@@incorectulpolitic for me consistency with diet and walking has been the key. I have always lifted so that has been a constant, so I just tweak that as I go. I did get blood work and had a 300 T score so I got the bio-identical pellets to get me in normal range of 800. Not enough to pack on muscle but enough to have an active life and do the work needed to be healthy.

The irony is that when you increase the red meat you're so satisfied and satiated that it's hard to eat enough (protein or fat from animal sources) .. my shopping is so easy now.... Dr Baker is great, he knows that variation of carnivore is fine

I used both of these guys diets to lose 100lbs and I will still use their diets to aid me in reaching my goals. Right now I'm on the vertical diet to put on a little weight to increase my strength. I'm 12 weeks in and my deadlift is up 70lbs and I've put on 8-10lbs. Feeling great and stronger everyday. Love both of these guys.

I love Stan words on salt intake. I take in a high amount every day and I have people that are really worried about me. I tell them the facts from Stan and I tell them I get blood work done twice a year but they don't listen. I'm also a heavy salt sweater and I can tell when my salt intake is low during a said day because I cramp and feel weak. I grab some monster mash and throw some salt on it and grab a glass of water and in 30min I feel normal again. Salt is a very powerful thing.

Exactly. Most people think salt is bad but the real problem is having an imbalance of too much sodium compared to your potassium, magnesium, etc

Same. Electrolytes, minerals. The industry purposefully put out disinformation to make people sick so they can sell them products that don't work. I love pink and sea salt and add it to almost everything, including watet and fruit :D people are paranoid because of lies. It was a commodity and currency in ages past. It is water's best friend, different from it as it is. No salt = heart problems, not the other way around. If it says "Salt" without the "Sea" it is mixed with sugar and other crap.

I hope it's not lost on people just how powerful it is to witness Shawn's first-take reaction to twitter hate and brush it off for the trash that it is. Shows he's a guy who's grounded in who he is and how he serves others to live better. It's mind-numbing to me the lack of self-awareness haters like this have. "Shawn is on a podcast and has helped many people. I have not, and nobody is DMing me to be on a podcast, and I am irrelevant to his life... actually my life sucks, so maybe I can find some pleasure in making him feel bad..." I just wanted to take a moment and thank Stan Efferding for what he said about not defining people as broken. I’m finding myself at 48 years old having to make a physical comeback after treating myself pretty badly the last couple of years. At times it really seems like it’s over for me. I’m going to take his advice to heart. “Nocebo” should be a new word that enters the fitness vernacular. Thanks again.

On the collagen comment from Stan. I have recently come across a study that showed how amino acid segments can survive the digestive tract and enter the bloodstream either whole or in large chunks. I think it is an area that isn't researched well enough to make a definitive clam as of yet. But there is also something to be said that eating liver, could potentially provide all of the necessary components to help support liver healing and function in a much easier capacity by making sure you do get all that is needed.

I couldn’t agree more about the myth that performance drops at any particular age. At almost 45, I am still chasing PR‘s, and occasionally hitting them. My friends and peers are falling apart, but I do not believe its age. I firmly believe that it is abuse that causes people to break down in their 40s and 50s.

The carnivore diet works (if by "works" we are referring to the correction of auto-immune disorders.. and not necessarily maximizing muscle growth). Period. That said, I would caution anyone keeping or adding eggs in this diet as many people have a negative auto-immune response with eggs (mainly associated, though not always, to the egg whites whose role is to "protect" the yolk from external aggressions). If that is the case, then it'd be interesting to hear Shawn and Stan's views on what is an adequate substitute for eggs in the diet given that this is one of nature's "super-foods." Mike, can we get your views as well? The closest I've come up with (cognizant of all imperfections) is hemp seeds mixed with a collagen protein supplement. For me, as a long-time sufferer of egg, milk and wheat intolerances, it seems to work pretty well. Just my two cents, in case someone had jumped on the carnivore boat and wasn't seeing "results"... might be the eggs. A blood test on food allergies might be worth getting to confirm this.

I am for the vertical diet, sadly I’m surrounded by people who say “ to much red meat is bad for you” “ dairy is bad for you you don’t need it” and these are family members who drink processed almond milk listen to Drberg😂. I agree it’s hard to find good meat in store that is not heavily processed and filled with a ton garbage that can harm you. Same for dairy. Raw dairy is the way too. People just automatically assume that red meat is bad because one post they read that’s probably half shitted with little to no research put in. RED MEAT and DAIRY will NOT harm you. but the right shit and do it and you’ll feel the difference, especially for me in mental clarity and that was only one strict week doing the vertical diet.

Oh but guess what they also have, highest rates of stomach cancer in Asia. Too much of something is not always good

@@em34ev3r I never said there is no upper limit for salt intake. Besides, Japan's stomach cancer death rate is arround 13 per 100000 population, so why would anyone care. Japan still has lower rates than Kazakhstan, Russia, Peru, Costa Rica, Columbia, so it doesn't seem like salt plays that crucial role, even simple observations doesn't support that.

@@em34ev3r The rate of tobacco use is extremely high and that's certainly contributing to the rate of digestive cancers.

Have Bart Kay debate Stan Efferding. That would be a fun podcast. Plus tell Bart Kay if he gets out of line with his language, they have to go to the gym to resolve the debate jejeje jejeje. Great podcast !!!
