in NT manuscripts at least the Greek ones they give approximate dates of the greek papyrus manuscripts based on the style of script .(Papyrologists are the experts in this). Is that not possible with arabic script?

After watching the series, thanks Allah. Only one version, efforts by Uthman to standardize the Quran into final version. The panelist keep on saying there are variances/differences in Sana Manuscript and modern, at glance yes there are difference as it is well known due to difference writing style; no surprise for me and i believe to others.. most importantly the meaning has NO different. Before agree with panelist, you must look, learn to understand into methodology taken by early scholar on efforts standardizing the Quran. Pre Uthmanic era, there are many variations, due to very rapid spreading of islam to difference geographical area + different language / dialect, these has noted by Uthmanic and put big efforts with other scholars to meet n verify them. Again, thanks to Uthmanic team for unites them all, and make them standardize. Dont fall into panelist who always play emotion but lack on understanding the basis.

There are major differences in meaning. The Uthman Quran had man made additions to verses changing meaning drastically. Uthmans version is about controlling his people. Very similar to Constantine and the Christian Bible. The Quran u use today is not original fact.

Manny, if there were no apostasy laws, there would be no Islam left. When the force of the law is so convincing (believe it, or die), many realize that leaving Islam is not a very useful thing to do. One would rather believe something that is obviously false, and save their lives, than abandon such thing, and end up dead. I can understand that behavior. I have seen the hypocrisy as well. Rich Saudi's going to Dubai or Bahrain, for alcohol and Russian hookers. Typical human behavior, just like in many other places.

Manny, it's weird indeed. Muslims say that the Torah came from Allah, and I have seen many Muslims quote the same Torah and make it sound harsh. It is actually quite harsh. But there is no argument in: Mohammed preached it, but Jews and Christians do it too! A sound argument is about the practice and teaching of Jesus, and those of Mohammed. Christians as such don't use these Mosaic laws. Perhaps a Muslim would call it abrogation. As a matter of fact, even the prophets condensed the Law to only three. Moses gave his people 630 laws, David reduced them to 15, Isaiah reduced them to 11 and Micah reduced them to three - do justice, love mercy and walk humbly before your God. Mohammed on the flipside did not only teach killing of disbelievers, but he practiced it wholeheartedly. And none of these teachings have been abrogated. The next remark is usually about the Torah being corrupted. Mohammed never said that; he said the opposite. But, for the sake of a real argument, what if the Torah is corrupted? Then it is showing that Allah (who Muslims claim wrote it) is a weak god. And then the next level is using the, in Muslims view, corrupted Bible to prove an Islamic point of view. And I have never seen a complete gospel that does fit the Islamic story. Even the apocrypha have Jesus as the Son of God. The worst level is dumping a bunch of texts, and then think you have convinced someone. I am convinced of something, but it is probably not what the 'dumper' had in mind. It is precisely this kind of lack of logic that makes it so hard to get anywhere. If you can't see your own fallacies, how do you think you can point out others?

15:25 The comment of Dr. Jay Smith does not fit the text on the slide. "they did jihad in the name of Allah" is also in the Sanaa Palimpsest. The Cairo 1924 text omits "with their money and themselves", but does not replace it by another text. Please be always exact!

There is so much detail recorded in history books about Muhammad a.s. from early childhood to death, from so many different sources around the world. Many historians, many rulers, Kings, philosophers, theologists wrote about him. His life was so detailed to the point where it is recorded, what he ate, when he ate or drank, how he talked how he walked, how many gray hairs in his head or beard he had at what stage of his life. We know much less about Albert Einsteins life who lived so recently than we know about Muhammad a.s. You can say you don't believe in Islam or that he is a prophet, thats fine by me you can believe whatever you want but to say that he probably didn't existed is outright insane!

