I think that this problem extends to a lot of Fandom today. Many people seem to have forgotten how to enjoy things in the moment. Just because something is new and different doesn't mean it is bad. Give something a chance before you decide that it is worse than something you already have.

The real toxicity in Star Wars fandom is KK, Rian Johnson, and their hoard of inhuman SJWs. Star Wars Land is a major disappointment, thus far. There are more Star Wars rides in Tomorrowland (Star Tours/Hyperspace Mountain) than Star Wars Land. The one ride they did complete, Smugglers Run, is a BAD version of Star Tours... which is a bad ride to begin with. I've been on Smugglers Run 3 times, once for each position... they all stink (Engineer is a train wreck). You can still get on Smugglers Run almost any day in about 30 minutes, for a brand-new ride in a brand-new land... SAD! The food is terrible, stay to California Adventures. The bar is pathetic with drink that only technically have alcohol, total joke and a waste of time/money. Again, stay in California Adventures and get great food and drinks. Disneyland has very limited space, so to see so much wasted on one bad ride... If the next ride/movie are not home-runs this will be a major blemish on Disney for a long time.

Simple problem for me: I'm really sad to see a Disney that refuses to produce new attractions or park shows that aren't based on IPs. Honestly, so many of my biggest issues revolve around that: I'm tired of Bob Chapek's "more Disney" meaning "more characters" when "more Disney" used to mean a style, an aesthetic, a standard for quality, etc., but we're now at a point where a domestic park hasn't created or announced a new attraction based on a non-IP idea since Expedition Everest. I'll be honest, much as I was ok with the aesthetic overall of EPCOT I ended up feeling bummed out over Illuminations being replaced by, well...a "let's play the same Disney songs you hear in every other park, just slightly different" show in HarmoniUS. It's just not very compelling to me. Secondary issue: the rise of shorter rides at the expense of traditional Disney experiences, some of which ranged from 10-15 minutes (traditional dark rides) to multi-hour attractions like classic EPCOT pavilions. Great Movie Ride being replaced by a short attraction that uses a fraction of the show building space is disheartening on that front. Added benefit, the larger experiences were often people-eaters, constant loaders or otherwise well equipped for big crowds.

The newest Star Warz ride is going to literally be the longest ride an any Disney park. I also wouldn't call an Epcot Pavillion a multi hour attraction considering you can do the same in any land and if that's the case they're adding more stuff to these pavilions to make it an even larger attraction, meaning longer time spent there.
@jmn327
@jmn327 5 жыл бұрын
@@princedonovaughn1182 How long is it going to be? I'm sure it'll be a solid E ticket, I'm not doubting that at all, but is it going to break 10 minutes? And no, a lot of the original pavilions were designed to be lengthy experiences; Journey Into Imagination, for example, was designed to integrate the ride --> Image Works --> Magic Eye Theater progression, which often could lead to two hours spent in just that pavilion alone, with design choices, aesthetics, and theming designed to make for a cohesive experience under one roof. It was an incredible accomplishment; while we're going to thankfully be getting some updates to EPCOT soon it's highly unlikely we're getting anything in that vein.

Exactly. Epcot does not need to be changed, it needs to be improved. We don’t need a magic kingdom clone, we have a park that complements magic kingdom well and it should stay that way. Each park should have its own identity. On the path Disney is going they will be park 1, park 2, park 3 and park 4 instead of magic kingdom, animal kingdom, studios and Epcot
@cren151
@cren151 5 жыл бұрын
The trouble here is Bob Iger saying the theme parks need more "Disney" as if what already exists isn't already Disney. Everything Disney makes is "Disney". I understand IP's have always been around for example the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse or 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, but they were their own rides and the majority of attractions were original. I'm fine with IP's, but to shoehorn them into existing rides and every corner of Epcot is ridiculous. Then he goes on to quote Walt about Epcot and how it "will never cease to be a living blueprint of the future" when we know that Walt had a completely different vision for Epcot. He wanted to create an actual, functioning city to test out futuristic stuff. What in the world does Guardians of The Galaxy have to do with the future and how society progresses? You cannot just quote Walt for what you want to interpret what he he meant, in order to justify inserting IP's everywhere. He wasn't looking to build a theme park. I'm sorry but I just have to disagree with you when you say Disney knows what they are doing. Every individual or company is bound to do not so smart things. You can't say Disney knows what they are doing because they're Disney and everything will be fine; criticism is necessary. And I know some people will disagree just for the sake of disagreeing. But many people like myself genuinely care about the parks and want to voice their genuine concern. One of my concerns is the Disney is overly focused on expansion rather than fixing buildings and existing rides. There are several noticeable holes right before the last lift hill on Splash Mountain, half the bees on Splash don't work, some lights on Space Mountain don't work, Jack Sparrow's mouth articulation is frozen, there is an obviously exposed speaker above the treasure mound scene in Pirates, Indiana Jones has so many defunct effects like the rotating chamber or the blasts of air in the skeleton scene, the second floor of star wars launch bay is unusable because the roof is collapsing, half of the submarines are not functioning, some of the trains are down, I could go on. It's just that these malfunctions have persisted for a very long time and all these new expansions will begin to not look so good next to all these deteriorating rides/structures. People will begin to notice the neglect of the upkeep and be upset that the rides aren't being kept to the Disney standard. Revision is very important.

