Only for this particular variety of banana, which itself is probably modified scientifically to change the skin outside the fruit. This peculiarity is its distinctive selling point. Japanese, like every one else, usually peel the skin (of imported banana) off first before eating the fruit.

I guess I'm not seeing how these bananas are produced any differently to make these skins edible where other skins are not. So we got a banana growing/packaging process, but no real insight into the process of "making ones that can be eaten with the skin". First time I've really been disappointed with a video from this channel.

obviously it's a different breed, and the entire process is far, far more "artisan" than the way bananas usually grow. you clearly have never seen how an ordinary banana is grown.

In my country, there is a type of banana that is quite popular, the small size can be eaten in one bite, this banana has a very thin skin and tends to be difficult to peel, although it is not common for people to eat it with the skin, sometimes people eat it with a small part of the skin that is difficult to peel and I am sure this banana can be eaten with the skin if we are used to doing it.

I would love to try one, but I have to say I find the needless use of plastic packaging pretty disgusting. Japan, for all of its technological advances, still grossly abuses their use, especially in the food sector. There is no real benefit to individually wrapping single pieces of fruit, it's purely an aesthetic choice with grave consequences for the environment.
@onieyoh9478Ай бұрын

@Muonium129 күн бұрын
I'm not going to defend their infamously ridiculous excessive packaging as a society, but they also have one of the highest recycling rates of any country in the world and are obsessive about sorting all their recyclable trash. Even if this only means it ends up in an incinerator facility to burn for electrical power generation, because so few plastics are actually recyclable anyway, I'm fine with that and would definitely not classify it as a 'grave' consequence to the environment. Incineration of combustible trash is far better than burial in landfill, and the GHG emissions are completely trivial in comparison to other dominant power generation methods like coal and gas, which comprise their main energy sector sources. They also are famously punctilious about litter, and so exceptionally low levels of their plastic trash ever end up in the ocean or other waterways, unlike the horrific quantities which do so coming from filthy countries like India and the Philippines. If any country is going to absurdly overdo something like plastic packaging, Japan is the probably the best place to have it happen.

Japan has one of the best recycling systems for every day products in the world! Importing practically 100% of its petroleum (oil, LNG) before in-country refinery & processing, Japan knows the values of recyclable materials, especially plastics. There are videos of Japanese households meticulously sorting their trash, companies collecting and sorting different types of trash, and factories where recyclable materials are recycled. It seems that your mind is chained by being uninformed!
@TheUnchainedMind27 күн бұрын
@@qtdcanada The vast majority of "recycling" in Japan is "thermal recycling", meaning it just gets burnt up for energy. And that's from a global leader on recycling. Try as you might, plastic remains a dirty product that should be avoided where necessary. I appreciate the ad hominem, by the way.

😮😮😮😮😮 I thought it would be expensive and I was correct. Lol. I guessed ¥1000 but the website says close to ¥900 each. OMG. we pay $0.63 each banana where i live and sometimes cheaper depending on where you go buy them. Unfortunately, the bananas in the usa, are not organic even when it says organic. The cheaper the food, the more chemicals in them. These Kami bananas are DEFINITELY organic from start to end. I bet they have 2x's the vitamins and flavor. If I could afford them, I would import 1case a month. Heck, if I could afford it, I would move to a healthier country.
leave it to japan to make everything as I guess expensive as possible. I don't like the fact that each one is gift wrapped in more plastic, its like, we won't toss the skin into the trash, but we added a new layer of material? I won't ever get it. Now if they can make a disease resistant version that doesn't need to be in its own gift box. That's where the money is. Because cavendish may be out soon too.

@@something9048 Things aren't as rosy as you might think. Globally, the vast majority of plastics are not recycled. In Japan, although they claim a very high rate of recycling, the most common method of doing so is "thermal recycling", which just means burning the plastic to generate energy. This process produces greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to air pollution and global warming. As far as reusing plastic, only a small amount of plastic waste is reused to make new plastic products.
