For how little she was in Die Another Day, she definitely made an impact haha. 9:20 Rachel was great in the movie but it's crazy how often the producers wanted to bring back Bond girls for later movies but through sheer bad luck and maybe just poor planning, they didn't bring any of them back for almost the entire franchise. After Eunice Gayson reprised her role as Sylvia Trench in From Russia With Love, no Bond girl came back for another movie until Lea Seydoux in No Time To Die. Fitting because those two women book end the film franchise. Martine Beswick and Maud Adams don't count because while they did come back, they weren't playing the same characters. How different would Die Another Day be if Wai Lin showed up for that one scene in Hong Kong? My guess is once Michelle Yeoh said no, the role was heavily whittled down. Luckily Rachel still did an excellent job. One of the biggest misses is Barbara Bach not coming back to be in A View To A Kill. We're supposed to just assume Bond and Pola have known each other for years when this was the first movie she ever appeared in. There's a ton else wrong with that movie but Bach coming back as Anya certainly wouldn't have hurt haha.

The director of DAD recently mentioned that when they contacted Michelle Yeoh about returning as Wai Lin for this sequence, she didn't find the idea of coming back for a fairly inconsequential cameo appealing. Subsequently, they did consider expanding the role but as they already had Jinx and Miranda Frost, throwing Wai Lin in as well would clutter things so they dropped the idea. The scene still being there does remind me of the Fiona Fullerton scene in 'View' which was supposedly written for Anya in 'Spy' to return and was kept after Barbara Bach said no.

This was a great interview. I think they made the right choice hiring her, and of course she loves being a Bond girl. Never knew a dress could be so expensive. Maybe you two should go with a nunchuck showdown some time? :) Anyway, here is another chapter of my story. I notice it has zero likes and zero comments on Calvins channel this week, so it seems everyone hates it. A shame, as the thrilling climax wasn't too far off. [Scene 14] Bond's cabin is being ransacked, as he hides behind the cargo crates in the hold, wondering if the man he saw was actually Herr Führer, or just an imposter. He takes a small empty barrel, and fills it with his own urine, some vinegar and horse manure, from two horses down in the hold, and secures a string into a plug at the bottom of the barrel, before hammering in the stopper. He then walks out on deck, coolly striding beside the crew and passengers with his small wooden barrel. As he turns a corner, a very wide, burley officer grabs the barrel and mutters something about Brandy. Bond reaches up to give a salute, while at the same time lighting the fuse under the barrel with his cigarette lighter. Both: "Heil Hitler!". As the man turns and walks away, Bond manages to tug a small hand gun from his belt holster. The well-fed hulk of a figure walks off with the barrel, oblivious to the fuse, and disappears below deck. Bond quickly rushes for a lifeboat, and kicks the winding gear into motion; sending the boat free-falling down into the water with a splash; muffled by the mid-Atlantic trade winds. He jumps overboard after it, and quickly pulls the rain cover over himself. Just then, the barrel explodes, sending onions, potatoes and mainly cabbages flying from a hole made in the side of the galley. "So much for room service...", he groans, as the liner reaches towards the red-growing gloom on the horizon. Nobody seems to have noticed his boat in the confusion, and he slips away. The sea is very calm that evening. Bond flips off the lifeboat cover, and throws all the gold overboard. "It's lonely being here without you." he says, caressing the final bar, before handing it to the sea. He then fixes the corners of the lifeboat rain cover to each side of the middle seat, locks his legs behind solid wood, and standing up with his arms outstretched, he holds the rain cover in each hand to act as a sail; - with himself as the mast and rudder. The old clipper trade winds are favourable, and Bond initially makes good progress. Towards nightfall, a safety pin fastened to the end of his belt is used to fish; which he eats raw; soaking up the nutritious oils instead of water. Triangulating his position by the stars, things are looking rather well. Several days go by, and then weeks. A storm arrives, and things begin to get choppy. The boat is bashed by 50 foot waves. The small, fragile vessel rolls up and down the sides of sheer cliff faces. Bond bails with his hands, but it is useless. The boat is flooded, and starts to be ripped apart. He prays to God, as a huge wave rolls overhead, and the boat almost sinks. Panic and desperation set in, but by now he is too exhausted and weak to put up much of a fight; and lies there in the flooded tub, spitting out water instead of breathing. Eventually, he collapses and loses consciousness. [Video Game: Gather the elements for the bomb from the horses and galley stocks. Escape, and learn to navigate the oceans by the stars in a tiny lifeboat. Get the "Ah, Sushi" card.]