I also listen to Matterhorn Matt and Alex the Historian. Some of their shows are really the quality of network television. They often talk about Walt Disney and the original Disneyland They mention the fact that while Disney has to grow it should also pay attention to the detail just as you suggested in your post. I have also watched the PBS special on Walt many times. One of the best examples of detail is the red and white light bulb in one of the shops and I have seen that in many vids. I do not remember where I heard this specifically but it is often mentioned and I also listen to videos with interviews from some of the original Imagineers. Tony Baxter is interesting and a wealth of information as far as history. He will be speaking at the end of this month in Florida about the original trains and I think it is the Carolwood Society. I would love to hear him talk in person someday. In the most recent Matterhorn Matt Alex and Matt discussed the train at Disneyland and said it definitely needed to be repaired.

People have strong memories of their time at Disney parks. To see that take a drastically different direction in these changes can feel like an assault on those memories. If we have a tree we sat under every day as a kid, we will be strongly against it being chopped down. Even if it is being removed for a very good reason. EPCOT has always had trouble making money if moving in IPs makes it profitable and keeps Disney solvent then that's the right thing to do. I say this already mourning the EPCOT of my youth and how it is pretty much already gone. A profitable Disney means an expanding Disney. We all want more Disney parks/attractions. Walts dreams were often waylaid by costs, we need to support profitability so there CAN be better quality content and not any shrinkage of rides we already love.
@jmn327
@jmn327 5 жыл бұрын
When did EPCOT have trouble making money?
@naosstulos
@naosstulos 5 жыл бұрын
EPCOTs profitability was always heavily based on sponsorship. Each pavilion had a sponsor who footed most of the costs of the ride and upkeep in exchange for advertisement. As those companies interest waned(GM-World of Motion) or they had financial problems(Kodak-Journey into Imagination) Disney found it extremely difficult to replace those sponsors and found themselves footing the bill. TBH, EPCOT has been a financial problem in Disney's side for 30 years. Some could even argue it was never very profitable since its opening. EPCOT is nowhere near what it was envisioned to be since its beginning and money has always been the problem there. If opening the door to character IPs saves the future of EPCOT and can help it grow(Especially toward its original vision for the World Showcase). I am all in.
@jmn327
@jmn327 5 жыл бұрын
@@naosstulos I'm aware of the sponsor model, but I can't find any evidece that EPCOT's ever had a profitability issue. If there's been one, I'd presume it'd have begun once the company began utterly neglecting the park in the late 90s, but again I can't find anything. Given this current management regime, I don't look to IP to save anything about original visions; under Iger and Chapek, IPs ARE the vision. It's all they've done since they've been in charge in the domestic parks.
@naosstulos
@naosstulos 5 жыл бұрын
@@jmn327 My father helped build EPCOT and mother worked there and at the surrounding DISNEY parks for 25+ years. So I got a lot of the insider info as I was growing up. I can say without a doubt that EPCOTs profitability has always been an issue. Before Hollywood(MGM) Studios it was by far the least profitable park in all of Disney and would consistently get ~25% less visitors than The Magic Kingdom in California. The cost vs. profit ratio for EPCOT has always been an issue, but it was one that was hidden intentionally until it got outed when sponsors started pulling out of the park. The original World Showcase was supposed to have 31 countries represented(See EPCOT history in this very same channel. Wonderful job BTW Offhand Disney) and opened with 9. They have been stuck at 11 for a long while now as it has been very difficult to get country sponsorship for the parks.
@jmn327
@jmn327 5 жыл бұрын
@@naosstulos That's really not very accurate. For one, the World Showcase is not designed to support 31 pavilions; it has expansion pads, yes, but can only support 19 total countries, and was designed with the idea of future expansion in mind (future management had different ideas, though it appears Brazil might be on the way). Secondly, the sponsors pulling out isn't a matter of the park's profitability, it's a matter of the entire business model of park sponsorships on the scale of the original park becoming outdated. Also, attendance was not an issue at all in the park's first decade-plus of existence; it still mostly isn't, Magic Kingdom just draws THAT many people, but even so that doesn't really impact the bottom line when you factor in food/drink/merch sales and the fact that an operating second gate creates more business overall by keeping people on WDW property longer. Upkeep and maintenance was undoubtedly costly for the large pavilions of Future World, but the current project they're undertaking dwarfs those costs given the problems that were allowed to compound over the years. I don't doubt that your parents heard things, but going by insiders with sources within the higher echelons of the company, most of that doesn't hold true.

