if anyone needs a sleep podcast that you won't get too wrapped up in, i recommend Boring Books For Bedtime. she reads old books from the 1800s-early 1900s, when their copyright has expired. it's hard to process every word, since it's both written with 1800s grammar _and_ there's a bunch of scientific/academic jargon to make the authors sound smart. she reads everything from the hat section of sears catalogues to some of the early hollow earth theories.

Headspace will always be a company I despise because in Australia we have a Government organisation also called Headspace that's essentially free online and in person councilling for kids, teens and young adults. It's a pretty essential and amazing service but the Headspace in thus video paid Google a shitton of money for SEO and now the paid mediation app Headspace appears above the councilling service Headspace, making it harder for people to find and guiding people to a shitty paid service instead.

I'm excited that theres someone talking about this. I think the biggest problem with these damn meditation/sleep apps by celebrities is that its all what worked for THEM as in indvidually crafted practices. Im not saying its not valid. I am saying however, that everyone needs very different things for better sleep quality, and different outlets for how to access parts of themselves they arent aware of (artistic expressions, exercise/yoga, stillness). Also, i have my own problems, i really don't care about Kevin Hart's rich guy issues and i dont wanna think about it when im trying to sleep.
@picahudsoniaunflocked54262 ай бұрын
Wasn't one of his problems that people reacted normally as in horrified when he said he'd beat his child up if he came out? I wouldn't be able to sleep to 98% celebs bc I know too much about what utter sh-tbags they are.
@catlovingnerd212 ай бұрын
yeah, i totally agree. i will say, however, that most of the stuff on headspace (that i'm aware of) is not related to celebrities at all, and is instead voiced/made by meditation and sleep coaches. i personally have 3 or 4 go-tos in the sleep section that genuinely help me get to sleep. i've never listened to any of the celebrity-made stuff on there before this video, though i've seen john legend's while scrolling to find something to listen to.

My mom and brother fall asleep to audio books, I can't do that, because I think about the plot. However we always watched nature or prehistoric documentaries, I fall asleep to them real fast. It's not that they are boring or something, but there's not really a plot. Plus the music and narration is usually really nice. Lil story time. Our family used to go camping for a month in the summer my parents are both teachers, so they spended the whole 2 month holidays with us. Every night my mom would play something on a little portable radio, some audio book, recording of a theatre or radio play sometimes a short skit etc. Thanks to this, I know a lot of books, mainly Czech ones, because we're Czech, duh. One of these is Smrt krásných srnců (The death of Beautiful Deer) by Ota Pavel, it's beautiful, but not something to listen to before bed. The author is telling us about his childhood before and during World War 2 in Czechoslovakia, about his parents, brothers and friends. I swear it's one of the best books I know of, but I remember I took a seat in a foldable chair one morning, blinked and looked at my mom. Then I said "We are not listening to that before bed, during the day? Sure. Not before sleep.". We finished it in the car and on a blanked by water.

I had the video paused, very near the end. I was scrolling through the comments, as one does. I then saw this comment... for just a brief moment... I thought, "Hm, I haven't seen that part, I don't remember him saying that..." and I felt an urge, "Hm, y'know, the video's not *QUITE* over... I should at least resume, there's literally just over 1 minute left." I then resumed the video. And he ***IMMEDIATELY*** said that EXACT phrase. You have to understand that this entire sequence of events unfolded over the course of, not even exaggerating, five freaking seconds. By **sheer coincidence,** I had paused the video LITERALLY **TWO SECONDS ** before he says the EXACT words mentioned in this comment. Thank you for reading this unreasonably long reply, I just... had to write this down at the very least. That was a WILD experience. Thank you for your comment playing an indelible part in it.
