Agreed, most people confuse Interior Decorating with Interior Design. Completely different scopes of work with only a few similarities.

I cant choose between psychology and interior design...
@cocogilby4 жыл бұрын
@@Weirdos_us Both are great careers. I found out that although I wanted to be a marriage and family therapist/child development, I couldn't see myself constantly doing therapy and being able to disassociate myself from that person's trauma/problems. Obviously the more schooling you go through and experience you have, it gets better over time. I found that while I LOVED learning psych (and you can use that degree for many different things), I am a more creative person and interior design just spoke to me :). While psych is all about behaviors and mental illnesses, its also learning just how to talk to people in reality

I really like to see the focus on design process. Not just because I find it interesting from a creative perspective (space planning, finishes, client profile.. and all the reasoning behind each decision! YAY!) but also because it shows to people who don't know or understand the full scope of work and complexity interior design work. Designers don't enter into a place and magically know how the space will look like or how it will work better, it takes time to consider all the variables and how they affect the whole thing. Really liked this one!:) Question: Do you know from experience/education what you can and can't do in terms of building work, or you always consult with a builder during the process of evaluating all the possibilities for a space? Or it simply depends on the space?

Loved this @karinbohn! I love that you show the reality of interior design. I’d rather see you go through the process then jump to the end result. I’ve done a bit of interior consulting (can’t really call myself a designer since i haven’t done the schooling for it yet) but people actually think they’re Reno’s are like a HGTV show and it’s not all like that. So i love that you share this raw reality of the time, energy and planning it takes to pick a faucet all the way to picking a cabinet door. Entrepreneurship is a choice and it’s a great choice, I totally agree though with you that it’s ALOT of work and things just don’t happen overnight. You inspire me sooo much, I’ve been huge follower of your work. Maybe after I’m done at BCIT I’ll apply at your firm. I would love to learn from someone who’s so raw, passionate and talented like you. In the meantime I’m a fan of all your work and i watch all your videos! Love and many blessings Karin!

@@SultanAbusaif Soon I'm graduating with a bachelors in interior design. I personally went to university with a four year program, the first year I would say was a time waste to be completely honest. It was a lot of theory that no one remembers anymore, but every year after that was great and filled with a lot of useful information and practice. I personally enjoy it, and find that it's perfect for me. However, a lot of people have dropped out, because it is much more difficult than what people expect. There is a lot of theory, a lot of lectures, a loooot of out of class studio time, and a love technical aspects to every project. You have to write specs, know how to use software such as Autocad, Revit, Sketchup, Photoshop, and Lumion (which is a constant learning and lots and lots of hours spent in them). But I love all of that. p.s. excuse my English, it's not my first language :)

Needless to say, you have a very strong personality and you are very much fit on your vlogs pertaining to the: The Reality of Interior Design. Now that you are showing your office as I have watched lately in KZbin, maybe showing the rest of your office would need some refinement particularly by making it presentable and without clutters as you are in the business of making most of the spaces in order and pleasant to your customers’ eyes. Sophie Paterson an interior designer also can be sen in KZbin is one of the the good example when it comes to showing her office environment. I am wishing you all the best!