@@stevenlanzarotta9576 The thing of that is, the revitalized Beastly Kingdom would be compared too much with The Lost Continent, which is effectively the concept of the purported original Animal Kingdom add-on that never materialized alongside Dino Land U.S.A (Instead, Camp Minnie-Mickey, a meet-and-greet spot for the mice couple wearing their jungle safari outfits that was originally just meant to be a temporary placeholder, was hastily installed in what was to be Beastly Kingdom's section of Animal Kingdom after Michael Eisner felt that budget constraints could only support the creation of one themed land due to the finances being whittled down from the creation of Animal Kingdom in general & the colossal failure that was Disneyland Paris under its previous EuroDisney moniker), only it ended up at Universal Studios rather than Disney's Animal Kingdom like originally advertised. Furthermore, mythical creatures have existed throughout Disney's history, with or without a corresponding land for them to call home. However, if they're going to expand on the mythological aspects & add in dragons (Maleficent's transformation at the end of _Sleeping Beauty_ , Elliot from _Pete's Dragon_ & Figment of E.P.C.OT's defunct Journey Into Imagination attraction, notwithstanding or perhaps, allowing these characters to make sporadic appearances within what would've been Beastly Kingdom had it been completed), give Tink & her fae friends something of purpose (Pixie Hollow does nothing, because there's really nothing that ties it to any pre-existing land, outside of Tink's association with _Peter Pan_ from the James M. Barrie stories, hence its existence in Fantasyland nearby _Peter Pan's Flight_ for obvious reasons), bring in centaurs/satyrs (this could also incorporate Phil of 1997's _Hercules_ & Mr. Tumnus from _The Chronicles of Narnia_ & the ones from that particular segment in _Fantasia_ from 1940), give elves - who are different from dwarves (obviously referencing the seven [Grumpy, Bashful, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy, Doc & Dopey] with OG princess _Snow White_ as the first theatrical animated feature that Disney ever produced), mind you, although both are literal representations of little persons (usually often defined by the OZian term "munchkin" or by the potentially derogatory euphemism "midget"), except that elves have enhanced abilities (this does not include shoemaking like in the classic fable of _The Elves & the Shoemaker_ because anyone can be a cobbler no matter the size, it's just that elves seem to be more associated with the skill when they aren't otherwise getting hired by Santa Claus to help make toys ahead of the Christmas holiday, are unfortunately made subservient to all-powerful wizards & witches in the _Harry Potter_ world, are thought to be prone to mischief-making in traditional lore & in the _Artemis Fowl_ books soon to be adapted into feature films, they serve as members of the People's Lower Elements Police Recon - yes, it is a cheesy "Leprechaun" pun - team, lead by spunky female redhead Holly Short as team captain), whereas dwarves generally don't (outside of digging out precious gems as part of their miner's occupation, of course) - a presence in the park (especially with Disney now having film distribution rights to any movie adaptation of Eoin Colfer's _Artemis Fowl_ books [featuring the titular teenage reformed ex-criminal genius, his hulking manservant Butler & their growing partnership with the People, in particular Arty's possible budding relationship - whatever it is - with the aforementioned Holly Short] & perhaps also calling back to mind the Disney Channel Original Movie _The Luck of the Irish_ as well), they should make it at least similar to Beastly Kingdom yet maybe title it beneath the more expansive _Artemis Fowl_ branding so that each type of mythical creature has their time to shine, seeing as every type of mythological creature openly exists in the books of _Artemis Fowl_ but they remain hidden from the human world well below ground, because those who spearhead the People's affairs with humans on the surface are very well aware of humanity's propensity to exploit magical things for its own selfish gain.

