oof. The concept of "World ID" should terrify us. A world ID is the opposite of anonymous. Meaning, while you may be anonymous to the orb you are not anonymous to the company selling your data. Let's be honest... Every site you visit, every place with an orb you go would be stored. How long will it be until you get a notification "Your ID is not allowed on this site..." or worse "You have been identified and must report to the government office of..." (but sure... say "...Dave, you're being silly..." and look at how much Google has made on our data - remember the days of "Do no harm..."?)

This video should have begun with an introduction, telling us what this orb is. As it was, we have pieces of information scattered throughout the video that we need to somehow integrate to determine what the heck they are talking about. At this point, I still have very little idea. It seems to be a way of identifying people and it has something to do with the blockchain and it may have a lot of potential - for something. That's it. Maybe I missed part one I guess.

The CCP and Canada showed me more than I cared to know about how terrifying it is in the hands of a government.)

A quick summary of what it is and how it works: In the future, we may need ways to verify our human identity as opposed to an AI. World scans your iris, as it’s unique to you, and uses data from this scan to create a code that confirms you’re a verified human. This code serves as a lifelong verification of your identity, recorded on the blockchain indefinitely. Their proposed solution tackles the potential future challenge of human verification. By having a cryptographically secure identity token, a verified human can prove their identity as non-AI. Supposedly the token is completely private and contains no identifiable information.

You mentioned whole lot of sensors built into this, but never really explained what they’re being used for. As I watched it it seemed like it’s just a fancy picture of an eyeball with some sensors to detect something that verify its probably not a picture of a human. Love S3 and I’m sure some of this is not supposed to be shared with the public to prevent it being misused but I feel like this episode has some areas that could be improved. Some potential use cases would be great as well. Right now if someone just takes your phone do they have access to your world ID? Is this something that will be built into phones in the future? Something like a Twitter that uses this. Where to post you must scan your eye to prove you are human could be interesting. But the given use cases of you can use online banking now doesn’t seem terribly unique. Love to see you taking a more active approach to the story telling though. I think this new format will be great

This whole project gave me major questions over Altman and his reasonings. Definitely getting big "tech bro god complex this is the only way to save humanity" type vibes from this project. Two questions remain in my head after reading about all this though: Why is a man who is rapidly working on developing more advanced AI that can distort reality (Sora, wide spread voice accurate AI, etc) also trying to sell us on a project with claims of how dangerous or bad AI will make verification of human users? Seems a bit like playing both sides of the pitch to me. Secondly, which is something other people pointed out here, how is this any different or how can this compete with the already in use verification systems that use a smartphones front facing IR blasters for facial scanning aswell as gyroscope and other sensors of the phone to verify that you are actually a human? Seems like an overly complicated method seeing as everyone already is used to smartphones and the newer sensor technology will quickly trickle down to all smartphones than this ord can get around.

It might be good to explain it starting with the problem: bots online. They're on all platforms and you've probably interacted with more than 1 before. What these guys are saying is there will be many more bots as AI gets better. So, my question to you is: do you care to talk to bots online who pretend to be human? I don't, so what's the solution? Solution is proving you are human without giving up your identity/ID/passport/ssn/dob to every website you visit. Instead you scan your eyeball to show you are a unique and real human and you get a verified checkmark via the websites working with World. So now you are human and if enough people join this, every human will always know if they are interacting with a real human or not. No more talking to bots that try to manipulate you. This is the main use case imo and it's a big problem today and will only become bigger if we don't deal with it asap.

As with all blockchain projects, this could be done without blockchain. Crypto is always shoe horned in for no reason. Sure they made a device that is meant to be better then the existing camera verification services (like the ones that get you to record yourself saying a specific phrase to verify you) but the blockchain part is unnecessary. It should just be verify you are a real person with the device and enter a password.
@Raulikien3 ай бұрын
Why is it unnecessary? Are you an engineer that will tell us a better solution? Go learn, it's free: Trustless Verification: Blockchain provides a public, trustless way to verify uniqueness without a central authority. If Worldcoin used just a device + password setup, you’d need a central server to confirm identities and prevent duplicates-something blockchain avoids. Global Access and Decentralization: Blockchain allows Worldcoin to offer the same system to anyone, anywhere, without relying on governments or institutions to maintain the integrity of the data. Auditability: A blockchain means anyone can audit the distribution and integrity of Worldcoin IDs, ensuring transparency. This is critical for building trust in any digital ID or UBI distribution.

I developed an advanced Database System that when i started developing it found that the main people interested were government agencies like the NSA & CIA -- mainly to track everything about anyone. Being the only one who understood it, i refused to work with them i kept the tech to myself. Quietly knowing i could have made billions --at the expense of trapping everyone including myself. Sometimes the right thing to do is NOT develop the technology to trap each other.

Human test? Ask AI to describe a moment of Pain or Unconsciousness. It can't. Tell you about its childhood until you run into something obviously false. Touch a wall. Or take something upsetting and watch it follow an unnatural pattern after recounting the same incident several times. AI can do none of these.

What happens, if the Id gets stolen?🤔😪. Seems like somebody is banking on a Human Id Crisis, that should not exist in the first place. We all know what happens with centralized control😂❤👍

If governments are going to be against this, then I’m in. If they are for, then it’s not as anonymous as they say it is.

But what if they are against it because they don't want to replaced by a larger stronger "One World Government"....so you give them your soul and they erase you. This is exactly what Gates/soros/Larry Fink and the other anti-humans want.

Maybe you are joking but this is quite a simplistic way of viewing the world and especially the role of government. I understand your sentiment but not every measure or stance a government (of which the degree of trustworthiness across the world is huge it's kinda stupid to just lump them all in together) takes is self-interested and autocratic. If Monstano said tomorrow "we're launching a new highly experimental chemical" and your government blocked it saying "we have safety concerns over the contents of this new chemical", would you go out and buy it anyway because "the government is against it"? I get the whole distrust in government and a healthy dose of scepticism is necessary when dealing with government but I think I'd be more inclined to believe a truly equitable democratically elected government than a large mega corp or foreign billionaire. Not every government has a track record like the USA governments do for example.
