A 3 year trade war has created corporate casualties in both US and China. In China, a dual circulation model is now underway to mitigate the effects of US protectionism. In the US, a Biden administration mulls new economic measures against China, even as industry groups lobby for tariffs to be lifted. Both countries also brace for what used to be unthinkable- the possibility of a financial war.

@@betteryou3860 In an economy, we don't look at what they have now, but we look at what they have made so far, the rate of increase of wages in China is huge compared to the US, although they still have a very little amount of average salaries, the potential is huge there. That is why all the companies want to share a market in China, because of the profit they can get in the future. 13 trillion is a huge jump in the GDP for China, but 11 trillion, though it is only 2 trillion less, is not a huge jump in the GDP for the US considering the GDP was already high before China entered WTO.

America can't blame China for its problems. Businessmen will relocate their businesses to other countries where they can make more profits, it's natural. American workers demand shorter working hours, more pay, fewer working days and more benefits. Chinese workers are hardworking, loyal, disciplined and resilient. Which do you prefer?
@henrytep8884
@henrytep8884 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say Chinese workers are all those things you mentioned as their main draw. At the end, they're cheap labor, and everyone prefers cheap labor lol. You trying to conflate the main reason why people moved their business to another country with those characteristics of that working population is just patently false and misleading. Big business desire cheap labor, this is the basis of capitalism, the owning class wants to purchase the cheapest labor with the highest skill, while the working class would like to do the least amount of work for the most pay. That is the basis of the capitalism. You're an idiot if you think the chinese workers would put up with their working condition for a long time, in the short-run it works, but not in the long run. Why do you think they have suicide nets at at the Foxconn factory? That isn't a result of a hardworking, loyal, disciplined and resilient work force, that's a sign of the owner class extracting as much productivity from their mule.

But if you think for a second that US companies will relocate back to US soil because of that then u are sorely mistaken. They will keep looking for other countries with cheap labor to produce their products, and what will America do then? Look, the problem is that US did not even lose anything...their GDP was booming together with China. But US kept on making mistakes...Financial Crisis, recessions, and unnecessary military spending on continued war efforts....and this resulted in China overtaking them in growth. However, even with these mistakes, US economy as whole (measured in GDP) had a steady growth and almost doubled over the past generation from 2001 to date. I mean sure the poverty level is rising because of rapid technological changes and surge in big tech giants...but when they "China is cheating and damaging US economy"... the statement is false starting from "damaging economy". Their economy is booming...just not for every American. Big corp and whatever the American government is spending on is booming.

Actually, this video does a great disservice to establishing the truth. It helps make a case for laying the blame for the pain some Americans are experiencing on China. In truth, America benefited tremendously from trade with China. As proof, one just needs to point to the tremendous number of new American billionaires created during the two decades between 2000 to 2020. It is the American government which failed Americans who lost out during the course of bilateral trade. How? By keeping taxes on the rich low, and protecting industries that burdened the poor. and the middle class. By protecting the healthcare industry and allowing them to charge exorbitant fees and drug costs, they aided US healthcare capitalists on the sick. Almost two thirds of those in the middle class who slipped into poverty cited a health crisis as the factor responsible. Blackrock, armed with funds placed in their hands by rich Americans, swept up whole swathes of residential properties and once they controlled a sufficient part of the housing supply, they jacked up rents, contributing to working people no longer being able to afford the rent, and the ranks of the homeless in America exploded partly as a result.

U.S is kinda biased when it comes to fair economy, the fact that they also implemented such tariffs against Japanese businesses so that Japan can't overtake U.S in economy. I mean I'm japanese and I studied economy, it was such a shocking moment for me when I realized that the most important and the most trusted ally of ours is actually one of the main reasons on why the Japanese economy started declining on the step of the 21st century. America should stop their pride and should think about what is the right thing to do more than doing stupid stuffs just to keep it's title as the "Greatest Country of all" thing. Now America is regretting its stupid decision in the past as China rose to be the best on both economy and military when it's supposed to be the U.S, Japan, and Germany whose handling the world. As what I saw and learned on the past few years, I no longer blame China on why they became so powerful. Every country has its own goals and I think that China is having a stable time dealing with it whilst U.S, Germany, and my country Japan is slowly declining. I feel bad for it, we shouldn't even be on such a tough spot when the U.S itself has made relentless decisions on the past. The more I hate China because of its atrocities in the West Philippine Sea and on Taiwan, the more they get to have the advantage on controlling Asia's economy. Sarah Lande and family, who hosted President Xi Jinping, are the kind of Americans who impressed many leaders in the government of China. Even the former Ambassador to the US from China, Cui Tiankai said he was impressed by the US when he was studying there and later started to work there. And it is not just them; many ordinary Chinese citizens are also impressed and want to learn from US and other western first world countries. The impact has been great because China eventually managed to carry out many reforms and made China what it is today. With the US-China exchanges in different fields and industries, the world could have benefited from this as well. However, things started to take a drastic turn during the Obama administration with its "Pivot to Asia" policy. That was when tension in the South China Sea began to heat up and "freedom of navigation" become more frequent. Then the US-China relationship has been going downhill ever since. The US has been demonising China non-stop ever since with false accusations about Xinjiang, Tibet and raising up tension in Taiwan and Hong Kong. Even Japan is using this opportunity to boost its military strength and trying to alter the Pacifist Consitution by using the "China threat" as an excuse. The good and deep impression of US and the western world among the leaders and citizens in China, in general, have now become corroded by all these actions of the West in general, especially the US. Is that how the world like this to be? Is that how the Americans and people in the West like this to be?

Regarding the solar panel subsidies, those subsidies only go to the projects built within China where the project investor is the one to apply for the subsidy (even though the subsidies are usually pretty much delayed). Those subsidies are not contained in the panels exported to the other countries. I really like this objective view of the trade war between China and the US from a third party perspective. Both sides are developing. We cannot ask China to trade sweaters for American planes and cars forever, that would be unfair to China. The United States gets its goods and services based on the work of Chinese laborers and the damage they do to the environment.

Chinese have proven be better business peoples players in this internacional game and then as USA only knows make internacional business using interventions using military wars , at this point they don't know how to gamble . Desperation is a really frustrating feelings when you can't harass others ; that is the way USA is feeling.

From first two episodes, you will find two different philosophies, one does not try to find out why the economy is falling and try to blame someone else and put politics in first, and the other one is always talking cooperating and try find the way out of bad situation and less emphasis on politics!

The U.S wanted China in the WTO because it saw the opportunity for cheap Chinese labor. Due to a lack of foresight the US didn't plan on a reduced manufacturing base in the US. Don't blame China for your own shortcomings.

The problems of America's society are the private companies, while they create competitions, they also re-enforced people's greediness toward money. In a market economy, money is the most important thing, not any country nor any government. The control has to be there and be there a lot. the US government just doesn't have that much influence on the economy.

What a lovely documentary, thank you! It's our people-to-people exchanges that are our strength. They provide hope for the future. There are soooo many lovely Chinese people. It's a pity that some Americans associate them too closely with the actions of their government.
