Pumpkin soup is wonderful, mixing in apple and sage was genius. Using the pumpkin itself for the plating was a great call too. He kept it simple, but knew how to empathize the wonderful flavors of the ingredients, making the end result elegant and delicious.

the reason why jennifer looked so put off on marys turn was because she also did gnocchi but she put potato in, she went up before mary and got criticised that it tasted more of potato than pumpkin

April Lee was always playing it safe, she didn't even deserve to be in masterchef, but Mary appreciated what Veronica did, everyone should have, because Veronica was a really good person to give everyone an advantage, because no one does that or did that

Mary rly deserved the title. She was an amazing leader in the team challenge and was a giver in the kitchen. In the semi finals. I think what Veronica did was respectful, I rly don’t think it was smart. But I agree abt what u said abt April lee. She just scraped the top of bare minimum. Never rly took risks or stepped out her comfort zones like Mary did.

I watched this clip two days ago with zero interest in Master Chef Canada but now I'm hooked! Don't get me wrong, the drama in Master Chef US brings it's own entertainment but it's nice to watch the format with a focus on the cooking and knowing contestants can "play the game" without being awful human beings. I also adore the Canadian judges!

A lot of canned pumpkin, at least in the US, isn’t actually what we think of as pumpkin. It’s Dickinson squash, so, related to the orange pumpkins we associate with pumpkin pie, but more like a butternut squash than anything. Butternut squash pie. Not as yummy sounding! I wonder what they had in those cans on the show.

Canned pumpkin puree in Canada is thankfully pumpkin! It has some added ingredients to preserve it and stuff but real pumpkin so i assume on the show they use that aswell

I make curry from canned pumpkin (and canned yams). Not being fond of sweet dessert dishes, I prefer a slightly sweet, Thai inspired coconut curry, with chickpeas, vegetables, a few diced potatoes, a dollop of crunchy peanut butter, a bit if heat, and a splash of ACV...sweetened to taste. Served over Basmati rice it is delicious, nutritious, satisfying, and inexpensive. Also, roasted pepitas ground into a garlicky, lemon pepita hummus is a perfect topping if we are out of yogurt. I think pumpkin rind chips from fresh pumpkins might be a thing...Imma gonna try that!
