug abuse.

I just put this on to remind myself of how absolutely and undoubtedly shite they were. My celtic supporting pals played their crap and got drunk, they never ever listened to them sober, ever, you still won't get anyone walking about with ghd pogues on in their earphones for example because they're shite- it's all about claiming you belong to Ireland and letting everyone hear it even though it is shite- the pogues themselves summed up in a sentence.