You see, Jesus is the only God in human history to have the infinite attributes of merit, humility, and love. No other God in any religion has ever made this claim because an act of merit requires effort, and everything is easy for God. However, God humbling himself into a human body shows infinite humility and God dying on a cross to save human kind is an act of infinite Merit and Love. Jesus having extra infinite attributes makes Him greater than any other God. Mohammed realized this or was pointed out this fact by a Christian and lied to his followers to keep them obedient to him. Jay Smith is NOT an early Islam scholar, but a self-appointed Christian apologist and polemicist. Jay Smith's word, therefore, does not make a binding on the scholars of Islamic origins by any academic standards. His knowledge of the field is cursory and occasional divided in blocks, as you can also infer from his assertions such as "what I have been told" etc. He can, therefore, only beguile naive minds that are not pitched in a sound understanding of early formation of Islam. Moreover, the reference to the discovery of the Sana'a Manuscripts is also placed in an incorrect date. The discovery was made in 1972 rather than 1975. That is sufficient to expose the banality of his scholarship. Critical-historical scholarship of early Islam does not overrate the absence of vowelization and dotting from the Qur'anic text as a determining factor to breaking the code of the Qur'an's enigmatic writing. They are aware of the fact that the oral preservation of the Qur'an in a culture of orality is a real historical phenomenon, which would discredit such an argument as spurious. Their emphasis, instead, has been contextually oriented, which puts more weight upon the study and analyses of stylistics, themes, liturgies, historical allusions, and literary features of the Qur'an.

Dr. Asma Hilali really doesn't say that the upper script and lower scrip are in the stage of evolution of Qur'an, rather she says that this manuscript is written by a student and he made mistakes and tried to correct his mistakes or some times left it like that. That was not a permanent or standard copy but this was a student's copy.

No one is jealous . You refuse to look at historical facts of how the Koran came about-because , it goes against your taught Islamic narrative & agenda. I do appreciate some aspects encouraged in the Koran - like relying on God , giving him thanks & devotion to purity & prayer- which are important & I admire some dear Muslim friends/ extended family members of mine - but , I do not believe it’s history & collection of various chapters are without fault & straight from the mouth of the Angel Gabriel unto the written page- through the recitation of Mohammed. That is found to be very faulty. For me the Koran goes against many stories , truths & doctrines found in the Torah / Tanak & New Testament. That’s very problematic. We are actually warned more than once not to accept a so called prophet as , Mohammed- and it was prophesied in the Bible that falsely inspired books like the , Koran & Book of Mormon, etc will come about through fallen angels coming to various men & women & reciting to them . We are not to accept their false narratives & strange gospels. Maybe , sometime if you can be more open - you can find & sit down with a truly knowledgeable, patient Bible scholar who could go over these opposing texts & verses in the Bible with you against the case of the Koran - it would give you more perspective & hopefully you will not fear being challenged by them & open to change as , God wills - that is if you seek honest clarity & an objective point of view other than your own & can handle the challenge of criticism. I’ve lived several years with Muslim family members & I am familiar with Islamic customs & beliefs they have - and like I said I admire & hold to some of these more important similarities we do emphasis in our various faiths & we’ve had a chance to get to know one another. They have a beautiful Islamic culture in many regards but, culture is not always based on what is correct in one’s faith. I would suggest these scholars to study more comparative history of islam and look into the shia narration as well. First Quran was compiled by Hazrat Ali as and one of the copies were sent to yemen as well, where this sanaa manuscript is found. I think the more we discover about Quran compilation the more we find the ultimate truth that Haq is with Ali AS!

Eh....not altogether true. The Quran stands on it's own needing neither the Hadiths nor the sunnah. Believers follow the Word of God and sometimes use Hadith and sunnah looking for context, perspective and insights. You may be interested to know that we Muslims are also encouraged to reflect on the teachings found in the Gospels, both published and suppressed as well as the Torah and the Talmud. You may want to examine Islamic teachings as practiced in many cultures. You might get some additional perspective.

