Does anyone else remember that INTERVIEW about Jesse James Cousin Ida? She discussed Her Uncle Jesse and Billy the Kid. Jesse actually rode with Billy’s father in The War between the States. Cousin Ida said that when Brushy Bill Robert’s died that her Cousin Jesse cried. Her Cousin Jesse took on several aliases. She called him “Uncle Jesse” as a show of respect. When “Brushy Bill Robert’s” wanted his Pardon and the Governor treated it like “a circus”, why would any “imposter” be so adamant about “his Pardon”. I never hear anyone mention what ethnicity Pete Maxwell was but, assuming he was a white man, my big question was always this: Why would a white man enter the bedroom of another white man, after midnight, and ask, “¿Quien es?” Even if both were fluent in Spanish, there’s no reason for this to have occurred. Thank you for being the first person I’ve ever seen also raise this question.

Judging by the photos of the Maxwells, they're either half mexican or native. Many natives adopted English surnames. For example, one of the men who raised the flag on Iwo Jima was a native man from the southwest by the name of Ira Hayes. Maybe Navaho or Apache.

Yknow. We have to remember who is writing people’s history. Like we’re finding out that the Aztecs didn’t really sacrifice people but their history was written by people who wanted them to look at bad as possible. His history was written by a man who wanted to be a hero and him to be a villain. And dead. I try to look through different lenses. I was watching a movie and a criminal was being observed and his father said “he stole because he was just hungry and the law wouldn’t leave him alone” and the detective said “maybe he just wanted to steal … (this took place during the depression) and his father in tears said “he stole the chicken bc we were hungry” and the police turned him into a criminal bc they made it impossible for him to even get a job. So he had to steal more. And to this day we only know him as a criminal (Clyde Barrow) So yah … who is writing the story

The corroborating evidence in your documentary shows he new a great deal more then he could have ,with out actually being present that night. So either this man was hanging out, and we never heard of him ,or it appears he most likely is Billy the kid. One thing to remember this was in the 1950's and the ability for brushy bill to get this information would be almost impossible at that time. Facts are facts and fiction is fiction. Short and sweet.

At about 15:50 into this posting, while relating Poe's account of what happened, I believe there is a strong psychological ''Tell'' that occurs in his story. He goes into saying he was relieved that Garrett, after a little hesitation, states he is convinced that the man he shot WAS Billy the Kid. Poe talks about ''someone whom we did not want to have been killed''. To me, this statement was added on purpose to convince the reader that they [[ meaning one of the 3 ''Law Enforcement Officers'' present]] had not killed the wrong man. Who would put such a statement in there unless they were mentally trying to cover up something wrong they had done on this night? From a normal psychological standpoint, that makes no sense.

Brett what if I told you that I can't prove that Pat Garrett by his own words did not kill Billy the Kid. Ok here we go if you go to Pat Garrett book he said that " We approached these houses cautiously, and when within ear shot, heard the sound of voices conversing in Spanish. We concealed ourselves quickly and listened; but the distance was too great to hear words, or even distinguish voices. Soon a man arose from the ground, in full view, but too far away to recognize. He wore a broad-brimmed hat, a dark vest and pants, and was in his shin sleeves. With a few words, which fell like a murmur on our ears, he went to the fence, jumped it, and walked down towards Maxwell's house. Little as we then suspected it, this man was the Kid." Now from here Pat goes into what he was told by someone else what Billy was doing before they got to Maxwells place. Now let's pick back up where Pat start talking about Billy again. "When the Kid, by me unrecognized, left the orchard, I motioned to my companions, and we cautiously retreated a short distance, and, to avoid the persons whom we had heard at the houses, took another route, approaching Maxwell's house from the opposite direction. When we reached the porch in front of the building, I left Poe and McKinney at the end of the porch, about twenty feet from the door of Pete's room, and went in. It was near midnight and Pete was in bed. I walked to the head of the bed and sat down on it, beside him, near the pillow. I asked him as to the whereabouts of the Kid. He said that the Kid had certainly been about, but he did not know whether he had left or not. At that moment a man sprang quickly into the door, looking back, and called twice in Spanish, "Who conies there?" No one replied and he came on in. He was bare headed. From his step I could perceive he was either barefooted or in his stocking-feet, and held a revolver in his right hand and a butcher knife in his left." Now if you read this Pat just describe two different people one person with a hat who hoop the fence with no gun or knife in either hand. So what Billy hoop the fence took off his hat then head down to Maxwells place? Why would Billy do that? And the other person bear headed bear footed with knife in one hand and a 41 in the other.

