But after losing, Adam forces Gramps to release his control over everyone. He does so, freeing Damian, who chooses to stay in the Dream Realm to help Adam

Insurgence really does have an edgy, over the top complex story. Even so, it has a special place in my heart since I met so many friends through the community back before the game was completed. And as the person who originally designed the "lord" outfits, as well as made the sprite work for the short hair option for the female player character, it makes me smile to see content creators using the assets that I helped make in their play throughs.

For anyone curious if you should check out this fangame - yes, absolutely From a gameplay perspective there is so much that wasn’t in this video or even his vods, from a story perspective there’s still a lot more, the dex includes *everything* up to gen 6(?), plus the new delta mons, *plus* new megas (spoiler: primals are sick), *PLUS* mechanics like armor, a bunch of quests for cool stuff and mons, a ton of stuff The raw amount of collecting there is to do in this game is insane, I’ve wanted to 100% it but it’s genuinely so daunting lol there is just so much to do

Also, even if there wasn't a way to get rid of the edginess, no, it would not be even mildly comparable to any other fan game. @@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 For what it's worth, the "edge" in this game isn't that prevalent compared to a good number of other Pokemon fangames, it was more or less highlighted for this video. The edge takes place for maybe...20% of the game? Of course that's not to say that this game doesn't have problems: the level curve is wild (there's a way to negate it but that doesn't make it good design still), if you aren't a competitive player anything above Easy is going to be a rough time, and it does use stock (? I know I've heard some of it in other RPGMaker games for certain) RPGMaker music (most notably in the Black Market), which can feel a little unoriginal. I do think that the Pokemon variety, the challenge of the boss fights, and the Deltas are all very quality, and the writing in the library at least shows there was care and effort in the game, and a slight understanding onto why Pokemon is so fun, more so than Uranium in my opinion. It sure as hell ain't no Reborn that's for certain, which is a game that actively hates you and when people discover a game-breaking strategy, they'll just patch it out. It's the same problem I have with Radical Red: if you don't use the strategy the devs intended, it'll be patched out soon after, and I think this came about when some nuzlockers or something called it "too easy", which is an extremely shitty mentality.

Also, you can just up and break the game at beginning by choosing torchic or froakie. A decent bit of reborn's difficulty probably just comes from its emphasis on scripted/special encounters since the early game has normal wild encounters restricted. Same here! It was my very first fan made rom/Pokémon game that I ever played and was playing it after sword and shield. It was a whiplash to say the to least. Also, you might consider checking out the post-game - there's an unreal amount of genuinely interesting and fun stuff to do.

The gritty cult atmosphere of the early Shin Megami Tensai or Devil Summoner games, without the 80's and 90's street punk style to tie it down, and without the good sense to maintain energy and never look back after Thor orders the US government to nuke Japan under the direct command of God himself. It's a subtle thing. Pulling that style off, and making it look and feel good is far more difficult than it looks.

Dude, I honestly wouldn’t have minded a multi-part video series. It would have made it a lot easier to organize the plot (I.e you could have made each cult its own part or whole video.) In all seriousness, though, this was a fantastic video! Huge respect for how well you managed to summarize the awfully complex story of this game into one video. Side note: the postgame is literally just the other half of this game. Also, I vaguely remember you knowing of this, but in case you didn’t, there is a level trainer NPC that you can use to quickly level up Pokemon fast. Also, there’s a really easy way to farm money to pay for it. If you continue playing, please for the love of god use it lol.

I think it’s also better writing. Ghetsis manipulating N into becoming Champion so that he could make the region release all their Pokémon or Lusamine almost killing Cosmog so she could be with the Nihilego were way more interesting then Cyrus’ or Lysandre’s genocide plots just because of how much better written they were. That being said, BW and SM are some of the darker Pokémon games so it definitely helps.

If it wasn't obvious to those watching Crow skipped like 50% or even more of the story and actual content of the game to the point he didn't mention very important characters and plot points. So if you haven't played the game yourself then please don't try and judge the games writing or content through this video that Crow himself expressed multiple times in said video was a nightmare to cram into 40+ minutes. Insurgence is a great game with many quality of life features and heeps of content that will keep you busy for hours with a great story and characters. For those that don't like dark tones or what the internet calls "edgy" there is actually a feature that let's you change the story to a traditional pokemon story with nothing about deaths or cults although I haven't played it and don't know how good it is since the darker story is way more interesting and if I wanted a traditional pokemon story I would play an offical pokemon game but that's just me.

The work put into this fangame is amazing. I'd love to play this for myself at some point, but I don't really do pc gaming, preferring rom hacks because they can be played on original hardware. @@TopOfAllWorlds Pointcrow actually got some of the story wrong in this or just didn't go over some parts at all, the main villains each have their own motivations for doing what they're doing and I feel like he just skips over all of that. Like, for instance, Nyx actually shows a huge amount of regret for doing what she does to you and your world but she knows that there's no other way to set things right and so she apologises to you over and over before the fight. Honestly, that's one of the best written villains I've ever seen in any pokemon game, fanmade or not because you actually feel bad for them and (at least in my case) didn't actually want things to end that way.
