Bob was crotchety and impatient his last couple yrs. Drew is great.Natural comedian. There's a couple new games too. As well as the old favorites. They need to change some of the "rules" in some games too. Nobody should have to play to "win" chances on Plinko only to end up with 0 $'s! Min.should be $50.

Wow. I started watching "The Price is Right!" in '72 when I was 17. I was in the audience three times when Bob Barker and Rod Roddy were there with the packed audiences. Fun to get to know people in line. Mr. Roddy helped with a fundraiser for the HIV health education and testing program I directed. Cool to be there at CBS Studio on Fairfax--stayed at hotels nearby the night before to get in there early and ate in the Farmer's Market area next door. A very different time. Lots has changed. Kinda makes a lump in my throat. Sad to see 'em go.

It was a matter of favorability and Bob’s ability to be more engaging. I wasn’t blaming Drew because he can’t match up to Bob Barker. Everyone has preferences. I continued by saying he’s a legend that can’t be replaced. Just like in sports; Kobe, Babe Ruth, Ronaldo, Brady, Woods. He had a signature style and it will never be on TV again. I never blamed DC for anything or expected him to be a replica. There’s a Bob Barker rerun channel on YT so everything is all good.

I grown up watching Bob Parker which I started to watch him long before his hair turned grey. The way he talked and interacted with the contestants there was something about that which got people to watch. People who started to watch Price Is Right after Bob Parker left just wont understand. While Price is Right is still going on it's just not the same without Bob Parker. He had that spark that made Price is Right how big it became over those decades. While the new host is decent he just don't have that spark that Bob Parker gave the show.

I am to be corrected if I am wrong but the Bob Barker studio at CBS Television City , studio 33 was also the one used by The Carol Burnett Show during her successful run and before that used by Jack Benny when Television City first opened for broadcasting in the early 1950s . It is said that Benny was consulted about the design of this studio . If so it has been a very good place fo broadcasting success for many years .

Part of the fun of going to see TPIR was the Television City experience - waiting in line outside the storied complex in the wee hours of the morning, going to the Farmers Market, CBS soap stars sometimes appearing to sign autographs, and being in historic Studio 33/the Bob Barker Studio. IMO the show and Television City are inseparable. Very sad.

Tom Kennedy also hosted the nighttime version of the show,and it was the half hour version. Johnny Olson was also the emcee and it was at that studio.And Tom and Johnny will never be forgotten.

The nighttime versions were only 30 minutes. Prior to Tom Kennedy, who hosted in the mid 80s, game show host veteran, Dennis James, hosted the syndicated (night time) version of Price Is Right which began in ‘72. I believe simultaneously when the daytime version began. A shout out to the original host, Bill Cullen!🎉

I once went to a taping of The Price is Right with Bob Barker. I remember every contestant losing except for someone winning the showcase. I must have brought bad luck to the place. I wasn't chosen to "come on down" either. :(

The concept for this show is ingenius as it surely helps them rake in the cash and stay on the air decade after decade: this show is essentially an hour-long commercial. I have no doubt they are getting paid handsomely by the makers of all those products they use in their games.

Have you noticed the generic descriptions of some of the products used? Instead of "It's delicious Hershey's peanut butter cups with two great tastes that taste great together," the announcer says "It's whatever ounces of chocolate/peanut butter candy?" They actually don't have many paying product sponsors. Most descriptions are generic because they don't pay for exposure. (an ad, basically) We see a lot of "a 50 tablet bottle of pain reliever" instead of "It's extra strength Tylenol, the doctor's choice for aspirin free pain relief." Just like the commercials. Gone are the toy, food, soft drink etc. commercials. All we see now are drug, lawyer, and insurance commercials. Companies just aren't spending on TV advertising anymore.

My uncle wanted to get in Hollywood back in the 70s. His first job was delivering the prizes to the winners on the price is right. He ended up becoming a very accomplished, TV, creator, writer, Producer, and Director. Who wrote a number of sitcoms and helped with a number of sitcoms through the 80s and 90s into the early 2000s. That there my friends is what you call. Hard work and the American dream.

This format, which was very successful in the United States, was also very successful in Brazil with programs such as "O preço Certo" which was presented by TV presenter Silvio Santos on SBT and also programs such as "Tic Tac Millioes" shown on Rede Bandeirantes and also on very successful and rewatching this program on the CBS Network that was very successful in the 70's. This proves that these Awards program formats survive to this day.

I was a contestant on the show in 2001. I won my way to the showcase but then lost. So fortunate to have met Bob Barker and Rod Roddy. I know this may sound mean, but I think the show is totally cringe now. I was a diehard fan for years and I can’t even stomach it anymore - especially with that sparse audience and Drew Carey. The male models look so awkward. It just lost it’s charm after Bob Barker retired. Wish them all the best though in the new studio.

Similar changes back in 1989 when wheel of fortune left the Burbank studio from NBC cause that stage was too small and they moved to studio 33 and its much bigger at the time now wheel resides in Sony in Culver City since 1995.

The show has been on a longer than usual hiatus during the peak of the pandemic. The next season debuted without the audience, but they made it work. They eventually brought back the audience during its 50th season. The new studio will be bigger and hopefully better than ever. I'm sure they'll have a larger audience as well.