I think the main reason most people dislike more and more ip’s coming into the parks is because they are wanting original new stuff from the imagineers. Having everything be IP based doesn’t allow them to be 100% creative and who knows what we could get if they did have creative freedom. I think the same thing is happening in the film industry. The 70’s and 80’s allowed artist and directors to take risks but now everyone is just lazy and working on remakes and sequels. Great video though! I agree 100% about people being contrarians. Thank you very much for this. I've been seeing all the Epcot despair and it honestly gives me secondhand despair. Apparently that's possible. I was watching the stream and was so *happy* with how Epcot was being treated. The notion that people got mad at what they saw was downright _baffling_ to me and made me think the world's gone mad. There are things I'm gonna miss a lot, like the Fountain of Nations, but I also know that Epcot in 2019 is just... well it's hard to imagine a first-timer finding the architecture and aesthetic to be anything but tired. I LOVE the pink neon skirting the edges of Innoventions, but ya gotta admit it's a special kind of love that is way more nostalgia than it is inspired. Anyway, of course it will be sad to go back to Epcot and have it be completely different from the memories of my childhood, but it so badly needs refreshing and what they plan to do looks amazing, respectful to the original Epcot concept, and best of all, inspiring. That's what Epcot needs to be, and I would rather see some IP-heavy attractions pull people in so they can explore the rest of the wonderful park, than to keep hoping people will be drawn in because it's Epcot. 'Cause that ain't working anymore.

But to address a non-Star Wars point. IP content has its place, but I think IPs could arguably be viewed as lazy imagineering. Epcot also felt special because it didn't rely on IP at all and now that differentiation is rapidly going away. I don't feel strongly about it personally but totally understand the appeal for fresh creativity in the parks instead of what will sell more action figures. IP can be used as a crutch (or to achieve marketing synergy) instead of coming up with something creative and new. Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Phantom Manor, Mystic Manor are all great examples where imagineers came up with something whole cloth. I think there's a place for IP rides but Epcot was fairly unique in not having them. But I think it's bigger than just Disney parks, it's Disney films and really Hollywood in general... there's no willingness to take the risk of doing something new and creative and instead there's over reliance on questionable remakes and existing IP.

At the end of the day, Hollywood is a business, and they need to make money - fair enough - but when the majority of the movies coming out have budgets of $100-200 MILLION dollars or more in a lot of cases, risking on an unknown idea doesn't look too appealing, despite the fact that I think a large chunk of moviegoers are actually craving something new and fresh.

Walt explicitly stated that Disneyland would, in part, be a museum: “The idea of Disneyland is a simple one. It will be a place for people to find happiness and knowledge. It will be a place for parents and children to share pleasant times in one another’s company; a place for teachers and pupils to discover greater ways of understanding and education. Here the older generation can recapture the nostalgia of days gone by, and the younger generation can savor the challenge of the future. Here will be the wonders of Nature and Man for all to see and understand. Disneyland will be based upon and dedicated to the ideals, the dreams and hard facts that have created America. And it will be uniquely equipped to dramatize these dreams and facts and send them forth as a source of courage and inspiration to all the world. Disneyland will be sometimes a fair, an exhibition, a playground, a community center, a museum of living facts, and a showplace of beauty and magic. It will be filled with accomplishments, the joys and hopes of the world we live in. And it will remind us and show us how to make these wonders part of our own lives.” The "Disneyland is not a museum" mantra is something that Imagineering invented whenever they were criticized for doing something badly.

