there was a Volcanion distribution event outside of Japan, at least in the United States. i distinctly remember going to a Gamestop back during XY's lifespan and getting a Volcanion code and the employee there handing me 2 on accident and telling me to just keep the second one, which i gave to my friend. i still have that Volcanion and even that code card to this day

@@TheMarioBBB He created Lugia while going through an extremely tough and depressing time which was heavily fueled by substance and alcohol abuse while simultaneously writing for the early Pokemon anime seasons. While going throught serious bouts of depression, he saw Lugia as his child and a motivating factor to continue. However, he was often creatively restricted by the producers in how he could not only write the show, but Lugia itself, further upsetting him and causing him to spiral further. Unfortunately, he he never completed his most contemporary season due to his death as a result of his his tragic situation. DidYouKnowGaming did a really good video on him and the creation of Lugia. Minky Momo is an old magical girl anime from the early 80's which later grew to have an infamous reputation as the anime abruptly ends with Momo (the main character) getting hit by a truck and presumably dying. That finale and sequel finale also aired during Japan's Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995 and another earthquake. Such coinciding events led to the phenomenon being called the "Curse of Minky Momo."

He also very much wanted Lugia to have a female voice actress, because he envisioned it as a "mother of the sea" sort of thing. I disagree on the kabutops=genesect theory. Several dex entries clarify Team Plasma modified the cannon on its back rather than completely overhauling the Pokémon. The entry also implies Genesect already had a cannon on its back, which would explain why it'd have been an apex predator back then if it had a more advanced hunting adaptation than its contemporary predators like kabutops whod be using physical traits like claws and teeth to hunt. Plus there's no typing overlap at all. Looking at genesect the cannon comes out of its shell which lines up with the shape of its head. It looks like originally they were supposed to fit together and likely the shell would hide the cannon until it was being used making it a a possible ambush predator but the Team Plasma mod keeps it permanently out as the muzzle of the cannon is a different color than the shell and extends over the head.

I hate that we have reduced ADHD down to " have ADHD. Therefore, can't communicate, and I'm mentally slow, but I know alot. That I can't recall, but I swear I know" I was diagnosed when I was 4yo, decades ago. I am over communicative, and I recall everything. Every minor detail. I'm never zoned out, I'm like a librarian on speed. Unfortunately for my friends, who I appreciate deeply for this, I dominate all conversations. I can't help it and they let me, bless them. A lot of people like to mix up ADD and ADHD. Although, we do live in the day and age of sel diagnosis so it's only natural that people would misdiagnose themselves. Either that or these very narrow boxes that we like to define people by have become so small that if you have "insert diagnosis" then you have to be just like another person with the same diagnosis instead of realising that we are still individuals.

I dont see an issue with a flareon dying in the fire. You drink water but if you fell into a huge body of water eventually you would drown. Im sure even a creature with the ability to absorb the power of fire has its limits in lore and not in game mechanics.

58:00 the Pokemon not in Pokeballs thing... the games and anime both have the idea of "friend" pokemon, IE pokemon that aren't summoned into battle via balls, but rather just hang out in your house or whatever. This seems to be the same but on larger scale. People live with pokemon, but don't use the Capsule corp system since they're not League trainers.

my theory regarding the alola mega evolution dex entries is that the war of kalos was between kalos and alola, which is why alola is so underdeveloped, and more relevantly: kalos was very clear about how mega evolution works, alola's megas describe the exact opposite, i think that alola saw the power kalos had in the war due to their bonds with their pokemon, and alola tried to replicate mega evolution and mostly succeeded, but it was flawed, it came out of desperation in a futile war instead of a trainer's bond, so they force the pokemon to mega evolve instead of it being natural, causing said pain, aka, the power of friendship✨ being wholesome vs dominance(?) being torturous also mixing in some long-standing propaganda towards kalos as well, "look at those evil people abusing their pokemon"

The answer to Pikachu level reset is that the anime doesn't have levels. Pokemon randomly evolve all the time mid fight in the anime. It's purely a game mechanic. It's also good writing to have your characters over cone challenges. Pikachu one shooting everyone with thunderbolt isn't fun for anyone

Well, one of the theories I heard going around was that Ivy didn't want an actual romantic relationship with Brock, instead she wanted him to knock her up so she could have kids, but had no interest in him as an actual romantic partner. This fan theory was based on very scant clues, but does have what I think to be workable logic to it. 1: we know that the anime isn't gonna come out as SAY what it was if it's related to a failed romance. 2: it's not as simple as "she said no"... there got to be weird extenuating circumstances. 3: Brock was apparently living with her for a while. 4: Brock's behavior tells us it was emotionally traumatic.... but there's no indication of why Brock found it so traumatic. Which fits with the idea they self-censored to not talk about sex. But what would be so traumatic that Brock didn't want to talk, while also not being serious enough for legal actions? Yeah that's a fun quandry.
