It's important to mention that not all Jews were expelled by the Romans. It may only have been the upper echelons of society were expelled but the peasants remained. This is important to keep in mind when discussing who the Palestinians are. Or were.

Not only the Romans but also the Babylonians and Assyrians expelled the Jews most Jews were expelled not all it depends on which Jewish commonwealth era your referring to. The Palestinians people are divided into 3 groups (Those who never left Jews/Samaritans Christian Aramean and modern day Palestinians who had influence and migration from Syria, Jordan and Egypt Arafat notably being from Egypt.

Good work! Very good background. The one thing missing, in my opinion, was clearly spelling out that the Jewish faith itself - Jewish theology - describes us as a "people" or "nation". Not in the modern sense of nationality of course, in a ancient-world kind of way that doesn't fit with today's clear-cut boxes which we can barely think outside of (nationality, ethnicity, religion, citizenship). That is to say, Zionism tried to adapt, into a 19th century European-made mold, the ancient idea of Jewish peoplehood. But Jewish peoplehood was not a new concept, nor was it just a reaction to antisemitism. It is deeply part and parcel of the Jewish tradition's DNA. Again - it doesn't fit any modern definition, as its an "ethnicity" that bears no racial characteristics of appearance (a halachic Jew can look Swede, Chinese, Sudanese or Indian). And the only way an outsider can join this "ethnic group" or "people" is through religious conversion (which obviously cannot change your genetic background, appearance or ethnicity in the present-day sense of the term). A paradoxical brainf**k that confuses people today to the extreme. Mostly the few non-Jews who try to understand what Jews are, if not "just a religion". But it also confuses us Jews. None of us can think outside of today's modern world's boxes.

Were there Zionist ideologies or movements outside of Ashkenazi Jews in Europe? Were their equivalent movements among Mizrahi or Sephardi Jews? Good book or other reference?
@TheConflictShowАй бұрын
Thanks for your question! Yes, there was an immigration/settlement movement into Israel/Palestine from Yemen. The motivations behind this wave were not Zionist but more religious. Still, they ended up being a part of Hebrew Yishuv and, in retrospect, have been incorporated into the Zionist fold. Once we finish the basic chronology of The Conflict, we'll devote episodes to the internal divisions within the two national movements. Eraqi-Clorman, Bat Tzion. @@arnondeg From the recesses of True history there have always been Anti-Zionist Jews. Today the numbers are as profound. There is the apex schism. Netanyahu was forced recently to shelve Legislation that would Centralise the appointment of Municipal Rabbi's, a Rabbinical Coup d'etat with the Kahaanists/Chabad Lubavitch ascendant, in theocratic control ; this hand in hand with replacing Gallant for a sympathetic supporter of the Supreme Court overhaul, affording immunity to Netanyahu's prosecution on corruption charges, even more, a decent into totalitarian rule. I do not " hate " Jews. I have long been concerned for Israeli civil society. The ' Hannibal directive ' has already been turned inward. Put that in the ' Primordial soup '.