@@mcblocks123 The biggest crossover, aside from Roger Rabbit, of course, but that was back when Disney was feeling the effects of its Dark Age before the Renaissance & Warner Brothers needed Disney to fall back on, seeing as without Disney, there would not be a competing Warner Brothers either, because in the inkblot cartoon days of "Rubber hose" animation, in which everything was sentient & had a face - to the point that even inanimate objects were given cartoonish, human facial features, well ahead of Disney harking back to it upon turning the transfigured Prince's servants into Enchanted Objects in _Beauty & the Beast _ (in 1991 & 2017, respectively) - Disney's Oswald was ripped from them by greedy Universal (due to copyright laws not benefiting creators at the time but rather supporting the distributors instead), however Mickey & Friends were thereby created in response to losing Oswald, yet fledgling Warner Brothers basically took the Oswald template & made it into a non-politically correct little black boy of undetermined origins named Bosko with a lookalike girlfriend named Honey as WB's first animated character, more or less essentially created Porky Pig out of a stockier version of what resembles Practical Pig from _The Three Little Pigs_ Silly Symphony but made Porky uniquely stand out by giving him an iconic stuttering speech impediment, created insanely greedy Daffy Duck off the back of Donald Duck's success, created the "Two-Tone" trio of fox couple Foxy & Roxy with their piano prodigy doglike humanoid friend Goopy Geer as Warner Brothers' attempt to purposely mooch off of Mickey & Minnie and Dippy Dawg/George Geef/Goofy (the "Two-Tones" also became the template for the _Animaniacs_ sibling trio Yakko, Wakko & Dot after the idea to have them be ducks was aborted when execs at WB felt that ducks had been "done to death" [their company's own Daffy & his pupil Plucky, as well as Disney's already extensive Duck family tree - Donald, Huey, Dewey & Louie, Ludwig Von Drake, Scrooge McDuck, Launchpad McQuack, Darkwing Duck, etc. - not to mention bad box office bomb Howard the Duck based on the questionable comic of the same name, vampiric duck Duckula airing in syndication & rather adult cartoon series Duckman on MTV] & therefore, went to the inkwell again to use the "Two-Tones" first in _Animaniacs'_ predecessor series _Tiny Toon Adventures_ as a nice throwback, before then basically reusing the entire idea for the basis behind the 3 zany Warner siblings as 3 Toons from those bygone days too crazy to be let loose on the unsuspecting public, who then made their grand escape from 1993-1998 & are returning again for 2 seasons in 2020, airing surprisingly on now Disney-owned Hulu, despite _Animaniacs_ being a Warner Brothers ["And the Warner Sister!" ~Dot] property) & basically modeled their original 1940's starting design of stalwart mascot Bugs Bunny on one of Universal's independent designs of Oswald, well before Disney got Oswald back in return for newscaster Al Michaels in 2012.

Also, after I seize control of Disney in a hostile takeover, all decisions will be made by asking "what would Walt do?" again like they were for years after his death. I will bring back the Great Movie Ride behind other studios backs using those movies free and FYI Disney never paid a cent for use of those movies. The only thing they would've had to pay for is the real Judy Garland's voice. The TCM sponsorship didn't happen until 2014. All the media giants are getting broken up. The AOL-Time Warner merger will be undone, Comcast will reduced back to nothing but a cable company, even AT&T will be reduced back to nothing but a telephone company and be nationalized. All actors will be back under contract to one studio at a time again and that means MGM will return to its former glory with "more stars than there are in the heavens." This ended up a bit longer and a little more ramble-y than I intended, but I've been stewing on this for the last day. I am one of those people with stronger feelings about this. Not "boycott the parks" strong, but still pretty unhappy. I will also preface this by saying Epcot, particularly Future World, has (had?) been my favorite place since I was a kid. You said that Disneyland opened with IP based attractions, and yes that true, but I'd like to counter point by saying it also opened with, and in the next 10 or so years added, many classic attractions NOT based on any IP at the time (and in fact became IP just from their existing in a Disney park). I'm talking Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Tiki Room, and "Small World", to name a few. All of these are still very to extremely popular to this day. Heck, the PeopleMover isn't based on IP and people still want it back over there, and the one at Magic Kingdom still gets huge lines. The point is that a new attraction does not have to be based on an existing IP to have that "Disney magic" or be very popular. Hopefully you can see why some people might be a little irked when they completely replace a classic, often aging, attraction with yet another thrill ride based on an existing IP, rather than updating said attraction to make it new again (hopefully learning from Imagination, where they in fact did fail the first time [though to be fair that was partially Kodak's fault, and sponsors are another issue entirely]). Take the feelings you have for the Haunted Mansion overlay and imagine that it's only a moderately popular ride, Disney was going to make the overlay permanent, and they're going to make it a fast thrill ride now. How would that make you feel? There's also an element of removing/destroying Disney history or landmarks of the parks. Take the Fountain of Nations for example; it was a real spectacle back in the day, being one of the first modern dancing fountains. But it fell into disrepair for a long time, leaving few of the jets working, which is not very fun to watch. Then Disney announced their plans; and instead of fixing the fountain and planning around it, they're just going to fill it in and put a limited use building (that's frankly ugly) smack dab in the center of (for now) Future World just so they can sell some VIP seats for HarmoniUS. All that said, I don't mind when they add in something like the Ratatouille ride. Why? Because nothing was lost with its addition. They didn't bulldoze or re-theme the entire France pavilion, and they didn't replace an opening day attraction for it; it's just new. Or with Gran Fiesta Tour at Mexico; it's still almost the exact same ride, all they did was add the Three Caballeros and changed the tourism board narration. And while a new attraction might be good (Frozen Ever After [I hope they update it with the Belle animatronic tech; those projections honestly don't look very good]), it will never replace the original (Maelstrom). And I can be excited for Galaxy's Edge (WDW), but I'm still sad over the loss of all the back lot attractions; and to this note, the somewhat loss of identities to Epcot and Studios (both used to have edutainment elements that are pretty much gone now). I hope this helps to see where some of us are coming from. It's not just purely "I hate change", it's more "I'm unhappy with their chosen direction/they could do better (it's Disney after all)".

