I'll add to the first caller's thoughts here. I worked at a Fintech company myself, and it was kind of bizarre how we justified what we were doing, especially with high-interest short-term (essentially, 'payday') loans. Primarily, the hivemind logic at the company was that if WE don't offer these loans to our customers, they will get the loans elsewhere. And while I get that idea, and it certainly is compelling especially when you have to compete with other businesses, it's a very cynical and defeatist attitude. "If we don't screw over our customers, someone else will!" I only lasted at that company for about a year before I decided to quit. I would never want to be part of something like that again.

This show has changed my views about money. My 50th birthday was on July 2nd and I asked for books. Total Money Makeover, Baby Steps Millionaires , Rachel’s book and John and Ken’s books. Just need George and Jade to write theirs m. Thanks for the great advice daily.

I wish that the vocational trades would get the attention they deserve. They used to, but now there seems to be a drastic turn towards academic college. I have nothing against college. Let me be clear on that. But my late husband was a skilled tradesmen for 33 years And we had a very nice life. A beautiful home three cars, two vacations a year. Now he got sick and did pass away but as a widow, I am taken care of because of all of his hard work. I just think people need to realize how important and how much the skilled tradesmen and women are needed. We need electricians we need plumbers. We need people to build bridges and buildings so they don’t collapse. What would you do if your toilets didn’t work? Are you going to know how to fix it? Probably not. A Union plumber makes about $73 an hour and a licensed electrician probably makes just as much if not more with his benefits and pension and annuity package wrapped in. I just wish that people would encourage their kids to look at the trades. I spent 15 years working in a public school district. I can’t tell you how many meetings I would sit in with parents and guidance, counselors, and directors of student professional services, and I was always the only one who ever brought up the skilled trades as a futuristic option for their child. And in closing, I’d like to mention, you don’t have to join the union. You can have your own private business. I know very few private plumbers and electricians that have gone out of business. Most of those businesses are passed down from generation to generation.

I sort of do that with Amazon to stay within my boundaries. I don’t have my personal cards attached to my Amazon account. I go out and buy an Amazon gift card at the grocery store for the amount of money I’m going to spend on what I already know I’m going to buy and need and is in my cart then I go home and I use that gift card on Amazon to buy those needed items and that’s it! People can go a little crazy on Amazon, myself included but a few years back I thought I’ll just go to the grocery store and buy a card like I would for somebody else’s birthday, go home, stay within the parameters of that card and then that’s it. When I need something I’ll go and do the same thing again only buying what I need. Now sometimes there’s a small fee attached to those cards but I think doing it this way is the lesser of two potential evils lol and that is over shopping an over consuming. I buy certain supplements and protein powders , coffee, consumables I call them off of Amazon. It’s easier because for me to get into the car I’d have to drive to three or four different stores, using gas to obtain those items.

I don’t agree w selling homes that are paid off. I would hire a company to handle that. The caller made enough to pay off her home and she had substantial savings to put a chunk on that. Idk.

Dave should watch these 2 and learn STOP interrupting. I'm avoiding the episodes with Dave for this reason. IT'S RUDE RUDE RUDE! I don't care if the answer has popped in his head before the caller finished talking. Enough! Manners Dave. You know what those are and aren't above using them.
