eh, America wouldn't put up with legalized shakedowns, they're armed.
@MonstaMunch1012 ай бұрын
The system isn't what the TV show says it is. When the intro says "they work for the courts" this simply isn't true. They are hired by the people the debts are owed to after the courts confirm that the debts are legally legitimate. There's a big difference. Generally if the are unable to recover the money, the person who hired them still has to pay them, leaving them even further out of pocket.
@adminimer51762 ай бұрын

They don't "work" for the high courts as many people think, they're baliffs who carry out high court writs and are employed as a 3rd party collection agency. These are the same people who kick you out your house if you get in arrears with rent or mortgage, who come round to take your goods if you fall behind with council tax and so on. Acting under a high court writ gives them different powers to a baliff but they're still debt collectors/baliffs and are as happy kicking families out their homes as they are collecting tribunal money. They just show you the nice things they do to make their industry look less shady.

If its health related as in this case, what they did was illegal and in breach of the equalities act. By law an employer has to make reasonable adjustments for return to work such as enabling home working, reduced hours, job share, flexible working schedule etc - what ever is reasonable and agreeable for both parties.

Like what would bailifs do, if you put yourself on ''electoral roll'' on someones adress where you dont live , and then live at friends with nothing on your name at all, how would they chase that. And even better if you keep car at value below 1200 ( as by law that low priced car cant be taken away if you need it to go to work etc ). keep bank accounts clean, cash at friends simple as, bailifs can only chase you for 12 months, then extend it for another 12 , after that you free to go. Also any defaults / ccjs are cleared after 6 years from creditreport and cant be chased no more by law.
