adyashanti.org - Belief is the enemy of spirituality-it gets in the way. The open-ended question is the great aid to spirituality. Adyashanti explores the power of questioning our beliefs to dissolve our deepest life assumptions and devote ourselves to open-ended inquiry.
Video Excerpted From “The Realness of Reality”:

Quotes from this Video:
“The first thing all spiritual inquiry has to do is clear the deck.”
“It’s the open-ended question that’s the great aid to spirituality, a question that’s married to a deeply contemplative perceiving of your experience and also to a kind of devotion.”
“Unless you empty your mind, nothing new will enter it.”

I recently had a realisation that nobody really cares what I think, a very sobering thought for someone that must be right all the time.

Very funny. You made me laugh. I realized that too about myself. But nowadays in the present climate that is a kind of relief for me because I don't have to stand up and say something and get my head blown off.

Authentic teacher. Real dialogue with humor. No pretense just " here I am flaws and all." Ady has blossomed into a rare teacher and proves it by being self deprecating.

I have enjoyed this man ' s growth theoufh the years. His timing , humor, and down to earth qualities have sincerity. Ady has lived experience and his love of people is unique in expression. In 2020 we need him to remind us of many things including voluntary simplicity and love and compassion for ourselves and others. Bravo to this great teacher. 👋

I found that when i stopped identifying with my mind, this quality of openess to be wrong and to admit that im not so sure , came spontaneously as my strong ego started dissolving ( i started to dis-identify from it). And believe me this is a huge step for a person that had a very strong ego for its whole life. What im trying to say, its that this quality to question your beliefs, to be open, to rest in the unknown, to admit that you are not so sure, came automatically, when i started to watch my mind as an impersonal awareness. This space between me and my mind keeps growing every day and its dissolving a lot of imbalanced behaviors and beliefs. Only through my awareness (watching the thoughts impersonally and don’t believing them) true change and transformation could come through. If you try to figure this out and execute it through your mind, it only becomes another technique for the mind to be on the center stage. True change can flower through when you let go of your mind through dis-identification and resting in the space of awareness.

@@tere.sporleder Hi Teresita I'm from California! I have also been following great teachers like Adya, Eckhart, Mooji, Gangaji and GP Walsh. Their all pointing to the same place and your absolutely right being honest is the best policy. Interestingly the deeper you go, more layers of the personality is revealed and as overwhelming as it may seem, this energy just comes and goes.

Does anybody else feel like you get letting go & dis-identifying but when you try to talk about it or read or hear it it sounds sort of trite or over-simplified or even phony?🤔

questioning whether beliefs are truth is an uncomfortable process. Hence why his name translates to "Primordial Peace" Adya authentically encompasses the process and is a beacon for us all, living proof. No matter what your mind tells you about transforming, we see the proof right in front of us with Masters of existence and they always point to the truth. They cannot interpret the truth because it is a lived experience, a living expression. It can be a difficult process, I am trying to perceive what he said about "suffering is optional." It gives you a whole new perspective of clinging. Thank you for your teachings and presence, Namaste

Anything one believes in, one doesn't really know. Thus any real inquiry doesn't start with belief. It starts with acknowledging that one doesn't know. Now totally superficially, what is Adya wearing? I like the look! 😊

so is the universe just a choir of inquiry awakening to itself continuously on deeper levels? Does the expansion of space literally create more levels to explore or are all levels already here and just waiting to be explored?

No you can’t. We make assumptions if they’re helpful, if they’re close enough to objectivity to look objective. But “objectivity” is simply objectivity from our subjective perspective.
