I'm finding myself struggling a lot at the moment. The longest time of sobriety I had was 5 years and 11 months. Since the major relapse I been pulling together months at a time. Mostly between 4 to 6 months. Today in all honestly I'm hurting.

I drink my whole life, it was really bad during the pandemic and i quit in 2021. After aprox one year exactly what you said happened to me, i convinced myself that everything was not that bad and i will be able to controle it. Well, one year after i was as addicted as i used to be. So i quit again and now it's my fifth sober week. This video is what i really need right now , so precise, so timely, thank you❤

“What this lady is on about” is providing helpful information for addicts and families dealing with the massively destructive and difficult disease of addiction. Yes, it probably doesn’t apply to you at this time, because if it did, you wouldn’t be making flippant comments about it like it’s some kind of joke. I hope it never affects you or anyone close to you. It’s worse than you know.

This could work for some people. Get heavily drunk. Drive to the nearest police station. Go in and show yourself in that condition. In Germany, your driving licence will be taken away from you, for at least 18 months. You won't get it back until you have done a medical and psychological test. Within the 18 months, every month or every three months, you have to do an alcohol test, depending on which test you chose. There are two types: Urine or haar test. If you really need your licence back, you definitely will stop drinking alcohol with the 18 months. Before the 18 months are over, you will get used to sobriety. It worked for somebody whom I know. Something irresistible must happen, before some people give up being alcoholic.

Question @puttheshoveldown. What if they've been in rehab numerous times, completed the programs numerous times, and within 24 hours of leaving, they are already drinking. The drinking goes on for a few weeks, and they either end up in ICU with a BAC of .30 (that number is correct) or begging to get into another rehab where the whole entire process continues. Any advice for that? Maybe dedicate a show about that? It's my child btw.

This video might help with that question. It's about staying sober after rehab. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4KUqaB4pKlrgcU

My AH used to drink heavily everyday, then cut it down to once every 3 days, then once every 5 days, then 7, 10, 13. This gradual cut back went on for 6 months. I believe he was trying to get better as he had a lot of insight into the problem and everything about him felt different. But something changed a month back. Old habits creeped in. I feel he is trying again, but is using it every 3 days. Was 6 months phase just bargaining or can we call it early recovery?

That's me exactly, but I just keep falling back after a week or two. I have been repeating this cycle for 40 years now. I am now 60, and I am scared of who I will be at seventy if I don't stop. Any advise for older users who are really in a long term cycle. This video does help a little to understand. I guess I fall in the category of I am just to addicted to be saved, that you mentioned.

I’m not sure why I’m following this channel Here’s the thing I love my booze I have a whiskey that I really like I’m sober all day and if necessary I can be permanently sober So look I don’t know what this lady is on about Only to say Booze rocks in moderation and we don’t have a problem

I’ve seen you trolling this page on different videos, and I am not certain what your aim is ? You profess you don’t have an issue with alcohol (interestingly enough immediately coming to alcohol’s defense ?) and then dismiss helpful advice for others. It’s definitely fascinating to observe as someone who doesn’t struggle with addiction and watches these videos to better understand the minds of those in my life struggling with addiction… I don’t know why you follow the channel either, to be honest. If you don’t have anything helpful to contribute, why comment at all? (Unless, ofc, the alcohol you expressed your love for is fueling a false/deluded sense of bravado through some desperation for attention, pulling it away from helpful content to feel noticed/given attention yourself for a moment ? (which is a call for a need to give that attention to yourself.) Maybe focus on making your own content and/or self-actualizing instead of hopping onto other peoples’ content and criticizing it, especially inappropriate for a recovery community (acting like booze isn’t addictive and a professional with twenty years of experience doesn’t know what she’s talking about).

"I can get sober and stay sober whenever I want " is classic addict talk. We all tell ourselves that in the beginning. The small part of you that realizes you have a problem is following the channel.
