All of the men (and women) in my life who were supposed to love, care for, and protect me at any level were either abusive or held back, and continue to hold back. The holding back goes far in reinforcing the self-blame. If I got a nickel every time throughout my life someone said, "Oh, but he (or she) really is a good person," often adding something to the effect of, "You weren't exactly a perfect child (person, wife, etc.)," I could make change for the world. I am finally learning that being able to understand and empathize with another person's "why" doesn't mean I have to stay or allow them to remain in my life. While it's not easy, every day, I'm getting stronger and closer to being able to leave, and watching podcasts and things like this truly does help; thank you. 🕊️♥️🤲

If patriarchy is no longer serving mankind, yes, its time to create a matriarchal system. It would give us so much more, not only for healthy relationships but just having governments make wise rather than macho decisions that affect so many people. Love hearing V and how she healed herself by going thru the worst of it in her apologies. Can't wait to read the book! So glad, Dan, to hear also about the modern vulnerability and soul searching of young men that is becoming more mainstream. Men, listen and take notice, women should be valued and if you know instinctively that something is wrong, notice it and take responsibility please.

Very interesting interview. I guess I am confused by the rejection of forgiveness and I don’t really understand what is behind that?

How about people ( kid people) that keep apologizing and re repeating . I guess teaching our kids what an apology really means.
