Modern music: A fixed key? No thanks. Electronic music: *I CAN DO ANYTHING*

Very interesting. I would highly appreciate it if you could maybe put the list of composers and musical examples in the video info so one could copy it instead of having to go back and forth to type it out again. It just seems redundant and like a unecessary obstacle for people who are interested. Anyway, doesn't take anything away from your very interesting, dense and informative video. /edit: Oh wow, and it really pays to go through your list of musical examples. Zwillich and Saariaho are two new discoveries for me that I'm definitely gonna dig into. Thank you!

It isn't gear acquisition syndrome, I'm pursuing the expansion of postmodern classical music. Yes, there's always a reason for more eurorack modules.

Total serialism, especially Boulez and Stockhausen are very much opposed to the American post-modernism, and can therefore not be seen as post-mondernist music. They can rather be seen in line with Schönberg, Berg and Webern. Electronic music was heavily developed by Stockhausen, so generalising it as being post-modern does not do it justice. Post-modernism (especially in music) developed in opposition to total serialism, therefore total serialism cannot be seen as post-modern.

Total serialism is passe modernism, actually. Totally left out by contemporary music.

To be honest, I don’t think the 20th century should be divided in half into 2 separate eras. I think it should all be considered the Modern era since the drive to push the bounds of music through constant experimentation never went away or really changed.

I agree. I think the postmodern era start around 1960 or so

For me, the absolute howler was the definition of postmodernism at the beginning.
