Last we saw Lamar with another MVP season awhile consistently facing top tier teams. I agree that Henry changed the way the defensive coordinator is going to sleep. He is a nightmare or a centaur, who has been known to stiff arm a soul or seven into the shadow realm with Earl Thomas. No disrespect to Gus Edwards, but he probably wouldn't have averaged 5 yards per carry for his career somewhere else. John Simpson is still John Simpson. Lamar Jackson and the Ravens differences between the Raiders is the difference between veteran minimum after getting cut by the Raiders for too many penalties and on the ground too often to leaving in free agency from the Ravens for committing too many penalties and ending up on the ground too often in pass protection. The Ravens have always had guards and linebackers and edges, but they always had like regular inexpensive running backs instead of the dark imposing shadow of a Centaur cast behind a juggernaut wearing number 22 looking bigger than the outside linebackers and yet still reached nearly 22mph in his last game with a rookie qb. Also, Likely was lights out replacing Andrews, who combined with the King will form a Bermuda triangle type of disappearing safeties.

The offensive line has to be the most cohesive of any group in football. By far. That takes time. No matter where or time. It has always been the same as long as the NFL has been around. This is NOT college. This is not Alabama or Georgia where you outsize and bully your opponent with a massive O-line year in and year out with plug and play 5 start recruits everywhere. This is the NFL. That's their biggest challege. They have zero issues with their receivers. They have 3 TE's that can catch the ball as good as any to complement their WR's. That's not the problem at all. It's the time it takes to have a cohesive O-line. You just don't bring in 3 new starters and say here we go. And that schedule doesn't help any.

I think if they switch it up between 12 personnel, and 11 personnel it could be devastating. One thing they definitely have this year is options.
@mazeofthemind5604 ай бұрын
Others have said it too, but I think the skill position is being undersold Mostly because this is hands down the best TE1-3 in the league. Andrews is a top-5 TE, probably more like a top-3, and Likely is probably already a top-20 option that would start on plenty of NFL teams. Its hard to pin down the value of TEs since they're so situational and package dependent, but with all of its starters this is a scary, scary team passing out of 12 personnel. The biggest variable is Bateman, and to a lesser extent Walker, this is his first healthy fully healthy NFL offseason, he's had stretches where he looks like a top-20 option, and if he can get back to that with Walker as a dedicated deep threat opening up the intermediate middle where Lamar does his best work, the ceiling of this passing offense explodes. But Henry is the X factor, its not hard to argue he is basically 90% of 2019 Henry, and that his decline was mostly the situation around him. The 49ers are the only team that comes close to the Ravens as a RB landing spot. If we get 90% of 2019 Henry with Lamar Jackson and even average blocking, this will be a historic year and Henry is capable of absorbing every single carry Monken throws his way. The long pole is obviously the OL and RT in particular. Rodger or Faalelle are going to get their lunch money taken a few times this season, the hope is they round into average starters by seasons end. I actually think the questions are overblown at Guard, Vorhees is a very good prospect in year 1.5 of the system, Cleveland had stretches of strong starting play late last season, on top of immense physical tools.

The O-line will be fine just like last year. Teams weren't actively rushing because of Lamars ability to escape the pocket or extend plays and find open guys. They will also no have to make sure there is enough guys to stop the running game. This now leaves a bunch of one on one matchups with Zay, Mark, Likely, and Rashod who will be drawing the second corner will be getting open. Derrick and Lamar will keep eyes in the back field
