You should also add property tax into the mix. I live in Texas and we don’t have a state income tax but property tax of 2.7-3.0%. I once did the calculations and the higher property tax off set the no state income tax.
@NursesToRiches9 ай бұрын
Yes, the spreadsheet I have that looks at the cost of living for over 20 professions takes into account salaries, income taxes, and property taxes. You're right, even though no-income-tax states have no income tax, they still have to collect their taxes in other ways. One of those ways is property tax, in which Texas lands near the worst of the 51 states and territories. In fact, Texas' property taxes are the 46th lowest out of the 51 states and territories. In other words, 45 other states outperform Texas when it comes to property taxes. And California is number 19, meaning 18 other states have better property taxes. Hi guys! Thank you so much for posting this video. You've inspired me to make my own spreadsheet to break down my nursing income -- and as a Single RN in NYC, learned that I am taxed at a much higher rate than you (31%), even though I made only about $1000 less than Jason last year (tax rate is 15% for Jason only, 19.5% for joint). My state/city tax, along with my federal tax rates, are both higher. May I ask: did you notice that your tax rates have significantly decreased after you had your second child? I'm trying to figure out why my taxes are just so much higher than your's. FYI, after doing the math, I would kind of advise against moving back to NYC to work as a nurse. On average, with overtime, my take home pay is about $23/hour (with contributions to 401k; without any contributions it would still only be $30/hour). Whereas, for you guys, average take home pay would be $103/hour. In California, your time as a nurse is worth about about 3-4 times as much as a nurse in New York: that's a huge difference!

I assume you picked Roseville because it might be close to work. I personally think midtown might be a better fit . I lived in the Roseville area for a long time. It’s a shallow sh&* show. Love your videos. Cheers.

Now I understand why people with health issues file for bankruptcy caused by medical bills, and why the medical insurance is so unaffordable for most people. If nurses get paid over 100K working part time under 20 hr. per week, I'm afraid to ask how much doctors make per week! What a racket...I've never paid for health insurance, and I've avoided doctors and hospitals almost all my life by having a healthy lifestyle. Imagine all the stress, pain and money I saves myself from by avoiding going to hospitals.

Jason, you may want to run a fact check on that NYC attack story because it was mischaracterized
@Momnicat9 ай бұрын
We're open to knowing both sides of the story and I always ask my family who live in Harlem if there's any new changes they've noticed.

Even after fact checking it here: www.thecity.nyc/2024/02/08/times-square-migrants-arrests-body-camera-footage-contradicts-nypd-account/ The attack on the officers happened and they were released. Camera footage showed the migrants raising their middle fingers at the reporters covering the scene and one of the migrants was later arrested on another charge. There's also the story of a Venezuelan man who oversaw a ring of criminals who rode mopeds and snatched purses and cellphones from more than 60 people, most of them women walking alone and have stolen hundreds of thousands of dollars from their bank accounts.

Lots of people care and this channel has amazing transparency. It's what brings people here as nurses around the country see how things should be for this field.

It seems like you are upper middle class in your 30's? You work part time and pocket $188K and are complaining about your taxes? This is how it works. You live like you are retired with all the travel and looking at your clothing and that car... you should be grateful that you the income you do and plan for an early retirement at 50. I am sitting here discovering why the cost of medical is so high now. you work part time and make $260K... be thankful and stop complaining...
@NursesToRiches9 ай бұрын
Wait... I'm confused... where is the part where we complained about our taxes? The whole point of this video is to tell OTHER people to stop complaining about the taxes... what in the world...

Being a nurse/ doctor in a welfare state like California is like being a pirate in a sea of gold.
