So according to John Barrowman, the actor playing THE Captain Jack Harkness apparently broke down during the kiss because his real life brother took his own life due to the societal pressures of being gay, so for the actor to be a part of such a touching and beautiful moment between two men made him feel like his brother's life wasn't lived in vain, it was respecting who he was and honouring it. Also on a side note, EASTER EGGS GALORE in this episode, to both Torchwood and Doctor Who 👀

@@RomanTrecka Along with a sneaky bit of 'Bad Wolf' graffiti on the wall at the top of the stairs, and a tiny bit of the Doctor's theme when Jack talks about being brought back to life.

When I joined the main Doctor Who fan forum Gallifrey Base in 2009 I chose the username BilisManger. I was surprised that nobody else had used it, as it had been over two years since this episode aired.

Hello Emme!😊 I think that dance you were thinking about with your hands in the air was the 1920s "The Charleston".😉 It was THE DANCE of the 20s.

Even though he took someone else’s name and life, he will always be called Captain Jack Harkness to me. He earned it if I am honest and by the way I am enjoying you videos and reactions Emme.

Yeah this is Torchwood, so everybody is secretly bisexual, and they definitely wouldnt have been arrested, courtmartialed or beaten senseless in the 40's

You say that like the obvious implication of the ending wasn’t that after finding out he was gay, his squad left him to die. So in attempting to give him some last comfort before he died, “Jack” inadvertently caused it instead.

@@Longshanks1690 Thats dark. Not how I read it, but interesting.

@@Longshanks1690 oh, I didn't think of it like that either. I thought, when the rift was open everybody else were kinda mesmerised, so no one saw them kiss. And the dance was, well, just one dance, everyone's drunk and they march right the next morning, so nobody had time to process such peculiar behaviour from their captain. But what you say makes even more sense, yeah, that seems like a time-appropriate reaction for a same-sex dance.

Check out the version of Anything Goes that John Barrowman sang on this set for the Torchwood DVD extras. It's pretty fun!
