Such knowledge and well-practiced, efficient skill is on display here, and I realize it takes much experience to become so fast at every step while retaining consistency and accuracy. I cut leather far more meticulously (slowly) and yet LESS accurately, and sewing machines are still an unwieldy and uncontrollable mystery to me. Fine Italian leather is expensive, but so is time. The investment in all the right tools to have them at hand when needed is also substantial. And it all begins with wonderful, well-thought out patterns. Thanks so much for this video and for its teaching value!

Never cared how this was done yet it was suggested to me. I watched the whole thing. Wow. Now I want to learn to sew. I’m guessing not many men sew so it might be weird?

Start with fabric. Cheaper and there are no take backs with leather. Few opportunities for mistakes.

It's not a toxic trait. I think you should try it. Of course you will fail the first few times, but even a baby stumbles while learning to walk.

I have a leather jacket that has Made in Italy tag on it and I noticed the leather in this video has the imprint Made in Italy, so now I am kinda wary if my jacket is actually made in Italy or elsewhere 😢
@gianlucalavilla3763 Жыл бұрын
Think back to gucci controversy; they would outsource the production and stick a made in Italy tag since adding that tag “counts” as a part of production. People just want to see made in italy/france/England

The leather is made in italy the jacket is made elsewhere

And actually, the leather was most likely only finished in Italy. There is really good documentary on the tannery industry in Italy@@breh9320
@worldaviation4k8 ай бұрын
I went to a leather exhibition for free in HK, jackets costing 65 euros to buy. Most of the stalls were Pakistan and India with 1% being France, very nice aniline that the tannery gets from Spain. 7.5 euros per sq foot someone said you need 50 sq foot for a jacket. I want to make my own one day 😊

@@worldaviation4kIndian analine sheep (nappa) and goat skins are a great place to start. Just make sure to get full grain as the sheepskin tends to be sanded down. They're coarse wool sheep as they produce carpet wool and are also slaughtered for milk so it's not as smooth as merino but these are technically lambskins (nobody slaughters mature sheep for meat) so they're smoother than you think. Lambskin is a term with huge variation as it can mean the skin of a lamb under 3 months or under 6 months of age. In India, they're usually slaughtered at the 5-6 month mark. No good for gloves, outstanding for jackets.
