To be fair, they were initially for liability and very much still are. Large amounts of documentation (in this case video) is good for insurance when you're in the right and Ron is super careful. There might even be a discount for having footage.

“people are just idiots” very true sir. I have been a pro driver 36 years and thats a true statement. However, if they weren’t, you would be out of a job. 😉😉
@calvinbarnes17213 жыл бұрын
As a fellow pro driver, the first part is very true. the second? Professionals will always have work, and even the best driver can make mistakes or have a bad day. Not a criticism, without the idiots it wouldn't be a full time job. Like pulling over for a flat and the shoulder being softer than it looked and getting stuck (that was a bad morning). Thinking on it, can we leave the bad drivers in the ditch? Please?
@bailey1253 жыл бұрын
I'm not a pro driver, but I have common sense. It amazes me how careless and nonchalant many drivers are. I live in a country that doesn't really get that bad weather, but when we do I see many people driving as fast as normal. I also see quite a few drivers driving far to slow too (like 25mph in a 60mph) even when the weather is not too bad which is also very dangerous. (and I'm talking normal cars not trucks)
@nancyogard67223 жыл бұрын
I came across these videos by accident. I have to admit that I was bored (covid 19 bored, stuck at home) & youtube serfing. What I thought when I first saw what had happened I wondered how is this guy going to take care of this. It looked impossible so I had to keep watching & Mr Ron Pratt is amazing. Thank goodness for these modern technology has sure helped. The weather conditions aren't always the best. Now I'm hooked watching. It isn't the safest job. I have a son who is a truck driver & one a police officer so watch I see on TV hits to close to home.. Just be safe out there, so many crazy drivers..

Thank you for sharing your experiences and providing invaluable information for new and experienced tow truck operators, and also for the rest of us. I found one of your videos recently and now am slowly working through your past videos. I live in south-east Queensland, Australia. We have a sub-tropical to intermediate climate and while I have snow skied in a southern state, I haven't experienced snow and ice like you worked through in this and other videos. In Queensland, snow is very rare and only falls at high altitudes in a couple of our southern areas. Please continue to take care and enjoy your family and life.

Ahhh! White gold! Every time it snows, it snows money for the recovery industry. So when you see it snowing, the mantra is: mo money, mo money, mo money. Busy times but as the farmers say, make hay while sun shines. In the recovery business it's, make sales when the snow flies! I'm from Southern Ontario, Canada and we're all too used to that weather. Lately though our weather has gone south and now we're experiencing your weather this season and believe you me, I'm sorry you have to endure that weather but it sure feels good to have sunny skies and 40 degree weather this time of year. Keep up the good work and may the good Lord keep a hedge of protection around y'all working in that nasty weather, God bless! 8)

IDEA: Re-route some of the engine exhaust to the winch and PTO to keep it from freezing up. (obviously, a project for when you're not busy.)
@givenfirstnamefamilyfirstn39352 жыл бұрын
And soak it with cooled water vapour in freezing conditions, half of the burned fuel molecules are CO2, half are H2O. Perhaps a heat exchanger?
@tonyosier61682 жыл бұрын
I see you are thinking and applaud you for trying to be problem solving, so don't take offense to this, but I can tell you don't live in a cold state. Up here in MN when the temps drop below zero, the area around the tailpipe is all frosty from the exhaust moisture. Frost will climb all the way up a pickup's tailgate. His winch would be frost covered that way.

Hi Ron, my wife are from Warren, Pennsylvania and we really enjoy watching and learning (from the couch):) lol all your videos . We like how you organize yourself and the gang and are respectful to everyone. I also like the methodology in which you approach most situations. Could I offer some advice? You had mentioned about the winch getting frozen. I am a mechanic and also a machinist by trade. I have a small tractor with a winch mounted on it and spray the cable and spool with FLUID FILM. I leave it outside in the rain and it does not rust or freeze. I use that stuff on everything from battery terminals to electrical contacts, connectors and anything that is subject to corrosion or rust. The best rust preventive and lubricant I have ever used and also if something needs worked on just simply wipe it off!!! It leaves a film on those areas. So I would use it in conjunction with your wire rope lubricant. On a different note: My wife and I are planning on a trip to Missouri in the next year or so to check out some resorts and would love to stop by the shop and maybe catch you and the crew. Take care and MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
