@@SilentMike Thank you for the solid advice bro. Just booked 3 appointments with 3 different therapists, figured at least one of them will be worth talking to a second time 🤔 Seriously though, thank you. I'm in a 10 year tumble into despair, ridden with pains all over by body and all sorts of other ailments with barely enough energy to get to take care of the basics. Hopefully this will lead to a way out.

Thank you for taking the time to talk about mental health. I recently had an accident that now keeps me away from the sport that I love (bike racing). I’m learning how to pivot and diversify. You are making a difference to people out here on the internet. I appreciate it.

Having multiple areas through which to view yourself is a big one. I put all of my self-esteem eggs in the powerlifting basket. My self-worth is based on how much weight I can lift. So much so, that if I just have one "ok" session or even a subpar set it frustrates me for the rest of the day. I can't even watch other people train because I get too upset at being weaker. As a result, training isn't "fun" to me. Not that I dislike it, but I look at it as a job and how I can make myself feel like a more worthy person.

Hey mike i really loved this post. im 25 and have been watching u and mark bell on YT since i first started lifting just over 10 years ago. i am currently in the process of trying to get into my dream "normal job" of law enforcement which i think i would really enjoy. that said i have always had dreams of doing social media for a living and building my own brand. i grew up in my early teenage years when YT really first started getting big. idk how anyone really below the age of 25-30 who doesnt dream of doing social media for a career. there are so many ways to make a living (or even a killling) doing what u love, but it is obvisously much easier said then done and some whom even make it there burn out quick.

@@SilentMike yeh I know. In terms of views/ clout metric, selling your body will always win. But in terms of real value to society, good will always win. At least I hope. Hearing you talk about your struggles and life challenges is pure gold. You seem like a real person to me you know. I’m sick of the fake crap, lambo, naked chicks and mansions every video. Too much. Maybe I’m just showing my age here. Hahah

Bro doing the fitness stuff in real life without the content creation is more important. I wish i watched more of your stuff nowadays but i dont lift weight much and am more into mma. Youve had organic growth and following through your realness and being yourself. Not the fads or gimmicks that other followings are built from. Much love Mike, thanks for the talk and sharijg your thoughts.

Dude I totally relate to all that you're saying. I've been powerlifting since ~2015 (and did lackadaisical bro splits since 2005) and have gone through much of what you're talking about in this video. I do post on social media but wouldn't really consider myself a true content creator; I post mostly to track my progress and to find other people into health/fitness. Some people have told me my posts have inspired them along with some positive things here and there-which definitely strokes my ego a bit-but I personally feel uncomfortable being anyone's inspiration because I feel I'm not as disciplined and hard working as many assume I am and am flat out a lazy person. After feeling like I was an unstoppable force last week hitting PRs and killing it in the gym, I crashed hard earlier this week due to slacking on my diet and sleep and maybe overreaching last week. My strength, energy, mental state, and overall vitality plummeted, and it's been extra difficult forcing my lifeless corpse to the gym (which is already a challenge when I'm not so down) or just getting out of bed let alone leaving my apartment. Going from one extreme to the other is worrisome and reminds me of how fickle the human body can be. I also just turned 40 and wonder if I need to dial back workouts or need to get a thorough checkup to see if something is seriously wrong with my health. Much of my identity is tied into health/fitness, and I'm concerned about veering far off track and turning into a sedentary depressed blob with nothing else to passionate about. I've also been quite irritable, quiet, and grumpy at work lately but like you, I've been trying hard to push through my suffering and remain mindful of how my actions affect others and try to be a net positive influence of people around me. I really appreciate your openness about your own mental issues and makes me feel that much less alone in this health/fitness journey and life in general. I've been a fan of your's since ~2015 and am constantly in awe of how much you've progressed over the years and your discipline, drive, and dedication despite all the challenges you face. I wish you the best in this journey!

Well, I think you're doing great . And you must diversify . But the reason I watch your show is for information . How to bench how to squat and so on . How to get stronger how to be motivated . And I don't need therapy. I live off hate and sugar !!! Just remember this great content will always win . Good information will always win out from crap . Good luck .