Hard truth about Star Wars is that Disney has to completely go with the Classic Stuff. These movies haven't had the chance to build any kind of devoted fan base that is even in the realm of what they had with Classic Films. Making their Star Wars world more of a contemporary Star Wars experience as apposed to Classic Star Wars experience was a huge misstep. Its like comparing the Rolling Stones with Coldplay. Disney acquired Star Wars and immediately went all-in on alienating the fans. It's hard for me to sympathize with the crybullying against old school Star Wars fans that goes on. With the Internet there will always be a few bad eggs to cherry-pickquotes from but most of the fans I know were only irritated that the focus was not on making better stories and that they'd made characters they did not find as compelling as the old ones.

@OGamerGirl92
@OGamerGirl92 5 жыл бұрын
Exactly there was no reason for that. The entire premise was to pay homage to santa monica pier, the one thing of the old cali adventure that stayed. Now it just feels like disney is shoving Pixar down everyones throats more with that overhaul. There are some things I wish would remain the same, pirates is one of them. Because so many people complained and bitched and moaned about the realness of a pirate's life (which is what walt wanted) they changed it and said due to the complaints they were changing it. Yes, there were only 2 female pirates mostly known but that took away from walt's vision and the work my grandfather did on there. Now its arguable that the POC Movie overlay was trash, however that I kinda liked, but do I miss the original pirates? Absolutely that is my favorite ride.

@@OGamerGirl92 Overall, I think the fear Disney Park fans have developed come from the past replacements that were downgrades of what came before, but opinions on some are different for each person. The problem I believe is that people see things as a replacement than plussed or even a natural progression thereof. Some ideas: Monas water experience - I hope they do some really cool things with laminar flow (jumping fountains near figment). Festival plaza and gardens - perhaps a throwback from communicore and have video conferencing hologram terminals or robots (smrt1) act as the Disney experience team. Guardians of the galaxy - have the ride centered around the anulax batteries scene where you are riding the coaster and fighting the monster. The preshow area is where rocket tells the story about the various methods of energy and how they suck compared to the anulax batteries. Also, reinstall the dinos in MK and display them in a room in the new Tron section on the train track. Mexico pavilion and the three caballeros - in the Día de Muertos scene - add Coco animatronic and fiber opic bridge that lights up to the sky.

I mean she doesn't Let it Go when she is singing the song, she still shuts herself off and hides, so she is lying to herself (She lied to us through song, I hate when people do that!) They should have had her and Anna sing it together at the end of the movie to show she had truly, finally moved on, and I'm just a dude not a screen writer and I KNOW THAT. Plus that snowman is just pointless, but that is a different issue. She can create life? Undesirables are the ones who are demanding Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and other IP inclusion in the parks with no regard for originality and even complained about the auction scene in Pirates along with demanding that Jack Sparrow be added as well. One of my top priorities after seizing the Disney company in a hostile takeover and being the Donald Trump it needs to make it great again is to raze Galaxy's Edge to the ground like it never existed along with all Marvel attractions. Galaxy's Edge has absolutely NO right to exist. No lands based on single IPs allowed in Walt's park, period. Not that it matters anyway because Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, ABC, everything Iger bought is getting taken away from Disney because the company will be getting broken up by Capitol Hill under antitrust. Star Wars will be back in George Lucas' hands and he should never have been allowed to sell. @WhiteFlagsFly YT First of all I have no problem expunging IPs I don't want in the park. Fantasyland is supposed to be the ghetto for IPs. I plan on carrying out the "Final Solution to the Star Wars and Marvel problems" and destroy all traces of them in the parks. I plan to erase all traces of both Crooked Bob Iger and Cheapie Chapek as if they were never at Disney. I even plan to write a book about their times at Disney and fill it with slanderous attacks against not just them, but their families as well so they'll be run out of the entertainment industry. By getting rid of all traces of Marvel, that means Tower of Terror can come back and I plan enforcing the California theming of California Adventure. I also have no problem with ousting the kids who complained "where's Jack Sparrow?" in Pirates which led to his inclusion and the snowflakes who complained about the original chase scene and the wench auction. By restoring those scenes along with being the boss of Disney who had the guts to finally release Song of the South, I don't mind if it causes those snowflakes to scream "Disney is a racist and sexist company that supports Donald Trump!" and organize a national movement to boycott all Disney products. They won't be missed. I plan to abolish synergy in the parks and replace it with corporate segregation, keeping the parks and the studios far apart from each other. If asking "what would Walt do?" keeps Disney trapped in the 1960s forever, so be it. Also, I'll inform you that Disney can survive on its name alone. When people see "Disney" they will come. (That is, don't make us pre-plan every minute 90 days in advance.) Restore the PeopleMover at Disneyland. Add more Jean Lafitte to Pirates of the Caribbean. See how easy it is to make HAPPY changes?

