Just want to say that I've been using every dollar now for about a year. Every time I pay off a credit card I cancel it immediately. I've canceled three cards and have two more to go. I'll have everything paid off except for our house and car but the end of this year. The car should be paid off by next April and then I start working on the house. The debt snowball works and I try to encourage others to do the same. I preach how bad debt is and how it will do nothing but keep you in debt forever. I know Dave says to get everything but the house paid off and then invest 15%. But I'm paying off the debt and at the same time I'm investing 24% in my 401k as well as a little into mutual funds each month. I'm 55 and I think it's best to do both at the same time.

35:00 mark: I used to be a courier for Fedex.. I'd work 12+ hours a day, 6 days a week.. and I made $18 an hour. UPS definitely has a waaaaay better situation. It's almost criminal how we were treated at Fedex. Thankfully I was able to find an office job that pays way more and I do way less work.. I was literally getting up before the sun rose, to drive until it was pitch black at night.. didn't benefit me at all. In fact I made far less money, so my point here is that just working more hours at a horrible job is not really the answer. The answer would be hold off, hang in there while you try and find a better job.

....if you have a spare car OR the residence is on a reliable public transit option, including evening runs. Au pairs need & deserve time off & need to be able to circulate. There is this common misconception that in order to have a good credit score, you need to get into debt (and pay interest depending on the contract). Ramsey also said that in one of his Shorts that you need to dig into debt in order to get a good score. And this is not true. I have an 800+ score and I use my credit card modestly. I don't even understand how using no more than a mere $1000 a month on an almost $100K a year even gets me an 800 but that aside, I pay off my balance every month. There is NO interest whatsoever. No car loan, no Heloc, no nothing. I pay nothing in fees to any bank. But I still have an 800 score. You don't need to get into perpetuating debt to have a good score, it's a myth.

Regarding the mom wanting to payoff her daughter’s student loans of 80K….don’t you agree the daughter should have a little “skin in the game”? She’s the one that chose to go to an expensive school out of state. Maybe the mom pays 70K and leaves 10K for the daughter to payoff. It’s just the principle of not creating a sense of entitlement for the daughter going forward in life and relying on mom’s money. Just my opinion.
