I got an honor grad go from Capt. NoGo Potter in Darby. Had actions at the objective on a recon. While I was putting in the surveillance team the guys on the objective started breaking the site down and left on a truck. Potter kept hounding me about what I was going to do. I sent one guy back to the ORP while myself and the the surveillance team observed and took notes. Never had to deploy the recon teams and disseminated info on the go. Didn’t quite go by the book and I was concerned that I might have failed my patrol. Potter said it was the only honor grad go he had ever given during the debrief. He said that most students get so flustered when things don’t go as expected that they panic or they stick to the book even when it’s not the best decision. I figure that I just got lucky that the objective was moving and I didn’t let Potter badger me into putting out the recon teams and taking a chance on being compromised. That was class 10-79. Damn I’m old. Don’t recommend not going by the book but it worked that time. Really like your content and it’s good of you to help young Rangers get through Ranger school. RLTW

admittedly I served long before technology arrived, and to us, the CEOI was the single most important little book you could draw from S-2 before you went to the woods, and much like your ranger handbook, we would create the same basic protection system, although we did cover certain pages that were used a lot with acetate, the wonderful memories! lol

Yes, not being military I remember those days without the tech of today, a lot of fun. I'm 66 and tech has changed a lot, I miss type writers and the dictionary that went with it.

I remember the CEOI vaguely in training, but I have much more vivid memories of "misplaced" Kyk13 after a night jump on Salerno DZ. An entire company, in the dark, at double arm interval. All night searching for this gadget. We never found it because it never left the PL's ruck. He had put it in that velcro top flap of his ALICE pack. We never did see him again but I'm guesssing he's probably wearing stars somewhere now.

Your comment toward the end of the video about having the Ranger handbook nearby simply to informally reference or look something up once in a while has served me well for over a decade now, albeit not within the realm of the armed forces. I received my motorcycle endorsement on my driver's license a while back, and in partial requirement for entry into the safety course to procure said endorsement was for each student to print out their own rider safety manual, which would be referenced and noted throughout the course. After the class concluded, I hole punched all of the pages (about 130 of them) and put them in a binder for future use, and just as you noted, each season before I put the bike back on the road, I make a point of thumbing through all of the major safety tenets found within my own "handbook". I don't mean to equate motorcycling with elite soldiering mind you, but the mindset of preparedness seems to transcend military life into the civilian world...hence what I think makes your channel that much more interesting. Take good care, and thanks.

Another good video. A great thing to track down for notes or writing orders in the field is frosted mylar or pencil talc. It is a slightly opaque waterproof plastic that has a slight texture on one side. Tape it to your book and you are good to go. The texture allows you to use a pencil. The best thing is it can be soaking wet with the rain or melting snow on top and the pencil still works. The permanent markers are good for staying power but the surface must be relatively dry for the ink to stick. Simply erase the pencil with one of the white eraser. To prevent leads snapping get a .7mm mechanical pencil or go all out and get the 1mm drafting pencil. The talc used to be commonly found in drafting supply stores but with computer assisted drafting they are harder to find. The pencils and erasers can be found almost anywhere but the 1mm drafting pencil can be found in a store like Staples in the drafting section.

Don’t bring any RHBs. They make you throw them away if you bring one. They issue you a new one at Rogers. Using the ziplock with 100MPH tape is key. The ones that have the quick zip always break, use the old school style that you have to press together to seal. The tabs are great too, I flipped to the OPORD section 100’s of times. I wound up reinforcing my pages with clear packing tape too so the pages didn’t fall out.

Definitely going to impliment this to when I go to Ranger School on the 15 May. So, in a week lol. I'm curious as to what would be wise to write down on the loom tape you have on the front/back of your handbook that would prove useful. I could think of a few things, but I'm curious as to what you would say. Really man, thank you for your Ranger content. I feel more ready, as well as, for so many other soldiers getting in.

I remember using a long, green plastic bag. We called it an elephant condom. Ranger Joes near Benning had them. Plus I added another 3 zip lock bags and a map case. I don’t know how it survived Ranger School especially Swamp phase. We were wet for 14 days straight.

@GrittySoldier
@GrittySoldier 2 жыл бұрын
Both are good herbs IMO but I would consider them testosterone replacements or something that’s going to “pump you up” (Arnold voice). They are good natural ways to regulate already existing testosterone levels, and increase focus and recovery. But they are also not miraculous. Make sure not to spend too much money on fancy labeling for these products, because most the time that’s the only thing you’ll be paying for 😔