@@howtubeable what at all was bad about them? And I don't think you can weigh it as if the changes were good or bad people would like them or not. There was complaints about the Malestrom closing to make way for Frozen and barely anybody rides it, the same could be said for The Great Movie Ride. They're adding on new sections to Epcot world showcase without replacing pre existing areas sounds good to me. They created a full two day Star Warz experience sounds inventive. We have yet to even experience the changes so how can it even be compared?

@@OffhandDisney About 50% of the time the change is amazing. Changes that actually improve an attraction, building on it or adding to the park without taking anything away tend not to be criticized. I've encountered very few people who dislike Constance or the Hatbox Ghost, for instance, or who are complaining about Tropical Hideaway. But when a change detracts from an attraction, removes something from the park, or otherwise diminishes the experience, that's when you get criticism. The repeated vandalism to Pirates of the Caribbean, the renovations for Club 33, and taking out the Tower of Terror rank right up there. Yes Guardians of the Galaxy has its own fanbase, but it's a demonstrably worse ride despite having better technology, and is running up against an attraction that had its own dedicated fanbase. Let's be honest: people who are cynical about changes to Disney parks have ample evidence to support their cynicism. Disney doesn't bat it out of the ballpark 99% of the time. Even technologically good things are like "why does this exist?!" (ahem, Avatar) On the other hand, people who just love everything Disney does can also find ample evidence to support their optimism. It's neither one nor the other. I suspect a lot of it comes down to whether you love Disney because you're loyal to the brand or because you like what they do. If you're loyal to the brand then anything would satisfy (I still can't get over how many people suddenly became instant Marvel and Star Wars fans just because Disney bought them), but if you like Disney for what they do then you might be more cynical about them muddying the waters of what you liked. Getting rid of the Tower of Terror didn't make me suddenly love Guardians of the Galaxy... It made me not want to bother going to California Adventure again, and plan a trip to Yosemite instead.

@@CoryTheRaven I love Hattie being back, but Connie's Black Widow murderess background detracts from Disney's "Happiest Place On Earth" public image & the Ghost Host's own insistence that "We've 999 HAPPY Haunts here, but there's room for 1,000. Any volunteers? Hmmm?" since Constance's status as a unfeeling bride who only married her wealthy suitors for their fortunes before beheading them makes her a heartless bitch, yet you can still hear the previously forlorn "Beating Heart" Bride's persistent heartbeat in the Attic's soundtrack, being drowned out by the ghostly pianist playing the Bridal March ("Here Comes the Bride") louder than how it was usually played & Connie's catty "Married, until Death Due Us Part" comments directing the Doombuggies her way, causing doombugs to point out how bad her digitized projection is (the same is true for the Hitchhiking Ghosts mirror trickery nowadays, since it is digitally superimposed in, rather than using the practical audio-animatronics of decades past) when compared to the classic "Pepper's Ghost" effects & traditional Disney magic otherwise used throughout the attraction.

You can disprove the chart you made just by remembering Horizons and Mission Space. Disney replaced something great with something horrible. And Epcot was not like MK, Epcot wasn’t supposed to even be a theme park, so putting any IP in it at all is kind of a slap in the face to Walt, who on his deathbed was planning room interiors for Epcot, not ride IPs

Thank you for saying what has needed to be said for fandoms in general. I believe that part of the reason that this fear and hatred to change, especially in regards to Disney, is that for a lot of people, myself included, have held onto Disney as one of their very few constants in this ever changing world. Upon realizing my ridiculous anger as I grew older, I decided to try to stop doing so, if only to protect my own mental health. Because of this, I have found myself more excited whenever I see something new being done within a community that I love instead of dreading the change as it comes. Granted, I have still had disappointments (though few and far between), but when I do, I try to think that what’s come has made a kid’s dream come true, just as the old part of the park did for me at that age.

