Hi Todd! Many thanks to making great videos. I typically use SyncroQ2 but thought I would give this a try as this video inspired me to try something new. I think the bottle has a problem in that its form over function is getting in its way. while I did hear you say be careful that it would fall over easily, I should have duct taped it to the table. it most certainly fell over and lost 3/4 of the product which was disappointing. I wish you could relay this problem to them or give me the contact to and I most certainly would convey the problem. I was very careful, so I thought. I did try a little test panel and wanted to do a back to back on Mohs/skin. I do feel the Mohs had a deeper gloss and depth look compared. just wondered if you ever do a side by side. I love watching your program. just hope that anybody see this video and reads my comment might be extremally careful when handling this bottle.

I’ll be getting a 2024 Porsche Macan GTS in the next few months and plan on applying ISM on the front end black plastic/satin surface as well as the black plastic diffuser. I am curious though, what the best course of action to take would be if say, within 24hrs of initial cure, or even within the first week, the car gets hit with a bird bomb or tree sap or some other environmental contaminant. @Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 2 жыл бұрын
Pete...coating a white car is challenging for sure, and you have to have some good lighting to make the most of it. I find that looking at the surface from an extreme angle really helps to see where the coating is. On the hood for instance, get low to the surface and look across. You should be able to see a different kind of reflection from the wet surface in comparison to dry. After a panel or two, it should become easier once you get a feel for what you are looking for. Good luck!

Thanks. Yes, you can use this over satin finishes. It won't make them "glossy", but it does add a richness to the finish. Just make sure you get it right with no high spots because you can't go back and polish it off like you can on glossy paint. You can then maintain it with either Overcoat or Cosmic Spritz.

What’s a better looking product of the three options mentioned above? I would rather have a coating that looks good for 12-16 months over longevity.
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 2 жыл бұрын
You'll get just a little more durability with the Miyabi/ISM than you will ISM alone. Looks are subjective, and the "preferred look" of the coatings may change depending on the color of paint it's going on. As for Zipang, it's the top so if you want to know you're applying the best of the best, that would be your go-to.

If you have to do a large area in 2 separate passes, as you mention with a large hood, what is the best way to avoid high spots on the edge picking up where you left off as that edge has started drying? Also, can/should you use it on the glass engine hatch of an F430? ie, is it ok for glass and would the heat be a problem? One more question, would this be good to use on wheels? I have Ferrari 16m coated 5 spoke wheels. Thank you Todd, your videos are always helpful, informative and useful!

As long as you're doing the overlap section one immediately after the other, you shouldn't run into any issues with high spots. Do not use on glass, and you'd want their Stance 3.0 on wheels as it's designed to handle more heat and chemicals. Hope this helps!

Northern Canada with salt, ice, snow for 7 to 8 months of the year. I have done 2 cars outside but not in direct sunlight as it will flash way too fast. I use 4 easy ups to give me the shade I need. A Garage would be ideal but I have the same problem you have. For me lots of dust in my area so I get tiny scratches from the dust collecting during the curing/wipe off process. I have installed ISM 1.0 and it was great, lasted 3 years as a daily driver with proper maintenance. I have also installed miyabi 2.0(2 coats)with ISM 3.0(1 coat) and that was the best combo for me. Gloss is amazing with both together but you will also get great results with just ISM 3.0. by itself.

Works great on white paint. Just wash with something like Gyeon Bathe, decontaminate with Gyeon Iron, and thoroughly rinse. When dry, wipe down with Gyeon Prep, then you're ready to apply the coating. All of those products (and videos) can be found at www.esotericcarcare.com

Miyabi / ISM is an upgrade level over ISM by itself, but ISM by itself is an incredibly good coating!

You say "SM doesn't like to layer on top of itself". What to do when the ISM eventually looses some effect? Do one have to polish it off before adding a new layer?
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail Жыл бұрын
That only applies when it's freshly applied. Over time the coating will start to wear, and as long as it's still in good shape (no swirls, scuffs, etc), you can simply do a thorough wash with decon, and reapply ISM.

Todd, at the 7:25 mark you discourage the use of rinseless washes and encourage only ph neutral soaps for washing. Did you mean to say rinseless wash n wax products that contain protection which may interfere with the coatings properties? Or are you saying any and all RWs, even ones that are pure cleaners like ONR and Mckees N914?
@Esotericdetail
@Esotericdetail 2 жыл бұрын
Many of those products you mention use polymers that stay behind on the surface, which do not have nearly as good of self-cleaning properties as the coating itself (or the maintenance products designed to go on top of them). Not a fan of rinseless washes...
@ryeguy01
@ryeguy01 2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting to hear. I have never heard of or observed polymers affecting hydrophobicity in any meaningful way. Plenty of people maintain ceramic coatings only using rinseless washes.

I have used Over Coat on my Corvette that was coated with Miyabi and ISM. It look good, but I find that it lacks slickness. The microfiber towel seems to grab on the surface when I wipe off any dust on the car. Is there an alternative to Over Coat that gives some slickness and provides the protection you speak about in the video?
