Personally, I think it's a black American gift because Caribbean people don't sing that way and they've been in the church longer than black Americans. My family are Caribbean and none of them can sing and the people in the churches they cannot sing - I wouldn't be surprised if this is the same with the Africans too.

@@martinumber1 you are absolutely right. Do people even remember how the Irish were enslaved? Japanese forced into segregation camps? The north fighting the south for freedom of all people? And as for 'white people don't have soul' you must never have heard Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse, Adele, etc... And multiple artists have been stealing forever, it's not a race thing, it's the business that's crooked. People just want to label themselves and identify themselves. It's not right.

@@slenderman3510 Uhmm if she had no soul & just "copied as much black artists as possible"; Vocal Legends (Aretha, Patti, Stevie Wonder etc.) wouldn't praise her voice as much as they do. She wouldn't also influence an entire generation of vocalists (Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, JoJo, Ariana Grande, Leona Lewis, Tori Kelly, Jessie J, etc..) She's literally impacted most people's faves, of the 21st Century. Obviously, she doesn't belong in this video because she's multiracial but attempting to tear her down as a vocalist, is pathetic.

Black people sing from their heart and it’s form of therapy to sing unmitigated without pretense. Many try to copy it by imitating it through vocal techniques but certain things cannot copied these voices were cultivated due to a distinct history.
