Working less than 20hrs a week & still making 6figures plus as a nurse is still amazing & is working smart because it frees your time for other endeavors or other important things in life like family, friends, & adventures. So I’d definitely take that any day regardless of the taxes.

Tell me more, what school and job specific type do you do, how did you get the job to be able to work less than 20 hrs a week and 6 figures, I do 80 hours a week on average and still never broken that 6 digits mark. I come from a big family and friends, but I’m so use to working because I have a mortgage and car loans, so it have taken most of my life from family, adventures. Please help, thanks!

You should also add property tax into the mix. I live in Texas and we don’t have a state income tax but property tax of 2.7-3.0%. I once did the calculations and the higher property tax off set the no state income tax.
@NursesToRiches
@NursesToRiches 9 ай бұрын
Yes, the spreadsheet I have that looks at the cost of living for over 20 professions takes into account salaries, income taxes, and property taxes. You're right, even though no-income-tax states have no income tax, they still have to collect their taxes in other ways. One of those ways is property tax, in which Texas lands near the worst of the 51 states and territories. In fact, Texas' property taxes are the 46th lowest out of the 51 states and territories. In other words, 45 other states outperform Texas when it comes to property taxes. And California is number 19, meaning 18 other states have better property taxes. Hi guys! Thank you so much for posting this video. You've inspired me to make my own spreadsheet to break down my nursing income -- and as a Single RN in NYC, learned that I am taxed at a much higher rate than you (31%), even though I made only about $1000 less than Jason last year (tax rate is 15% for Jason only, 19.5% for joint). My state/city tax, along with my federal tax rates, are both higher. May I ask: did you notice that your tax rates have significantly decreased after you had your second child? I'm trying to figure out why my taxes are just so much higher than your's. FYI, after doing the math, I would kind of advise against moving back to NYC to work as a nurse. On average, with overtime, my take home pay is about $23/hour (with contributions to 401k; without any contributions it would still only be $30/hour). Whereas, for you guys, average take home pay would be $103/hour. In California, your time as a nurse is worth about about 3-4 times as much as a nurse in New York: that's a huge difference!

A new grad at Kaiser, working 40 hours per week with no overtime at all can earn at least $189k their first year as a night shift nurse. You don't really have a video exclusively dedicated to your retirement plan and strategy. Lots on how to get more income, but nothing really on how you plan to retire (stopping earned income), based on the thumbnails. Please do a dedicated video to this. Go into the numbers too. How much money do you need vs want in unearned income. List out what you want to be purchasing while in retirement. Please provide an age or how many years from now it will take. Etc

No, these are typical rates for nurses working in most cities in Northern California-including the ones with a relatively low cost of living.

@@NursesToRiches This is outrageously ridiculous. I'm so happy and proud of you guys for taking that money from The Man! :). How old are you guys? You still look like kids. It brings tears to me to see young people getting it so right. I quit ICU about 10 years ago because I got completely burned out at the bedside and just couldn't stand it anymore. I've been working as a locum NP for the past 9 years, and I like this better than the bedside. But sometimes I feel like I'm retrogressing. The pay has gone down significantly, and they are requiring us to see more and more complex patients each shift, and the documentation they are expecting forces providers to work many unpaid OT hours.That and the micromagement from the corporate suits who have NO clinical background but are ALWAYS telling you how and what to prescribe and how to manage the patients was just too much. I left California because I was earning good money there, but getting seriously screwed on the taxes. Than after a while the agencies began playing games with the money. I am keeping more of my total income by working for less hourly pay in other states. I advise caution about moving to New York though. I also grew up there. Its not the same New York anymore.

Im sure you guys know for Kaiser u need at least 11 shifts a month to maintain your seniority if not your seniority drops a month and if you work more than a 1000 hrs per yr you maintain your retirement benefits
@NursesToRiches
@NursesToRiches 9 ай бұрын
Yes, we know about the 1,000 hour minimum requirement to retain seniority it doesn't have to be 11 shifts per month because you could work a 12 or 16-hour shift and bring those 11 days down. Also, paid sick leave is included in the total 1,000 hours.
@geraldpascual3866
@geraldpascual3866 9 ай бұрын
I just said 11 shifts cuz it is easier for me to maintain that 11 shift goal of 88 hrs cuz our contract has this silly number of 86hrs per month to retain...I work in ambulatory surgery now so no more 12hrs or double shifts in the ICU anymore...love your vids

Now I understand why people with health issues file for bankruptcy caused by medical bills, and why the medical insurance is so unaffordable for most people. If nurses get paid over 100K working part time under 20 hr. per week, I'm afraid to ask how much doctors make per week! What a racket...I've never paid for health insurance, and I've avoided doctors and hospitals almost all my life by having a healthy lifestyle. Imagine all the stress, pain and money I saves myself from by avoiding going to hospitals.

Even after fact checking it here: www.thecity.nyc/2024/02/08/times-square-migrants-arrests-body-camera-footage-contradicts-nypd-account/ The attack on the officers happened and they were released. Camera footage showed the migrants raising their middle fingers at the reporters covering the scene and one of the migrants was later arrested on another charge. There's also the story of a Venezuelan man who oversaw a ring of criminals who rode mopeds and snatched purses and cellphones from more than 60 people, most of them women walking alone and have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from their bank accounts.

You live like you are retired with all the travel and looking at your clothing and that car... you should be grateful that you the income you do and plan for an early retirement at 50. I am sitting here discovering why the cost of medical is so high now. you work part time and make $260K... be thankful and stop complaining...
