I've owned multiple pressings of the RL Mastering of Synchronicity in the bronze colored vinyl, even dark olive green. So cool about Signals. My wife just picked up Hemispheres, Caress Of Steel, their first album and Moving Pictures, the RL cut. We even got Supertramp's Breakfast In America. What an amazing soundscape that it is has by itself. But Seriously, Folks is my favorite Joe Walsh album. Theme From Boat Weirdos was almost used in our wedding.. The dead wax is S R C or an O. Again the soundstage is incredible. Thanks for this video Tim.

I thank you very much for the information on pressing's. I immediately pulled out my rush signal's album and unfortunately it wasn't a RL pressing. However I pulled out my Rush moving pictures and it had the PRC along with Masterdisk RL on both sides. I guess it's time to upgrade my Signals album. Lol

Another great video Tim. I’m so happy that for once I already have two of these pressings (Signals, RL on side 2 only and Joe Walsh). Rare moment when I avoid the “Tim Tax” 😜

Great video. My Signals is a Robert Ludwig Masterdisc while my Grace Under Pressure is a PRC Compton. My Joe Walsh But Seriously is a Sterling Sound pressed at Jacksonville. My UFO Mechanic is a PRC Compton. Thanks again for helpful background as you always do.

I just checked my copy of Signals and it's a PRC pressing, with Masterdisk, but no RL :-( It also had PRC etched in the dead wax and the 26 label, but not translucent. I'm pretty sure I bought this as soon as it hit the street when I was in High Schoool in Minnesota.

You went and made me check my Signals album. It’s a CRC copy with both 26 and 72 on the label! So it could be either Compton or Richmond!

Excellent one Tim! You can be *DAMN* sure that tomorrow I'm getting out all of those albums you showed today and check the deadwax! 😁 I remember that I had compared my 1st US pressing of Signals to the 2015 repress and the original sounded better, but I don't know if it has all the other goodies on it and I sure didn't know about the translucent part. I had always thought that automatically meant Quiex, but you seemed to differentiate between that and the compound they used on the Police album. BTW, for my lowly 'Taste', such as it is, Jazz is by FAR my most favourite Queen album. Fun IT and More of that Jazz and really all the songs to me are excellent. Thanks for the extremely informative video Tim! Oh, and yeah I remember seeing the '26' on a LOT of my albums, so that is great to know about the plant them come from, thanks to you!

@@Universityofvinyl Awesome! I REALLY like that Jazz album. Those guys had a real gift for composition and arrangement, something I value very highly in any Genre. Well, I did check my Signals... Unfortunately, it is an RCA Club pressing... 😲 I know, I know... but, quite honestly, I gave it a really cranked up listen today and it did sound very good! Objectively I would say that maybe there could be a tad more separation, but tonally and dynamically it sounded excellent, didn't sound like a runoff copy which many times the Club pressings used (or, GASP! done by there own engineers...) I did write several sellers on Discogs, and fortunately this PRC 26 pressing is quite reasonable (I WAS thinking of grovelling and snivelling up to you to see if you wanted to let go of one of your copies... 😁 But, it looks like there are about 4 or 5 decent looking copies available from all 100% sellers for about $22 - $27 shipped) 2 of them have written back already. One said it was an incorrect listing and was a different pressing. The other has no cover but has rated the vinyl VG+ but WITH added comments about the vinyl, which I always appreciate with any VG+ items. I figure if they bother to add comments about the vinyl then they are likely more conscientious. This 2nd guy said that it did not have the RL or Masterdisk in the runout, BUT it was the translucent brown vinyl. Here is the runout: SRM-1-4063-AS-PRC C-1-1-1(scratched out) 5 SRM-1-4063-BS-PRC C-1-1-1(5 written over the 1) So, I wanted to ask you, is the fact it IS the translucent vinyl important enough to take a chance even though the other two factors are not in the deadwax? I think this one is like $17 shipped. Mine DOES have the Masterdisk in the runout, but no RL... And it is some kind of Repress because it has the R1 in the deadwax. It honestly does sound very good, the vinyl is not translucent. So, I'm waiting to hear back from the other sellers. I'm GUESSING due to the early pressing that it likely is maybe an RL repress rather than a later BK one? Maybe they were sent the same plates, IDK... But, you sure have me frigg'n curious now, *THANK YOU VERY BLOODY MUCH!!!* 😁 (Sorry about the super LONG post Bro!) I did check my Tears for Fears album, and YEP! It is a PRC 26 pressing! It is not translucent, but MAN does it sound AMAZING! I could tell immediately the difference after the Signals album. HUGE dynamics, clearly a fantastic pressing, so there is that.

@@Universityofvinyl Okay, just another quick reply with the one above... Another seller answered me and has a PRC 26 with Masterdisk in the deadwax but no RL and it is not translucent. Between these two I've asked you about here so far, what do you think, any thoughts...? Thanks Tim!

@@latheofheaven There is about a 100 pg long post on Hoffman all about people’s opinion’s of the best Rush pressings album by album. I really like the guy who has an illustration of himself in his avatar and he’s constantly talking about the translucent Signals pressings. I would go with the $17 brown translucent and compare it to your Club. You can always flip either one after your comparison. Ludwig’s handwriting just/etching is pretty distinctive so even thought it might be missing masterdisk and/or RL it’s probably an early promo pressing if it was translucent from PRC Compton.

Interesting video. ..but being a life long die hard Rush fan..I feel I must correct some info. First ...Rush never sang about wizards...yeah there were a few songs which had some fantasy elements. .but no wizards. Also there is no fretless bass on Signals. ..the photo you showed was of Geddy playing a Steinberg bass ....which is a damp ugly looking bass...but it's not fretless. In fact Geddy used a fretless for the first time on the Snake and Arrows album. The pressing information was interesting though. Nice job. Mark Anthony K Projekt Gemineye

Thanks Mark; yep, I meant to say “headless” but oh well. Wizards was a generalization but knowing this fan base I should have known to very VERY specific ;) Thanks for watching as always.

@@Universityofvinyl I wasn't sure if you meant headless bass like the iconic Steinberger Geddy is pictured with. He used those on tour in the 80s. And I totally get your point about Neil evolving from wordy nerdy subject matter to more personal lyrics.
