I like how sunbreak handled it, you had monster parts that were generally hard, and took poor raw damage, but could be fairly easily broken with elemental damage. That and they also buffed element so hard, I'd say its better that element hits harder because you have to work for it. Its not cheap making many sets to cover multiple elemental weaknesses, vs one raw set. It would really be nice if MH wild tied element with blighting monsters, like you could really shock them, frost them, cover them in flames.... for a few seconds. Kind of like paralysis, poison...etc. Rise balanced raw and element really nice. World was not able to because elemental bonus damage was just too weak. It would get on par with raw set ups at best, but couldnt really surpass them. Fatalis raw meta is practically one rarity above the other rank 12 gear, theoretically rank 13 considering how strong it is.

defender weapons were the worst thing in mhw they littereally made the entire weapons tree till ice born useless

that was kind of the point, it was to streamline progression into iceborne which was toted as the true experience for world. besides, what are you REALLY missing? bone weapon 1 or 2 or 6?

I always liked the concept of elemental damage in Monster Hunter, but it was always second to raw and just felt borderline unneeded at times. IMO, it should be structured as: pure raw is the general catch-all that lets you hunt all monsters effectively with just one build, while elemental is the more specialized build that lets you hunt specific monsters a bit faster. I haven't been too up to date with either of fifth gen expansion's content, but if that is indeed the case with end-game Sunbreak then I'm glad they finally got the system in order. They could also expand elemental damage as a concept by maybe having special mechanics attached to them. They were kind of getting somewhere with Alatreon, but they went way too far overtuning it and alienating pure raw weapon sets. Things like having monsters with parts that can only be broken with element damage for an extra carve or to make specific attacks a bit weaker (like how Barroth's head can only be broken with impact damage), having elemental damage trigger a slightly longer flinch against certain monsters to serve as the mid-ground between KOing with a blunt weapon or not KOing at all, or having more cases like with Agnaktor where parts of its body get softened up by specific elemental attacks (just don't make it as annoying as World Lavasioth) all can make elemental damage feel more unique than just being extra dps while also not literally forcing players to forgo pure raw for a single fight.

Yeah like, raw made an entire weapon type impractical to use for a minimal return. Not everyone cares about time attacking, so it wasnt in the forefront until rsb made the damage noticeable. I feel like the values were wildly unbalanced, but right where they needed to be in order for it to be good. I just want wilds to make element just as viable, just not with the 200+ element values.

another nerf on element on the older game was the decision to put the quest board, where you know what you will hunt and so there element weakness and the place where you can actually change your build to use this weakness in another room... so 2 loading screen each time you change your hunting target to have the privilege of killing the monster slightly faster... Also the fact you kinda need to have a browser open to actually get the elemental weakness instead of just guessing And the set building in game without any ability to preview your armor set before crafting and the fact you need to navigate 5 screens that have like 15 pages per rank and all rank one after the others make me want to not engage with the set building and just make a single raw set... I am dumb so I still made 6 set but that me

Yeah, thats a good point. The drag of using element barred a lot of people from using it. Set swapping was tedious before my time with mh, so i forgot to list this reason. Unless you were farming the same monster 20+ times, using element set swapping was a time sink. Also, hunter notes being bad/nonexistent, meant you had to look up resistances via sites like kiranico. It was only true up until rsb tho.

Even on Alatreon, if you have mastered the fight, you can kill him faster (and even before the first EJ) with raw weapons since his raw hitzones are better than elemental. Specifically for bowguns, it is much faster to just use pierce ammo rather than elemental ammo
@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
For the average player, that wasnt possible without a single escaton judgment, Let alone blademasters. Gunner is always the time attack exception imo. Most blademaster time attacks ive seen kill him with a max of 1 escaton judgment, but they were rocking element.

Clutch claw not boosting elemental damage is very dumb
@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
My reaction when i looked up the formula on reddit.
@athos92937 ай бұрын
@@greadyknight It should not only boost it, but give it a bigger increase than raw's
@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
Iirc, the max raw hitzone boost is +25. (On specifically a 0 motion value hitzone). Element hitzones are capped at 50, so i think the formula would have to be different if it were scaled element as well.
@athos92937 ай бұрын
@@greadyknight Clutch claw could've been implemented in a lot of different ways. My personal ideal world would be one in which clutch claw serves to wallbang monsters but not to tenderize their hitzones
@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
My intrusive thought for the day: clutch claw is a yeehaw mechanic instead of a tenderizing mechanic. Removing tenderizing would be the balanced solution for sure.

so does MHW Iceborn have element cap of is it also 160%?
@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
cap was stated to be 160% on the mh reddits. Someone tried to reach it but the element boosts don't let you hit it, even if you try to invest in every element skill.

Gunlance literaly have no reason to use elemental dmg. I still hope to see elemental shelling in wilds :/
@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
I know the bare minimum of gunlance. A lot of the damage comes from shelling and wyvernfire for respective playstyles. Imo have it scale with fire investment. Could be like element phial, but only fire gives a buff.

@greadyknight7 ай бұрын
I currently have no plans to make a discord. Im usually on reddit, but the main reason is that a community should be on one platform, that way there isnt anyone who misses out for not being on multiple platforms. Ie If you consume my content on youtube, i wont make anyone hop to another platform to watch exclusives and stuff. Ill just stick to youtube for mh stuff. ( i will link docs and stuff directly to relevant videos cuz theres only so much i can discuss without losing retention or deviating from the main point of the video). Also, with my day job, i dont have the time to manage a discord and make videos.
