The problems in Bagley - Drafted ahead of Trey young and Luka Doncic - Plays for the Kings - Injury Prone - Plays under Luke Walton - His dad is a wannabe LaVar - He has put almost no growth in his game or defence - He has put in more effort into his Rap career more than his NBA career

Going back at that time, I still would’ve drafted Bagley at that pick, Luka Doncic was great in Europe but how many great european players came over to the NBA to just be alright or scrubs? I won’t lie, I was one of many who said Luka wouldn’t do anything in the league and I was wrong. In Trae Young’s case, his time at Oklahoma was similar to Jimmer Fredette’s College career, if you look at Jimmer’s college years he literally was Trae Young before Trae Young but once he got to the league he was playing like he should’ve been the 60th pick of the 2011 draft instead of Isaiah Thomas but even now, Trae Young is unfortunately putting up empty stats as he still hasn’t made the playoffs, maybe that’ll change this season though.

His father was the problem from the day one. It is amazing how nobody in USA is talking about the fact which everyone in Europe knew about. Luka Dončić was interested to play for Mavs and Mark Cuban only. He knew that was the only team where he would get a chance to play full minutes from day one, to get space for himself to prove that he is what he is. Luka's father knows Vlade Divac very well. He has used that to inform Vlade trough unofficial channels that his son WILL NOT PLAY FOR THE KINGS EVEN IF THEY DRAFT HIM! He will stay in Europe in that case. Don't get me wrong: you probably do not know the difference between drafting european pro player from US draft player. The European player even when he is drafted, can stay for a couple years in Europe ("development", etc). It is not similar to the Zion - Pelicans story. Zion was thinking about staying back in college for one more year to avoid playing for Pelicans. But everyone in US knows that would be the end of Zion hype. He would be crucified. So Zion had to go to Pelicans. Luka had luxury not to be in that position. He could stay in European Champion for year or two, be a star, good money and wait for Kings to give up and trade him to another team. And yes: Vlade Divac knew all about that on time. Nor he or Luka could go on air with that, because it would be the end of theirs professional lives, but it is known for fact in Europe. Vlade than has done only thing he could do. Bagley's father used his connections and made pressure on Kings office through the King's owner (oh, yeah). He could use big man to cover up his choices of Greek busts from prior years, and to cover his a** up by saying they do not need Luka, they have Fox. AND THAT IS THE WHOLE STORY. Bagley could prove himself, but in the rookie year Fox was too selfish to work with him. Combine Buddy Hild's ego with that and there was no room for Bagley. Then injuries had come and all went down. Some are saying that his dad is guilty for some of that because of demanding minutes for his son even if he is not fully recovered. But that is something I won't talk about, not enough knowledge about that. At the end: It is not fair to talk about him as pick drafted over Luka. Vlade basically did not have a choice. And Luka wouldn't be so "Magic" in some other team (Pelicans, Hornets and of course - Kings). He knew what he needs and he got it. Now he is a Superstar in making. Bagley wasn't so lucky. But he has a second chance now. And his sick father will ruin it. Shame...

If we had a coach who had a clue - Marvin would be getting a lot Stewart's minutes - but, unfortunately, we don't have a coach who has a clue. That's how you lose 25 games in a row.

I really liked Marvin bagley III's game. He is just 24 years old right now. The issue with with his NBA career is that: - Drafted just before Luka but Luka had a way more better career than he does. It's similar to Sam Bowie with MJ. -Similar to Wiseman's situation, Bagley has a great agility of a guard for a 6'10 but his shot consistency is really bad. He is a good defender but he often does not show active hands on the defense when guarding small players. -Traded from a team who he was drafted that is contending to the playoffs 2 seasons ago to a team that is rebuilding with the pistons. He is playing decently well recently with the pistons but he needs to improve more of his consistancy with his scoring stats. -Before being traded to the pistons, Divac attempted to run Bagley as a small forward. Overall Bagley is a good player he may not have a great career but if he can have his second chance being used well in a rebuilding team with the pistons. He will be 25 near the end of this upcoming regular season. So he is still has alot of time to improve his weaknesses.

Why do people think the Kings should have drafted Luka in hindsight? I know Luka can play the 2 or 3 but he has been more of a PG who isn't a great off-ball player which means he is going to have a high usage rating and the Kings had Fox from the previous draft so it wouldn't make sense. If anything, they should have drafted Jaren Jackson Jr he is a much better player rn and he is pretty much a player that suits the modern NBA. He can space the floor, he is tall lengthy and athletic so he can guard players 1-5 and can play PF or C and he can put the ball on the floor. Fox would have a great big man to play with that is young so they can grow together similar to what Ja Morant is with him when healthy

Doncic was the most accomplished player in the draft ever. He was the best player in the world outside of NBA at the age of 19. You can't miss on someone like that. Marvin is the same player today as he was his rookie year, despite being given all the time he needs to rehab from his multiple injuries. Most players work hard through their rehab and come back better than before, hungrier. Not Marvin. For his last (fourth?) major injury with the Kings, he was granted personal leave to go home and rehab, not traveling or being with the team in the middle of the season. Marvin will always be a "what-if" player because he can not demonstrate that he can grow as a player.

He’s been pretty consistent tbh up until this season…I mean look at Julius Randle everyone wrote him off Nd as soon as he got the keys it was up from there. Plus bro is only 22 which is crazy that they’d give up oh him in only 2/3 seasons. My opinion is Kings seen what they missed out on other players in the draft and never really gave him dat chance.

Bagley is in those situations where the talent is there but the body can't handle it. It's like Greg Oden or Jabari Parker or Markelle Fultz type of problem. Although he is still young and can prevent himself becoming a role player instead. Personally, I think playing Center rather than forward suits him too

Luka and even Trae are generational talent. In a good way they might have seen Marvin as a project, but was the best option to chose for Sacramento if they wanted to continue with Fox and have two prospects to the future. Drafting Luka would be a wiser choice to Sacramento, but they would ended up trading Fox because he wouldn't be a good fit alongside Luka, just like the case of Dennis Smith Jr and Luka in Dallas. They could give him the time to Bagley to develope, but they know they blew up a chance one in a lifetime.

I rarely see it mentioned but the main problem besides injury with Bagley is is his standing reach. He doesn't have a good wingspan or highest shoulders. The result is an 8'10 standing reach which is about the same as Lebron James and Jayson Tatum, and just an inch over 6'6 Kobe Bryant. Compare that to a similar player James Wiseman with a 9'6 standing reach. He could overcome his reach with things like shooting and elite passing. He's a decent shooter but a poor passer. Poor length players are always suspect with few exceptions like Blake Griffin and Jimmy Butler

We all ask "What if the Kings drafted Doncic?", but we should ask "What if the Kings traded the pick?" The Suns, Mavs, Clippers, 76ers, and Hornets all tried to trade for that pick (to draft Luka, most likely). The Kings also considered trading the 2nd pick in a deal for Kawhi. The NBA could look very different.