If you're really sincere, you would've taken the Islamic history as a witness. Besides, this Sanaa manuscript could be dismissed with a single possibility that you can never refute, which is ; It could belong to a 10 years old boy, who was trying to memorize the Quran using writing. Can you refute that? You can't. In fact, it gets more stronger when you examine the under text that has corrections such as "do not recite Bismillah here" and as the researchers said it is written in a different writing style, size and even hasty/unprofessional way of writing. And the fact it was found inside a mosque rather being found inside a grave for an example, indicating it was in a place of worship and learning (mosques). Supporting the assumption that it was a teacher scribbling on his student writing. ... And guess what? We still have this style of learning the Quran since the time of the Prophet until today. You can even find it on youtube from Yemen, Algeria, Morocco...etc. We call them Kuttab كُتّاب (singular) and Kattateeb كتاتيب (plural). Students are forbidden to use the Mos'haf, which is the printed Quran. And they write on wooden boards from the memory of their teacher, and they go back and fourth to their teachers to correct their writing and memorization. And after he (teacher) confirm their memorization and writing, he then tell them to wipe the ink from the board and continue writing the next part.. and so on. Same board, different writings. ... Stop fighting the religion of your creator just because it came from a different ethnic background.

I said, ‘Should I make my whole prayer for you’ He said, (This would be sufficient to relieve your distress and earn you forgiveness of your sins.)” Then he said: This is Hasan Hadith.” Comments: Not all sins are are forgiven…we can never be sure. According to Jay Smith is that he believed that there is really an ORIGINAL GOSPEL. Since he cannot find it, he assumed that the gospel of John is already that book. But his is only mere assumption. He failed to make any clear evidence to show that his assumption is correct. He has to show manuscripts in Aramaic as evidence for his assumption that the gospel of John is the already real Gospel of Pophet jESUs (pbuh). By his hasty assumption, he indubitably discarded the gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke into useless books which have no more meaning to the whole Christendom, and hence not fit to be used as the basis of the religiosity of the Christians. -04-27-23

Jesus was a Jew, so him reading from Jewish traditions is to be expected. That one of the claims that he perfectly observed the laws which qualified him to be a blameless sacrifice for the atonement of sin. While you claim the gospels and the NT are Pauline, its evident that Quranic Christology is based on other Gospels which have no historic tradition with eye witnesses or their students. Some are even known gnostic texts which are agreed to have emerged in the 3rd 4th and 5th century. At least with the Gospels and letters we have 2nd century church fathers quoting them as scripture

Christianity has same issues. There are hundreds of variant versions of Christian Bibles none match each other or the original koine Greek NT Papyrus or the Hebrew Tanakh Bible or Dead sea scrolls...

The versions you talk about are translations. The evil quran too has translations. The original Bible was called the Masoretic OT. Later came the Septuagint which has changes, mainly traced to later scribes, where sections are added such as 'they lived in the land of' became 'they and their fathers live in the land of' ... some dates were changed [of men's ages] to try to add up to what later scribes thought. General consensus is that 'additions to clarify' mean it is a later work. Some NT authors quote Sept in places showing what they had access to.

The few changes occurred between 2500-3000 years ago, and don't affect Theology, and don't compare with all the variations in the 31 arabic qurans, over 45,000 so far, and in only 1300 years as it was standardized in 1924.

@@conociendoelislam85 What I am trying to convey is this: Religeous people from any faith are of two kinds. One who grow following what they learn from their families. Second those who despite following what there family teachings investigate. Any learned person always thinks and investigates what he does and follow (if). For example, I grew up as a Muslim. But I went through the Quran and life our Prohets (pbut all) and that sealed my faith in Islam. Now there may be certain things I understand and certain things I don't. But that does not effect my faith as a Muslim because not understand many things has its reasons. For example our of 6000 verses, 1000 speak about scientific signs and not even one go against established science. Learning Islam over many years has strengthen my faith that I don't need to argue things I don't understand. But for any non believer I can In. Sha.Allah provide logical answers which I don't require anymore. This is what I mean by saying that a Muslim don't need reason or logic to test his faith. But a Muslim who is not read or a non Muslim who is not read may need reasons and logics which are mostly easy to provide.
