There is no place for marriage dowry in any form in our society! All laws must be gender neutral. The present form of 498a violates the cardinal principle of judicial justice system i.e. "unless proved guilty, an accused presumed to be innocent". In-case court finds false reporting in 498a, there should be provision for prosecution against the complainent/ plaintiff by state.

I don't think that Suneita Ojha is efficient and knowledgeable lawyer. Then we have to show her data about suicides of men due to family issues and misuse of 498As happening in India. She is a BIASED feminist who does not know about the hierarchy of family and came here to create propaganda of feminism. There were may be 15-20 studies to prove the vague condition of 498A cases (and 41 more cases in favor of women) to discriminate Males. Here if people start to argue with me let me tell them that "DOWRY" is not obsolete but for many cases the boys are FORCEFULLY GIVEN GIFTS from the in- laws and actually that is claimed as "Dowry" by those scoundrels afterwards when they think that their daughter could have got better boy than him. There are many cases like this that is evident these days..

I would prefer staying unmarried (adopt a child) or single (adopt a child) all my life or being in a live-in relation (adopt a child), we step in a relation to give&take care and love resulting into a progressive and happy phase of life after job or work established. The above three are much better choices than living with a female who has no intention of giving respect love care and not even justice in her own conscious. Just make a provision that makes it compulsory for judges to write it is false case instead of writing prosecution could not prove and also allow severe punishment to persons responsible for false complaint. If woman wants exit in case where there is no harassment with her , but she has some other ulterior motives, then the misuse and punishment clause must be there.

In Indian culture there is no dowry....dowry is meaningless word....do you have brain to say dowry....if marriage is happened ,the two people have separate family...a new family requires some basic needs to survive their life...some money or property give to that new couple from father side of girl and father side of boy as well...boy father also give his property to his son during marriage for survive his life as he is separated family....this is our culture ...how can you say this as dowry ...words not gives food to new married couple.....wife also used boy's side property.....wife got illness who will take care her...courts?government?..no one will take care...only husband ...
