I’m debating going back OTR when my lease is up. But the issuing I’m facing as well is I get paid $1,300-$1,400 after taxes local 4day work week. I have a tanker/haz & no local company is taking me without a experience but I’m pretty a OTR company would

TB I want to thank you brother. I’m currently in Tucumcari, NM this my first week out and loving it. It’s a lifestyle that I already feel like I belong in. I’ve messaged on a few of your vids but I’m out here doing the western states. Because of my granddad and you I have prepared myself for this lifestyle. The saving tips and all the errors truckers have I have listened to you and not just heard. Big ups to you man. Also with a friend of mine who is training me so this is being a breeze and fun, our daughters are first cousins basically like sisters so he teaching me right. About to head out in just a bit. Respect

I want to thank you for doing what you do for drivers, it got me into the field and helped on my way and more than anything it kept me alive. I recently left OTR and I'm now pursing a career in nursing. Fuck this industry lol, I did 5 years which is short term for most but it nearly destroyed the relationship with my loved one and you realize when you've done more than 2 years it doesn't even matter experience wise. Most of the good companies only look for 1 to 2 years of verifiable experience so even if you have the years your still competing with just getting their head on straight drivers and that was enough to steer me out of it (pun intended). Then you add to that the changing weather patterns and I just had to peace out, it's like the last 2 years you can't drive anywhere in the country without hurricane like crosswinds on the highway and that used to be more isolated to specific western states. I look at it now and wish I had just cut my teeth with a low pay for a year or 2 picked a different trade or even just got into nursing 5 years because you'll never be out of work with it.

They took these trades out of Jr./ high schools, because Black man were doing this. I had to pay a business school loan to get a trade in Computer Repair. This was mid 80's. Left my full-time mail clerk job, to go to these classes at night for 1 year to receive my certification.

if i can offer some perspective, i used to be a truck driver myself, and now im a recruiter. ive been a part of conversations and they say the customer accounts aren’t paying enough to yield any profit if they pay the drivers more. i’ve asked multiple times why we can’t pay company drivers more. they say it’s because they can’t afford it. on paper, the company lost over a million dollars last year. yet the executives are paid generously. and i wouldn’t be jealous of me as a recruiter if i were you, inflation caused all my bills to rise. and i haven’t received raises to make up for it, the raises i do get, get eaten up by taxes. it’s just a shit show all around.

Never has been, never will be, never could be, a nation-wide, long-term truck driver shortage in the US. We have **TOO MANY** truck drivers in the market, which is why wages/rates are low. These companies complaining about shortages are having the same problem they've always had - turnover.
@bigblakbubba1289Ай бұрын
aint a high trucker shortage, but a high turnover rate. keep spilling Gems big dawg

The statistics don't lie. There are millions of qualified licensed CDL holders that work in other fields. Mexican trucks are driving rates down. Look around at a truckstop or customer. Foreigners are quickly taking over OTR. They can run a truck non stop. They will run a team for 2 weeks, paying each driver $1000 bucks a week. Then get a run across the border to switch teams. 26k USD and 2 weeks off a month is a better deal than what the vast majority of Mexicans can get somewhere else, but it's killling rates and pay for US drivers that have US expenses. Trump or Biden might do something about it, only if they thought not doing so would cost them the election. OTR Truckers are unorganized and most are probably not even registered to vote. The fact that this is happening and an entire industry is being decimated by foreign workers with no work visa should be big news, but the fact is the average person who has no exposure tl trucking, thinks we are overpaid.

Think we need maybe trump back in office and them over the wall.. (no offense but if they 1 minority is ruining it for the rest I think it’s time for changes for the next generation..)
@wesinthewest1100Ай бұрын
Truth is. All the money has gone to the CEO’s and technology to watch the drivers and AI to eventually replace the drivers and dock workers. The age of the Machines. Believe it or not this was tried in the past but failed and it will eventually fail again.

So is trucking paying decent or good? for a single man not even 20 with their permit planning on cdl?
@whatfor902918 күн бұрын
Trucking pays very very well its down moments here and there dont listen to these lying crying fools that made bad decisions then want to blame the industry. It will be a lil rough at first until you get a year or two experience then move on to a higher paying company, and idk what these fools talking bout its jobs at home paying 700-1200.... a week?🤯 tell me another lie tf yall live at 😂 every 2 weeks maybe idk any jobs paying that much a week and doesn't require you to go to school
