@@Tepnox So I have a unique situation where my good pc is lent out and I'm on my secondary scrap pc which cant run vr. Having the quest 3s would be a good little toy till I build up a new pc or get my old pc back. I mostly just play pavlov in the quest units anyway. the battery life being short doesnt matter when you work 10-12 hrs a day and only have 30 minutes to boot up a game. In short, I think that this still has general market appeal even for standard consumers as a quick boot device for those limited on time

People look at the quest reddit, like 90% of the comments are from original Quest 3 owners that are trying to bash Quest 3S release because of the lenses and ofc they paid 200$ more for the original Quest 3 at 500$ (released price). Well, buy the original Quest 3 then if you want the very best visuals, you don´t need to bash the Q3S because it have freshnel lenses and it costs 200$ less, because there is people that are willing to sacrifice a bit of visuals to have everything else the original Q3 have for 200$ less. 🤷

I kinda bash the Q3s because I don't think it's going to be the best VR experience for newbies. I think Meta would have been better off just revising the current Q3 lineup to include a Q3/128GB for $399, Q3/256GB for $499, and Q3/512Gb for $599. In any case, it is what it is and I hope the 3S is successful.

I don't think Quest 2S is a good name because the main reason to upgrade is that it is part of the Quest 3 family. It can play Quest 3 exclusives and has the same chipset.

the 3s is probably a must buy for me if its received well. the only problems for most seem to be the lack of a headphone jack and the ipd adjustment. the headphone jack thing doesnt bother me in the slightest. i have bluetooth headphones anyways and i dont plan on using it standalone much either. the ipd adjustment kind of sucks, but i use glasses in vr anyways, so i dont exactly have a good "sweet spot" to begin with. im a quest 1 user right now, and i find it incredibly difficult to see most things because of the low resolution, low FOV, low brightness (despite being OLED), and it doesnt even turn on half the time anymore.

I'm going to wait for it to come out in Brazil (where I live) to buy one, seriously, I think Meta has gone crazy, $299 for a Quest and it has the same power as the Quest 3, just cheaper, to give you an idea, Here where I live, the Meta Quest 2 was 2500BRL and these new glasses are around 1500BRL, it's very cheap, it's cheaper than an Xbox Series S.

Seems like a valid budget option, given that it'll be able to keep up with the 3 software-wise so it won't really get obsoleted before they both do. Will also encourage developers to utilize the 3's capabilities more. (I suppose that's a negative for Quest 2 owners insofar as more titles might drop support for it in the future.)

Just a thought; as the Q3S has the same resolution as the Q2, but the Q3's faster SoC, does that mean the Q3S will technically be Meta's fastest headset?!? Secondary point; if the Q3S' SoC is somewhat down clocked from the Q3, can we expect the headset to also have the best battery life out of all of Meta's headsets? I still think the Q3S is a step backwards though, and of absolutely no interest to PCVR users.

A bit of both, potentially it could be faster, but it also has a smaller battery, so the result is same speed and same battery life ( they actually declare 30 minutes more, something I will have to try)

Well I went for the best Quality and features at the time, so I bought the Quest 3 shortly after it came out. It did have its issues at first but with several updates, majority of the issues were resolved. I do have V69 update and trying some of the new features to see how they work. I do SIM racing games and the Pancake lenses work very well for these games. Further down the road, I am jumping ahead and would like to see what the Quest 4 brings to the table far as specifications, lenses, and pricings. These may come in 2026. For people just getting into VR, the Quest 3S maybe something to look at with cheaper price point. Thanks for your video. Take care.

If you have bluetooth headphones with a low latency mode, then you don't need the headphone jack. My Audio-Technica M50xBT2 headphones work perfectly with my Quest Pro, even with Beat Saber.

I think "discontinuing" was a bit of an ambiguous term. I think it just means "stop producing". There are are still waaaay too many Quest 2 users for them not to be supported anymore. On the other hand, new games may not be compatible with Quest 2 if they require the more powerful chipset

But as for the other thing there are already specific upcoming titles that will require the 3 series, some due to Mixed Reality support but some just for the added oomph (say, Batman). I would expect new 2-compatible titles to continue coming out for now, but the 2 users will be having a harder time getting access to the biggest games as time goes on.

The largest thing here is the new chip which is 2 times more powerful. Additionally we have stuff like RGB passthrough. This is miles better than quest 2. Pretty decent for the price I'd say.

I feel like the S model is such a pointless product personally. I would rather they have the Quest 3 and try to reduce the price constantly and make it ever better at that price, as well as some truly high end Quest Pro that's really expensive but just proves exactly what VR is capable of. Just two models with two very clear markets and done. This just feels like a totally pointless step back imo. And for what, because it's not like $300 is actually mainstream at all as far as I'm concerned.

Quest 2 was the most affordable option, now its being replace with the 3S as the most affordable option. There need to be an affordable option because not everyone can afford the original Q3 with 500$. So Q3S makes perfect sense as it aproaches and help bringing more people to VR rather than the original Quest 3 that has a price point unreacheable for most people and by so people would see VR as expensive and not worth it.

So, personally, I think they should have just stuck with the Quest 3 and tried to constantly bring that price down, and then had the really expensive highest end model that does everything you would dream a VR headset would do. And then it's just two models and no confusion at all for consumers. And you just pick either the relatively more affordable one or the cutting edge one that costs much more. I mean, if the Quest 3S had been say $199 or less, I might have a different view of things and be okay with three skus at that point--but it's not.

What a huge disappointment. In all but name, the Q3S is a Quest2.5, being sold at the Quest2's 2021 price point. Either buy a 2nd hand Quest 2 for ~€$£100, or stretch for a new Quest 3. I suppose I should be grateful it's crap; my Quest 2 might retain its value for a little longer!

Anyone looking to buy the Quest 3s 256 model at $400 is better of buying the Quest 3 512 model for $500. That extra $100 gets you get double storage pancake lesnses better display a headphone jack, better design and better field of view. Also no IPD wheel on the 3s just off the top of my head. I bought the Quest 3 a little over 6 months ago to replace my Quest 2. I love it. Unless money is an issue or you're buying for your kid (in which case i would definitely go with the $299 3s) then you should but the Quest 3. It's just the better product overall. My next headset will probably be the Quest 5. Only reason i upgraded is for the Color Passthrough. But all the other little details made a difference