I agree with basically everything you say. I love Epcot, it’s probably my favorite park to be in. I really like the idea of Journey of Water and think it will be cool. The thing I don’t agree with but can see why they are doing it is making that area of Epcot timeless. I know we won’t ever get the original idea Walt had for Epcot but they at least kept the idea of the park being a place for experimental technology of tomorrow. With this new update they are making it timeless. It’s most likely because it just costs too much to keep updating everything so it stays futuristic. But that out-of-date future of the past has a bit of charm to it that I like. It’s similar to the last scene of Carousel of Progress where everything is sorta outdated and is in need for a change but it’s also cool to look at what the past thought our lives would be like to compare it to what we actually have. So it’s reasonable why they have to make Epcot timeless but it still seems like Epcot is gonna keep that futuristic feel where it’s a timeless futurism. Which is still nice. I’m excited to see what happens.

The only problem with Avengers Campus... The collectors fortress still stands out. Why on earth is there a villains lair on a campus 😱😂😂😂 Still, shoehorning in an IP just because it's an IP is the other side of the medal. Guardians isn't a bad overlay for tower, but it isn't an improvement persé. My personal problem with this specific example is that you can still see the original design that was basically just repainted. It looks like a temporary overlay of tower on the outside. Again, not a bad ride, but given the ideas put into the remodeling DCA, it seems like they truly just want to cash in on their IP. what's even "worse" is that the IP itself moved on. The rides narrative isn't timeless the way it was.

Not gonna lie, if I was a Disneyland passholder and was blocked out from Galaxy's Edge, I'd be pretty mad. I understand WHY Disney would choose to do it, since people who tend to go to Disneyland are locals and can come back anytime really, and the block out was temporary, but as a consumer, it's definitely a turn off. As far as bringing IPs into the park, I don't really mind. Like you said in the video, it's been happening since the very beginning. I do think it's a bit sad when a ride that was original to the parks get's replaced with an IP attraction, but I feel like that's more so a reflection of how the majority of people's views of the parks are changing. They go to Disney parks expecting to see the Disney IP they're familiar with. I think what disappointed me about Tower of Terror in California getting replaced with Mission Breakout was how the tone of the ride had seemingly changed; it's no longer a horror/thriller ride, but instead an action/adventure ride (this is just based on what I've seen of the ride online to be honest, since I haven't been to Disneyland in a long while. I could be wrong about that assumption). I hope these thoughts make sense!! I feel like I kinda just rambled a bit.

Original Disney fans don't like these movies. There are plenty of Disney animated movies that can create countless of amazing attractions! But why the don't choose from these, and they choose from the films to create attractions? Such as Avatar and Marvel, for example... By the way, most people prefer the "Tangled" rather than "Frozen". So why they don't build an attraction on that movie? And one more thing, is that I Only say a Big YES and I support the changes at the Epcot park.

I felt like you were on a decent path until you reached the Star Wars section. The negativity around Star Wars as a Disney IP stems heavily from disservice and disrespect that they shown towards the original trilogy. It isn't that there is change, it's that they find the change honestly insulting; with ruining of the original characters to drag them down so the new characters can seem better. Han becomes a deadbeat father who doesn't know where he parked the Falcon. Luke becomes a bitter old hermit that's given up on everything. Leia has fared better and yet she feels hollow, which is likely attributable to Carrie's passing and the resultant CGI protrail. The writing quality just isn't as good, the story feels incomprehensible, the new cast feels unable to carry the mantle. And then going into Galaxy's Edge with that, it is nothing but the news chapter. Which isn't what the fandom wants; so yes they will be critical of it. It's not the Star Wars that they want to come to the park for. And to simply slap a label of toxic across all of the complaints is in of itself a very poor faith, and rather uninformed disregarding of people's concerns regarding everything. I truthfully find it very disappointing that you would go with such low hanging fruit. Also I respectfully disagree and believe that Star Tours does belong in Tomorrowland. But Space Mountain should definitely be restored to its former glory of being its own unique experience, and original trilogy stuff should be in Galaxy's Edge.
