You need Lightfall for rank 6 now because the new helm vendor quest requires you to rank them up twice I know because I don't own any dlc and thankfully played before because rank 6 unlocks titles

Loved the idea, hated the execution. Those first five ranks could be folded into like 2 ranks, and everyone starts at lvl 3 instead. Then we could all experience climbing the ranks based on slightly shorter lists of prerequisites, instead of bunching everything that most players will be doing into one massive list. Everyone is just level 6 always and forever and it means nothing to me. At least with the season rank, I could actually get a piece of information about the player.

I haven't played the game in 6 months and still copleted the legends lost sector solo flawless 50 levels below in about 3 attemps. If you are an actual veteran and you play the game regularly and you still can't do it, then you 100% don't deserve the rank up.

I have played Destiny since Beta D1, I have completed nearly 300 raids spanning the two games. I have Solo-Flawlessed every dungeon in Destiny 2, Flawlessed 3 raids, and solo completed the legend campaigns in Witch Queen and Lightfall. I have every available exotic (including armor) and have completed every catalyst. I have gone Flawless in trials nearly 40 times, and have completed more titles than I can remember. I have done 60 gms and gilded Conqueror, Flawless, and Unbroken multiples times. I have managed to win a Bungie Bounty, I completed the original Luna's Howl and Mountaintop quests, and have been in notable high-end clans. I have climbed the mountain that is the Destiny franchise and have seen all that one could. Why the heck am I only Guardian rank 6??

To be honest the only good thing that Guardian Ranks has brought to the table is the ability to discern much easier which player has the higher probability of being toxic. The higher the rank the more likely the player will be toxic. Of course it is not the case for all but at least a majority of high rank guardians I've seen turned out that way.

The only title I truly grinded for was the chronicler one. And that was only because i got one of the criteria done that i never thought i could get done at the time. On my main character as a true badge of honor and accomplishment.

It’s probably because the higher ranks are meant for hardcore destiny players I mean past level 7 you get into dungeons and solo them flawlessly and raid’s complete without dying it gets crazy then you have grandmaster complete them without dying I think most people are just gonna ignore guardian ranks they should never been added they are pointless and so are commendations they are shoe horned in and we don’t need them

There’s a certain satisfaction when you’re rolling through something that once made you fell such adversity. Like riding your bike without training wheels for the first time Haha Look Pa! It would be nice if it was a separate rank like our artifact power bonus. Where Rank 1-5 is intro 6-10 is post game up to the harder endgame content and this is all permanent. And the current season would have between 2-3 ranks that could be completed that would be added to your total rank. This would both show a player’s ability towards existing content such as dungeons/raids/nightfalls/trials as well as show their current experience with the seasonal content that’s currently live.

That being said, the flawless requirement has absolutely no business whatsoever being needed to go from 6 to 7. Should've been at a higher rank.

What sucks is that this expansion is garbage so far, I just looked at the requirements for all the ranks and I literally have all of them done till max level, but its not worth reguilding conq, reaching max level, flawless solo master lost sector, solo spire, etc all over again just for bragging rights that will probably last 2 weeks by the time I'm done. I exhausted myself from destiny in witch queen and I was hoping to continue the same energy in lightfall seeing all the hype and marketing, but it just feels like I'm repeating the grind all over again with a single new raid added to the pile. I'm disappointed beyond belief man, the new armor mod system has turned me off so hard that I see myself quitting destiny this year.

I do hate that they force the people who are new to Destiny 2 to play Legendary Lost Sectors to advance to 7. They don’t have much exotics or legendaries, they haven’t tried much of the pvp content, Gambit or Vanguard or the Shadowkeep,Beyond Light, Witch Queen Campaigns but they force them to play Lightfall and Legendary Lost Sectors, even play one without dying #MakeSomeSense

If they really wanted a system to measure experience, why didn't they just make the ranks give points/experience to contribute to leveling up through challenges each season(rather than xp as that has a possibility of being exploited) then if you stay dedicated and continue to do the seasonal challenges your rank will continue to progress onwards without then(rather than resetting to rank 6 each time a season ends and a new one begins).

Guardian ranks are to hold the hands of new players in the beginning obviously if you are a veteran you start at 6 and they fill it in the beginning ranks for you and now the grind is to just do hard shit moving forward which isn't bad but I don't think they will revert us all to 6 at the end of the season I think lvl 11 will be where you start the next season at so basically as seasons go that level will be more valuable so if a new player starts and they see you at say level 15 they know your skill level is high.

Minus the seasonal requirements, majority of veterans have already done lvl 7 requirements so it’s kind of a slap in the face to be put in 6 with most raid, dungeon and seasonal titles. And when you play on PS4 you won't get past rank 4 without ps+ which is needed for the vanguard ops mission. Which simply means, that you have to pay additional 60$ when you start ps+ and extra 60$ if you want to fully enjoy the game, which is the witch queen, lightfall, and shadow keep.. which means that from free to play game, you need to pay at least 120$ to progress in game. Game development at its finest

My issue with guardian ranks is that the rank is meaningless. The whole idea behind it is to be able to tell someone's general experience with the game at a glance. Instead, everyone who has even touched Destiny for more than an hour starts at rank 6. You need to purchase Lightfall to even get to rank 7. You could be the world's greatest flawless raider ever with 10,000 raid clears and nobody would be able to tell from that number over your head. At this point, your title tells me more about your skill level than the 6 over your head. It has become meaningless white noise. This system plus the Commendations need to go back to the drawing board. Both systems are meant to show player knowledge and give a rough estimate of player skill. Instead, we all have the same meaningless number over our heads and give out participation trophies during missions. The idea behind both is solid, but the implementation is raw and not well thought out.

Your Power Level Without The Artifact Power Boost, Is The One You Are Looking At, When Hovering Over Your Power Level. So If You’ve Got A Power Level of 1792, With A Plus 10 Artifact Power Boost, Then You’re Not Yet Over 1800 At Base Power Level. you have to complete bounties. 8 for banshee and 8 zavala would prob be easiest. thats what im stuck on now myself, but i got 8 banshee done and it says im halfway there, so now ill work on zavalas. you can fo crucible or gambit bounties as well to complete this. if you go to tower map, ho er over their symbol and it will tell you how many you completed. they will have a blue star as a symbol until you complete the bounties.

I feel like destiny players really complains to much, it wasn't a bad idea and it's not 'badly executed", first you're saying it make no sens that you are 6 even if u didn't do some of the quest but the "journey" is here to accompaigned new player through their new journey, which is the destiny experience. It clearly was easier to put the veteran at level 6 (they would have complain if they spawned lvl 1 :) ) and just let them grind to higher level, because that's what destiny is about, grinding. Second you're complaining about commendation stuff but tbh it is normal that they include their new features in the grind, same for seasonnal activity. I agree on the fact that 750 is a lot tho, especialy when you try to get them fast and that's the only thing that hold you from level 7. Even then it's a seasonal features so you have time. Last I'd say it's a late content features so if you're stuck it means you're not good enough and shouldn't go for it, take your time and get better guardian. Remember to enjoy the game and stop expecting things as you want them to be

Keep an eye out for any Legend Lost Sectors in the EDZ. I was in the same boat about a week ago. Have mods and just keep your distance, clears some ads, stun Champion, finish clearing ads then Soley concentrate on Champion. Stun and run is good for switching cover or taking the high ground. Use Strand with suspension, Malfeasance paired with Lucky Pants. I believe in you.
