eh, America wouldn't put up with legalized shakedowns, they're armed.
@MonstaMunch101
@MonstaMunch101 2 ай бұрын
The system isn't what the TV show says it is. When the intro says "they work for the courts" this simply isn't true. They are hired by the people the debts are owed to after the courts confirm that the debts are legally legitimate. There's a big difference. Generally if the are unable to recover the money, the person who hired them still has to pay them, leaving them even further out of pocket.

Quite surprised by their attitudes and even just the general cases. So many of these shows are about those without losing what little they have over debt. This was vastly different and actually good moral work!

They probably wouldn't have, you can't just add fees on if they were not agreed upon beforehand. I'd say that a court would rule that a 5k fee to be unjust.

The first case is just typical of how housing associations work. My housing association are appalling. The worst landlord I've ever had. They have no clue what's going on, you lodge a complaint, & it goes around the same few people & isn't dealt with. I'm so sorry for this hard working man. Good luck & best wishes for the future. Just to add, my housing association also have a gold award for investing in people😂 these awards are a joke & mean nothing.

They don't "work" for the high courts as many people think, they're baliffs who carry out high court writs and are employed as a 3rd party collection agency. These are the same people who kick you out your house if you get in arrears with rent or mortgage, who come round to take your goods if you fall behind with council tax and so on. Acting under a high court writ gives them different powers to a baliff but they're still debt collectors/baliffs and are as happy kicking families out their homes as they are collecting tribunal money. They just show you the nice things they do to make their industry look less shady.

If its health related as in this case, what they did was illegal and in breach of the equalities act. By law an employer has to make reasonable adjustments for return to work such as enabling home working, reduced hours, job share, flexible working schedule etc - what ever is reasonable and agreeable for both parties.

Like what would bailifs do, if you put yourself on ''electoral roll'' on someones adress where you dont live , and then live at friends with nothing on your name at all, how would they chase that. And even better if you keep car at value below 1200 ( as by law that low priced car cant be taken away if you need it to go to work etc ). keep bank accounts clean, cash at friends simple as, bailifs can only chase you for 12 months, then extend it for another 12 , after that you free to go. Also any defaults / ccjs are cleared after 6 years from creditreport and cant be chased no more by law.

@teainortakoy and if it's not reasonable the employer can say no witch they did, this guy took the piss out of his employers by suing them after getting paid for a whole year of not working, it isn't right he was able to sue them for that much money it's greed, he did the victim role quire well tho, you can tell by the phonecall when he's told they've got the money that it was all about the cash all along, greedy man who capitalised on his illness ( witch I'm very glad he beat ) but I hope nobody ever employs him again he's a leach
