It’s really hard to pick a best album because Taylor is an eras girl, every album is different from the next. If you want country teenage girl with unexpectedly strong lyrics, any of her first three will do. “Red” (in my opinion one of her best) is that break up album with pop anthems for your highs and devastating ballads for your lows. “Reputation” (a fan favorite) is a come back from the dead, it’s harsh and badass and sounds nothing you’d expect from her, if you wanna have a main character moment, that’s your soundtrack to it. “Folklore” and “Evermore” are alternative poetry. It’s to feel your emotions, get lost in stories and exquisite lyricism. “Midnights” is your pop synth vibe for your sleepless nights. My personal top three are Red, Reputation and Folklore, but unlike many artists, there’s no bad or skip album with Taylor, so you could just spin a wheel and see where it takes you!

This is a great reaction!! Great way to start getting into Taylor. I would go with "reputation" or " midnights" next but honestly I have been a fan since her first album and I can never choose one that is my favorite. Also if you want a fast track to the understanding Taylor Swift and where she is today, I would recommend watching her 2020 Documentary "Miss Americana" (before the Pandemic hit). It will give you history up to 2019.....then you will get into music after the pandemic "folklore" "evermore". Also anyone can be a swiftie at any time lol. Ps. That 1st song welcome to newyork is a grower. You realise its got meaning as it is her moving to new york.. a new soundtrack is her turning into a POPstar. Changing Genres, leaving country completely behind. Where she grew and changed herself in every way. Her hair, her image, her behaviours. Including surrounding herself with more women and prioritising friendship love to feel happy rather than a relationship (true love) she's always been searching for. Untill the media started to really attack.. thats where Blank Space comes in. She is a performer. So she plays with characters aswell, that's why it almost sounds like theatre. She changed her fashion. That's where she puts in STYLE. A song that also sounds like it can be on a runway but it isn't about Style n fashion . it's about Harry ( after him she chose to be single for a year) also putting her classic Red Lip in it💄 then the songs take a turn... about what love really is. Out of the woods is a song about constant anxiety of not knowing whats going on. The climax at the end of that is everything! With all them sounds coming together like that. Also POLAROIDS were a massive part of her this era. She mentions that in the songs. I love Wonderland. The way it sounds and the way she sings it and the lyrics sounds like what WONDERLAND would sound like. She's just genuis. Then she creates a heartbreak anthem with New Romantics.

Taylor once said she would never make her next album sound like the last one, other than folklore and evermore, which she put out 5 months apart during the pandemic, she calls them sister albums, and she has done so. Taylor is a genre-bender, she likes to experiment with different sounds. I recommend Reputation it is the album after this one. Reputation came out after Kanye West and Kim K. tried to make Taylor out a liar. Kanye called Taylor about a song he was writing and told her there would be some lyrics about her, Kanye recorded that call (illegally). When the song Famous came out, the lyrics "I made that b!tch famous" Taylor objected and said she didn't know about that lyric. So, Kim and Kanye edited the tape and then posted it on social media calling her a liar and a snake, the hate became too much for Taylor and she disappeared for a year. When she came back it was with Reputation, the song "Look What You Made Me Do" basically spilling the tea on Kanye, also "This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" is about him, all Taylor wanted was to be friends with Kanye, the lyrics, get you on the phone and mind twist you, is about that call. A few years ago someone leaked the whole unedited tape showing who the real; liars and snakes were.
