I believe it is a poor comparison to describe fast days as essentially Yom Kippur. YK affects atonement, and it is true that one must do Teshuva to effect kapara ( except we have a notion that itzumo Shel Yom mechaper). The fast days are not about kappara, they are about Teshuva and tefilla. And regarding the four fasts in the Navi, it is about Aveilus, which is focused on Churban. There is no Aveilus or even sadness on Yom Kippur.

I fast because we have not taken back that which is ours. Ezra and nechemia did what had to be done. Today we lack the kishkas. That’s sad

That's not why we should fast or mount Tisha B'av. We also see Tisha B'av was kept during the second temple period when they had the temple, so as Rambam says, we mount the destruction of the temple, not anything else. Even if the temple is here, we still mourn that it was destroyed. Though we know some holidays will be gone in end times, so in the end times, that's when we stop

@@Bittzen Jews have had and given up quite a few holidays over the eons. Fast days and celebrations alike. Tisha b’av is no different.

@@Bittzen and I will also say I’m tired of my religion being turned into a vale of tears. Everyone walking around beating their breast Oy. Enough already. We aren’t in 1850s Ukraine or Poland.

Ezra did more than what needed to be done and it is disappointing that so many accepted sending Jews away from Torah.

Perhaps its time we start thinking for ourselves and stop relying so much on the words of men from the middle ages. Also putting down the script and speaking to יהוה from the heart ❤️ would help us out tremendously dont you think
