Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development- when teaching children and therefore ourselves, like exercise, if the weights are too easy to lift they don’t benefit us, if they are too heavy to lift, they don’t benefit us but if they are just that bit heavier that we can normally lift, then that’s when we gain muscle. They same for learning. When I observe children learning they must struggle just a little bit in order for new brain pathways to form- then they learn. It’s the same for us. Comfort actually harms us

@@RJVEK DUDE THANK YOU. Honestly, when I learned about this in my first year of my degree it blew my mind, but since then I’d forgotten about it. If I would’ve seen this comment before the video I definitely would’ve gone back and added that nugget of wisdom into the vid. I’ll find a way to add it to a future one ;) thanks mate!

@@NewelOfKnowledge you are a very good KZbinr. If you ever want to do a collab around education and how children learn then reach out- Bruner’s Spiral Curriculum is also interesting- children/ therefore also us as we are essentially no different, need to constantly re visit concepts- you sew the seed of learning and then you leave it but you revisit it again- you revisit prior learning but the trick is to then take that learning slightly deeper, then repeat and repeat. Humans can grasp things when they re learn and over learn concepts- we are no different. Imagine a scenario when we messed up perhaps in a difficult conversation with someone, we learn and then the next time we use those skills but add on to them thus becoming more proficient. I think humans expect miracles in self development but it’s really down to a good positive mindset and a determination to succeed!

The Moustache sage strikes again! Thanks for another important video Lewis, you've already helped me come a long way. The manner in which you conduct the talking is very special, deep and wise, but still, humble and loving, you're killing It! I Hope one day we might partake in an actual conversation, cheers from Brazil!

Would be interested on your take on Eckhart Tolle who wrote the Power of Now. “Becoming is better than being” is the antithesis of what his teachings are as he focuses on being rooted in the present moment. Having a huge group of friends, having lots of money and becoming “more”, having “more” is just going to put you in a state of need and want. “When I have a big group of friends, then I will be happy” “When I have this, then I will be happy” “When this happens in the future, then I will be happy”

@@GeraldJacobsKZbin as for this religious extremist nonsense…. Shouting “PLEASE FOLLOW MY GEOGRAPHICALLY DEALT RELIGIOUS INVISIBLE FRIEND” working for you, is it? Is it, really? 🤔 1 like in a fortnight and I would bet money it’s your own. 🫡 Troll me again. Although at least you weren’t just trolling a total stranger here.. how did that go for you? “I will follow you… “ 😘😉🫡🤡