I keep rewatching these and it makes me think of more points. To people who think they couldn't fake a death back then, people have successfully faked their deaths in the modern world. This is with cameras everywhere and where people commonly have dozens of pictures of themselves, even online. We, for sure, have ONE picture of Billy the Kid, which there was only a couple copies of and at least one copy was with Billy's friend. It was extraordinarily hard to identify people back then, you would need an eyewitness; or one of these very uncommon pictures. There are people in prison for faking their deaths today, it would be way easier back then... If you believe people can fake their death now, but couldn't do it back then, then you don't live in reality

Pat Garrett says the Kid had a pistol in one hand , and butcher knife in the other. yet Garrett ( who was holstered) was able to stand and draw and get the drop on Billy the Kid? I call BS on that " TALE"

If you have watched alot of other channels touting their knowledge of Billy/Brushy, you have noticed none have presented facts as Brett has. Instead they give their opinions and alot of hearsay .

Billy the Kid, and Jessie James lived on. I believe both of these stories. The last eldely photo of Jessie James was spot on. I used to look at the Death Photo of James in our History Museum, St Louis, and though it didn't look atal like earlier photos .I was ignorant of Brushy Bill Robert's until this night. I always felt Billy was judged wrong by History. They didn't call it a" War" for no reason. Great research...

The early 30s movie was my favorite, and shows much of the violence that started Lincoln County War. Yes, it's an old flick ...but very cool. Being an elder ..I loved how it ended. I've been a Fine Art researcher for almost 40yrs. This is so exacting. I wanna know whom killed Pat Garrett? Another mystery just waiting for a thorough investigator, such as yourself. Thanku.

I want to ask you a simple question : if he is the real Billy the kid why he have a different last name ? and why he was born in a different city and was in other places ???
@brushybret9 ай бұрын
I will be covering this in a future video on his genealogy. I will say this for now, though, there is no actual evidence that Billy the Kid was born in New York and no evidence that his name was McCarty. Most of the Kid's purported genealogy was simply made up by Pat Garrett's friend and ghostwriter, Ash Upson.

I don't know who was killed the night of July 14 but I do know that Garrett met his fate much the same way as that person (?) Garrett ambushed that fateful night in 1881. He was bushwacked by his two travelling companions sometime after 1905, just on the outskirts of Las Cruces NM, and since there were no witnesses the jury believed the self defense claim and the men were found not guilty of murder and set free.
@ole55399 ай бұрын
Not trying to start an alternate take here, but it appears to me that there is an "x" marked within each of the last three names of the jurors: Silva, Gitierres, and Jaramillo. Does this not present valid questioning as to their signatures and apparent misspelling?

I think the kid and Barlow were at the dance with celsia and deluvina and when they came back the kid and Barlow put up the horses in the barn and the ladies were first to silvas he told celcia of Garrett in which she told the kid and the ladies went to celsias while the kid and Barlow went to silvas door for food and concealment , the reason celcia showed up at the same time as deluvina at 3 o'clock in the morning
@user-qh9cz5xo7jkeithkucera9 ай бұрын
They probably went to maxwells when they heard the news and celcia checked the barn and saw both horses knowing the kid must still be nearby.

I don't know about this but they did during the investigation and on all accounts you didn't take it one thing facial features if you look closely at Billy the kid's face he didn't look nothing like the great outlaw
@brushybret Жыл бұрын
I already did a video on this that includes a facial recognition study conducted by two PhD scientists at the University of Texas-Austin that concluded that Roberts and the man in the Dedrick-Upham Tintype were a statistical match. The study used an internationally recognized facial recognition program, that is the same system used by law enforcement and the methods used in the study were peer-reviewed and published in two scientific journals and the results were verified by two independent arbiters. I never thought Billy met the end with Pat Garrett, I never believed Garrett, he wanted the money he didn’t care about the money. I do wish Billy had of been free he was just a young boy surrounded by powerful cruel men for the love of power. I’m sure he would be shocked to know people study and grieve for him. Certainly had I been born in time I would have found my way to pay respects to him and the life he made for himself. I stand with Billy Kindest regards kid that grew up loving Billy the Kid
