I guess to each its own. When I was a teen, I remember watching youtubers like Wah Banana or Jian Hao Tan’s videos. But as an adult now, I am only watching channels like TheSmartLocal, Millenials of Singapore, Georgia Caney and more! It’s personal preferences. And yes i’m guessing JianHao Tan’s videos appeal more to the younger generations, who watches KZbin more often. Hence, it appears on our timeline/feed. Spread love instead of hate, Singaporeans! ❤️

I agree and respect the way you voiced your opinions sushi. He's not attacking JianHao as a person, which definitely comes first before his persona behind "content creator". To those that think he's bringing other KZbinrs down, you're clearly not listening to the message here. He's mentioned that the videos are not to his taste, but if it works for him then great. It's the same as going to the theatre to watch movies, would you watch every single movie genre out there? My personal opinion: Although JianHao has many other channels that are gaming and beauty related, he started out and gained his fame through "10 types of..." and has stuck with it till now, making older audiences who were teens in 2011 (now adults) feel that it's repetitive and boring. I wouldn't blame him for continuing that kind of content if it appeals to the current generation as that's his rice bowl. But sadly we have just outgrown his videos and find them cringy. Another thing to point out is, although he has many other channels for gaming, beauty, family related stuff there are are many other KZbinrs who do the same content (e.g. Mongabong, click network, and even international gaming channels like offline tv) and thus it's not what defines him as a content creator. Probably the only thing that stands out is class t1t5 a.k.a class tits. But it's distasteful to me as it gives the wrong ideas to children (i believe this is majority of his viewers based on photos from fan meets) Comparing to NOC who has also started gaining their fame through listicle videos, they quickly added in travel vlogs, daily vlogs, cooking and Food King which are content that not other KZbinrs put out and this is why i believe NOC has the edge compared to Jian Hao. This is just my personal opinion and i don't hate them, but like sushi, if i were to see a listicle video I'd never click on them too. I'd much rather watch something funny, relatable and unpredictable like watching people react to cringy tiktok videos, than seeing how many types of quarentine people are out there because we alr know the different kinds just by watching the news and talking to our quarentined friends. The big three started out doing relatable listables, but they adapted their channels in completely separate ways. NOC experimented with international type videos with Food King and all the lifestyle stuff; obviously its similar to something the Try Guys would do. WahBanana said, fuck it, we'll double down on the Singapore theme so only Singaporeans will understand, while their second channel became discount JKParty. And JianHao just continued doing the same thing but made different channels for different content.

i vividly remember when i used to watch JainHao Tan’s videos in 2016, and that was specifically in summer 2016 when i was 10 and i enjoyed his videos and said “wow, Singaporean schools are so cool!” thinking schools were that wonderland in Asia lmao. i have since then stopped watching his videos, and i recently checked on his channel and i was quite surprised to see his channel racks in 3.5M views average to this day, considering the kind of content he’s doing.

I agree with you. I feel the biggest problem with Singaporean KZbinrs is that the popular ones flex their ego and pride way too much in their content. As a Singaporean, I watch KZbin to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, and hearing annoying Singlish and videos about the daily lives of Singaporeans just kinda annoys me and bore me. I'm not saying I have zero pride in being Singaporean, but I just don't like when we flex this on KZbin, as it may make others see Singaporeans as unusually egotistic and obnoxious. KZbinrs like JianHao Tan and NOC for example make repetitive content, which was never funny to me. The jokes of their videos seem to only aim at the younger demographic, so it doesn't hit as hard as older viewers, limiting their overall audience and causing general mixed feelings. That's why I like channels like Butterworks, local channels who don't flex their pride online, and provide meaningful, relatable, creative, and different content. Content that requires effort. They aren't stuck in a phase, so they prevent repetition of content. They incorporate a Simpson style comedy into their videos. They talk about current topics like COVID affecting different people, from a kid to a hairstylist who is stuck in Singapore. It's such a shame that such channels that post good content end up being forgotten and channels which post content with cheap laughs and cheap material end up with more popularity. We need more KZbinrs in Singapore to be a lot better than current ones.

This. Hearing Singlish online makes me cringe and youtubers that focuses on this Singlish aspect for their youtube content makes it one of the cringest thing on the platform. No offense but it just sounds bad overall. I really can't appreciate or understand the appeal of JianHao Tan. I am Canadian and i LOVE Singaporean KZbin content. Even if we are in 2020, some people love 2011 content. We shouldn't hate on them. There are millions of KZbin channels that we can watch. If you don't like someone's channel, just don't watch them. You can watch things that are 8 years old or 1, but you should not hate on them. PLEASE don't hate.

I am a young person and i enjoy Singaporean content from those three. I think the biggest reason why I like them is because they do collabs all the time. for e.g. (Jian Hao was a judge in the last episode of Knock Out!). This video shares your personal opinion and I respect it. Big props to you.

Bro it’s just because jianhao Tan is larger.It his videos it’s his ideas,Jian Hao Tan fans love his videos and you can’t say that it sucks their hard work has PAID off! They got what they got! Whoever hates their videos, you HAVe to understand his hard work and Jian Hao knows that there are young audience! If you want to hate, Go away! As a fan of several US/Canadian channels such as Linus Tech Tips or Hacksmith Industries, partly due to limited land size, rental cost of places and audience taste I'm sorta sad Singaporean and Malaysian KZbinr scenes is only *this* diverse. Having my own garage and do DIY was my childhood dream and now existence of the channel sorta quenched my curiosity on my device even though I'm not the one doing it. The only thing is, we don't have anyone doing such channels here. Yeah I'm a Tech junkie and I also only prefer Channels talking about interesting facts. (Kento Bento, ArmChair Historian, etc.) (I guess I am a boring prude who likes intellectual stimulation more than easy to digest funny skits.)
