I like it when you are in the perfect spot inside while the horses change, and I can see the horse come trotting towards you, also their shiny coat as they walk down towards the box. I loved one time not so long ago when one of the horses was so enthusiastic I was wondering how you managed to stand there without trying to move, luckily the horse stopped exactly where it should, but it was just so sweet how the horse almost danced towards the crown at quick pace. I just love it when they look so happy.

I just did and did not realize that I had not done this before. I have a question I can not find the answer to. Are the guards in the horse boxes also the same guards on the watch posts? Do they take turns? You do a wonderful job with your videos. I loved seeing the Horse Guards when I went to the UK and no I did not stop for a photo or attempt to touch them. U just admired their stunning beauty

I wish people would be made aware that when a horse puts its ears back and lifts its head to stop the hands from touching it, the horse isn’t enjoying the situation. I cringe seeing hands near their eyes.

I do too. I witnessed the women who poked 3 of her fingers in the horse's left eye, because she wasn't watching what she was doing and looked back at the camera whilst still moving her hand up to his head. The horse paid her back. He grabbed her fingers and wouldn't let go. Personally, I do not think people should be allowed to touch the horses. It's the only way to stop horse eyes being poked. A lot of horses do not like their noses being rubbed either.

I have so much respect for the Blues and Royals. It is a shame people think that all they do is stand outside at the Horse Guards. They are combat ready and have been involved in combat. The horses are Irish Draught. White Hall at the Horse guards and St James Palace are all thats left over from the enormous Palace Henry VIII built and burned down in 1698.

Yes, we as a . country are far to soft, Many countries they come from, break the smallest rule, its the harshest punishments, But, no matter where u all come from, show some respect yes taking pics,, getting close to our horses and guards are free, it doesnt mean u abuse it, If we were in ur country, would what u show, disrespect, be allowed, no it wouldn't, dont do jt in our country Enjoy your holiday, but, respect yes

I can shed a little light for you on the subject of writing in caps. I have a couple of friends who always writes in caps because like Mel had surgery last month in one eye from something that tore inside so he has one eye he can see with & Nancy is losing her eyesight & that's how she can see when writing. She doesn't get on much anymore & she misses staying in touch alot with friends. Then you have the people who do it for attention or do it to gripe. Anyway some people have no choice & I've tried learning the difference & it makes things easier.

Your "Corporal of Horse" was NOT so. She was an Officer there were no rank badges on her arm but they were on her shoulder but I wasn't able to see close enough to see her Rank. Additionally, her cap has a more elaborate gold edge to the peak. Sorry to nit pic it's the "squaddie" in me! 😋

If you watch them. The guard that’s ahead of the other guard to dismount will do that to give the signal to both jump down to the ground in unison. Another time they do that to signal the other guard

I believe ( could be wrong) that it's a trained signal to the horse to expect them to dismount.

The horses enjoy it, sounds strange but they love being patted hard on the neck and shoulder area, it is also a signal the the rider is about to dismount.

Historical mainly. They are however, highly trained soldiers for any type of combat & have a great viewpoint at about ten foot tall!!

Riding and taking care of a horse is great training for soldiers. They have to learn self discipline…..horses are affected by your mood…..if you’re calm and composed it’ll help them to be the same. They have to learn persistence. Nothing about horses or riding horses comes easily, you have to work at it even when you don’t want to. They have to learn to understand how a horse thinks, in order to understand and predict its behaviour. This empathy is important in a soldier. They have to take responsibility. They have a certain group of horses that rely on you for everything. There’s no……”ahh I’ll do it later” It’s done NOW. They need to learn observational skills, to learn what’s normal so they know what’s not but also it’s just a great thing for these young soldiers to experience the companionship and teamwork between horse and rider when both know what needs to be done. The traditions are important……the Mounted Guards of the HouseHold Cavalry have a long and valiant history and there’s good reason to maintain these traditions for that reason alone but add all the other benefits and it’s a no brainer
