The REAL Reason NBA Teams didn’t Draft Bronny James:

NBA Teams wanted to Draft Bronny, but they were threatened not to pick him.
According to reports, Rich Pall, who is LeBron’s Agent has been calling any team that expressed interest in drafting him, that Bronny would take his talents overseas to play in Australia until he is allowed to choose to come to the Lakers on his own.
With this tactic Rich Paul and LeBron were able to scare off any team that thought they could pull a move to entice LeBron to leave the Lakers and join their team. Eventaully the Lakers got what they wanted and drafted browny 55th overall.
Now before you think this type of tactic is something new, it’s actually quite old, for example: The Clippers back in 1989 had the #2 overall pick in the 1st round, they Selected Danny Ferry, Danny did not want to play for the Clippers so he played 1 year in Italy then came back to America to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
So in the end, even if a team really wanted Bronny, they wouldn’t have gotten him to sign any contract, unless that team was the Lakers.

@@whytheydothis I don't like it but ultimately you can't force a guy to play for a particular team if he doesn't want to play for that team. That team could still draft him but since he's already made it clear that he doesn't want to be a part of your organization you'd be spending a valuable draft pick to bring in a malcontent. A team could take that risk but to my knowledge none have and imo they're wise not to at that point as the risks outweigh the benefits. Usually a team in that situation ends up with a comparable player anyway. When Eli refused to play for the Chargers they drafted Philip Rivers, Lonzo Ball (probably Lavars dictate honestly) said he wouldn't play for anyone but the Lakers who picked at 2. So the Celtics, who picked at 1 traded down to 3 and took Jayson Tatum, who was most likely their preferred choice anyway. And it remains to be seen what Bronny becomes but he doesn't project to be anything more than a longterm backup PG at best. So barring a generational talent (i.e. Lebron, Wemby, etc.) you're better off just going with your next best option.

Eli Manning was drafted first overall by the Chargers, but him and his dad Archie had come to the decision that he would refuse to play with the Chargers if picked by them(for valid reasons). When the Chargers picked him, he still refused, so they traded with the Giants, who picked Phillip Rivers as part of the deal. Players refusing to play for a team that drafted them is not new at all, and not exclusive to the NBA.
