It irks me when people say he's employing other Black people. Yeah, he's employing Black people in front of the camera, but he's not providing *any* opportunities for Black folks behind the scenes (i.e. writers, directors, producers and just Black creatives in general) And it's not like any of these actors he's "employing" are going on to have big careers outside of his low budget movies and TV shows. If anything it probably damages their careers because every one is pointing and laughing at them for being in such a low budget mess. Black folks really need to raise their standards and stop settling for his mediocre nonsense. There are other Black creatives who we could be supporting who actually put out high quality work like, Ava Duvernay, Issa Rae, Jordan Peel etc. to be settling for such buffoonery

Watch the set up of the black woman done wrong. Leave and clean the kitchen or nap for a bit. Come back for the last 15 or so minutes to watch the villain get punished and the happy ending. A bad movie isn’t fun for me if it’s too predictable.

DarksideBallerina Diary of a Mad Black Woman was the only one I enjoyed and it was the first one I watched. Literally every other movie is just like that one. I've always said that some of the older movies were better based on the strength of the cast, and I'm glad you picked it out. I've been revisiting the Why Did I Get Married's so my youngest brother could experience for the first time and they really do hold up. (Same for the Family that Preys, Brown Sugar, Daddy's Girls etc.)

Exactly, Tyler will continue to do the way he is doing because we keep supporting but we don't want to STOP SUPPORTING we just want my boo to DO BETTER, SHOW SOME GROWTH AND YOUR AMAZING SKILLS IN BETTER ASPECTS OF 'US'...hire others of US to be in your writing room to not only show THEIR WORK ETHIC but different views and perspectives of us so you can continue to succeed without the critics of US...'they' will probably critique you but if you my darling TP get other brilliant minds in that room with youuuuu, lawdy, watch out big screen!!! I agree with you. I don't care for the Madea movies, though the Madea Witness Protection was the most recent decent Madea movie.

I have to disagree with you on one aspect. My grandmother was a real life Madea before this character came along. She was known to hem people up in a heartbeat all across our city, be in church and have to move the gun in her purse to hand you a piece of candy. But she also opened her home to those needing rest, food a ride, clothes. She was a difficult person to put in a box.

Thank you for addressing this. I’ve been wondering for the longest, what’s up with the bad wigs for the guys. I thought maybe he wanted them to look different from real life, but yes the wigs are distracting. I couldn’t get into the last movie falling from grace because of it. I don’t make movies, so somebody please explain the hair thing to me. I needed the 😂.

Tyler Perry is overrated. Madea movies are like Ernest movies. Same lame ass characters. Shit just ain’t funny. It’s just over done. I’m glad it’s a black female seeing the same thing I’ve been saying since day one. His movies are limited.
@dai5angel3 жыл бұрын
I liked his old stuff because it made sense. The content was better. If he gives other writers a chance to write for him his work can still be great. I believe when he writes for his own shows and movies, people see that he is overwhelmed with costumes and other things on set. We all can see his work lacking quality content. Watching anything Tyler Perry isn't worth my time anymore

Tyler did NOT direct the first movie Diary of a Mad Black Woman. This is why it comes across better than his other films. Tyler recently went back and tried to fix A Fall From Grace on Netflix. He actually re-edited it and Netflix replaced the old version with the remix. It still doesn't help. Tyler's problem is RUSH, RUSH, RUSH. He brags about making these movies fast. A Fall From Grace was made in four days... and it shows.
@curtisthomas26703 жыл бұрын
I remember he said he could make an entire season of one of his tv shows in a couple weeks
@starbrand37263 жыл бұрын
@@curtisthomas2670 Exactly. He's a good business man, and I admire him for having his own studio, but he's producing garbage. A prime example is Madea Boo 2. That movie cost $25 million to make, but when you watch it, none of that money is on the screen. It looks cheap. Tyler pocketed $20 million and used the other $5 million to makes the movie (if that much) and the fact that it's a terrible movie makes it even worse.

If he’s trying to put black people on the map, he needs to understand that not everyone is an actor! There are great black writers out there as well that can make his movies and shows MUCH MUCH better!

Temptation was a good movie but that ending needed to be rewritten. Why did every character stay the same but Jurnee Smollett was switched out with Candace Coke...Bryce aged with grey hair but Melinda (Brandy) didn’t age at all....even still till this day i cannot figure out why that was done
@verballynonverbal Жыл бұрын
If Jurnee was the marriage counselor, it would have given away the ending. I think that's why it was done like that. Brandy should've aged though.

Tyler Perry’s work is like Doritos. It fulfills an immediate hunger (to see Black folks on screen), but it’s not the healthiest or most engaging thing you could consume. But it has its place. If you want that full rich steak meal film experience, you should look at someone else’s output.
@AJWoods323 жыл бұрын
I agree with your list of his better films accept for “Why did I Get Married Too?” and “For Colored Girls”. WDGM2 was trash and so overwrought that I wondered if I was even watching the same cast as the first movie! Granted Angela and Marcus will always be well, Angela and Marcus. But Janet Jackson’s character and her relationship with her husband was so overly dramatized beyond measure it was ridiculously bad and depressing.

Good review, Mr. Perry needs another film editor, because there are too many goofs in his movies. Also, 90% percent of the time, the damsel in distress never is rescued by the charming hero. The lady either remains heartbroken or she hooks up with another creepy man.

One of his plays I think madeas goes to jail… the way he (madea) told that lady as she was coming downstairs that she didn’t like her… the dark skinned wife that was cheating w the friend… that was Tyler talking not madea. Look at his face as he walks up on her. This lady played on the TLC Bio movie as TBozs mom.
