I really do think the individual carbine program was the move. Rifles like this were truly pushing the needle in a compelling and thoughtful direction without being completely out of their gourd. I feel like I might have a use for this when it comes to those new wacky rounds that are coming out. I wish them the best of luck and hopefully some big contract sales

It's the return of the ACR with the barrel and magwell change system with a common receiver/body. If they do deliver on the other caliber barrel kits, then it'll have succeeded where the ACR failed. While the UXR uses screws to hold the barrel in and not the quick change system the ACR had, I think changing barrels isn't something you just do in the field and it's a basic maintenance level task. Sure the quick change lever is more convenient, but the screws probably hold better.

@@M1911jlnthis is why I have no interest in the MDRx/WLVRN. It seems cool in 308 but as a 556 bullpup it’s just too big, too heavy and too expensive. A dedicated 556/300BLK MDR that’s smaller, lighter and simpler/more reliable with better QC would be the best bullpup on the market hands down.

yeah you got like an extra 1.5-2 inches behind the grip compared to a normal AR before ass end of the receiver and that stock at minimum length looks to be longer than a fully collapsed AR stock on a carbine buffer tube, but i could be wrong on that part

This type of rifle is finally the kind that would topple the AR-15, considering how everywhere you turn, you can see an AR-type gun (the Swedes just switched and some of the Finns are planning to, the Brits got an AR as an alternative individual weapon, Estonia and New Zealand recently switched, Italy's Beretta introduced one, so on and so forth). This may not be popular or sell that well initially but it is a game changer by just having some sort of presence in the market.

I doubt the UXR will be anything more than a 'cult hit', the whole caliber change thing, outside of regions where getting a new serialized firearm is difficult (i.e. Germany), is more of a gimmick than anything.

That was my IMMEDIATE thought when I saw this. "Someone's already doing this and nobody talks about it". Everyone talks about modularity in new weapon designs now days but actually selling kits to easily convert to strange and unique calibers is something that I've only really heard of Robinson doing. Not sure which system is better, but both are pretty damn similar.

yeah except the barrel is CLAMPED by 3 screws and not DIRECTLY connected threw 1 screw that expirience sheer forces. The accuracy of the XCR, even the Gen 2, is quite bad.

@@sauerkraud the XCR used to have accuracy issues, but it seems forum members recently are getting better results, pre 2017 rifles did apparently have issues but with good ammo the forum members usually claim 1-1.25 MOA, and robinson says anywhere between 0.75 and 1.5 MOA is to be expected. Although I will admit I have no clue if robinson will accept a no questions asked return if the rifle does not live up to that standard. In my estimation better than 1.5 MOA is fine for a combat rifle. Also, I admit I am not an expert on the XCR, but I have been interested in purchasing one for some time now so I've done my best to look into all of it's shortcomings.

@ I was stoked about the XCR a long time ago too. But the 1 screw solution is nothing I desire. I like my SCAR that features atleast 4 small screws, but would even prefer an "SCAR MK20/SSR with a short receiver" just to have the 6 screw mounting hardware. The UXR seems doing quite well, only "issue" I see is that the barrel trunnion will be quite heavy as its much bigger than of other designs.I guess at least it eats some heat

6al4v grade 5 titanium is stronger than 7051 T6 aluminum. Likely around 2-2.5x the yield and shear strength. While also being completely non reactive. While a being a little heavier. Much stronger than an ar15's 7051 aluminum.

It's intermediate stroke like the Beretta ARX-100. "Short stroke" in function, but the piston moves about twice the distance of typical short stroke piston systems.

I like the rifle, I really do. But I need more information on it and some actual reviews. The only stuff that’s out is online reviews and informative videos. In 308 it seems to have some problem. But the other calibers seem to be working well. But I need comprehensive video reviews. And that’s simply not out yet sadly. It is nice though to see they are continuing to give people what they want with the gun like the stock adapter. But I will have to wait till more is out on it. With it being released in 7.62x39, someone will undoubtedly be creaming their pants to make a video on it. It’s amazing how much hype revolves around that cartridge, but if it gets me a review for this rifle I’m all for it

Do I really need another rifle? No. Do I want one that I can change calibers, YES! My only fear is this won't get traction, and they will not follow through with the 6ARC and 338ARC. TBH, $600 to convert everything I would need sounds pretty good to me. The lack of barrel lengths and no pistol options are the only things holding me up right now.

If you want one that's out now the robinson XCR system has existed since the mid 2000s and you can order your rifle to be built today if you want. I believe it has 6mm ARC, 6.5 grendel, 224 valkryie, and 6.8 scp.

@@ajorsomething4935 the one thing this has going for it is that there isn’t a small frame/ large frame- it’s just the one version. A person could own one rifle and swap the appropriate parts and go from .308 to 5.56, whereas you’d still need two different rifles for that with the XCR. I think the XCR seems like a cool platform, but that’s the reasoning I could see leading someone to get this over an XCR

There are some floating around- they had some issues initially with I believe the stock and the bolt catch / release, so I think that may be why you’re not seeing a ton of media on them

Personal opinion: I don’t like all these proprietary “caliber change” weapons that cost like $2k+, not including the cost for the caliber change kit. This pws rifle is $2.6k. It would be more cost effective to just have an ar with 2-3 uppers in different calibers. If your willing to lug around a caliber change barrel for this pws rifle, how much heavier is it to lug around another ar upper?

Wish the stock folded to the other side. As it is, it makes it difficult to fire with the stock folded (if your right handed).
