Fun Fact: The diamond Indy is after in this scene was one he looked for in the Young Indy tv show. It belonged to Alexander The Great.

Unfortunately that defeats the entire purpose of the scene, which is to show Indiana Jones is only interested in fortune and glory. He doesn't care about the history of the object, he cares about getting paid. His character arc in the movie is going from being selfish about archeology to one who wants to preserve the past. Changing the diamond from just a form of payment to an archeological trade takes away from his character's arc.

Great video, congratulations ! The Chinese history part is quite on point. I might just add that Nurhaci's main role was uniting the Jurchen (future Manchu) people and establishing the state of Later Jin. His son Hong Taiji would later found the Qing dynasty, and his grandson Shunzhi would be the first Qing emperor to rule from Beijing. According to Arthur W. Hummel's *Eminent Chinese Of The Ch’ing Period* (1943), Nurhaci was burried. His Fuling Mausoleum in Shenyang can still be visited today. Anyway, great work :)

According to "The Further Adventures of Indiana Jones" comic series, Short returned with Indy to he U.S., where he attended boarding school. In 1936, he assisted Indy off the coast of Bimini, where Jones was diving in search of evidence that confirmed the existence of Atlantis. When a corrupt captain tried to rob Jones of any treasures found, Short arrived in a speedboat to carry Indy to safety. Afterwards, he returned to school, lamenting it was no fun. And according to "The Lost Journal of Indiana Jones", Short eventually took up the search for the Peacock's Eye (the diamond that Indy was promised at the start of Temple of Doom), and managed to track it to Hawaii in 1957.

They got it backwards. Nurhachi was the valuable archeological object. The “trade” should have been the opposite way since the diamond had no archeological value.

When you run out of Indiana Jones history to talk about would you like to discuss the artifacts from other franchises based off it? One example is the Librarian trilogy. It has a lot less historical basis for some of its artifacts like the Judas Chalice or Crystal Skulls which came from Atlantis then ended up North America, but I think each of them are still a fun adventure that borrows a lot from history and mythos. And after that there's still plenty more series like it.
