I'm curious if now or in the future other factions will have the option to get corrupted by chaos. Like if you ally with a chaos faction you could get cultists in the form of the undercity-like outpost. That would be tempting, right? But with benefits comes corruption. Does the diplomacy system allow one to request a change in relation with a third faction? If so you could get penalties of suspected corruption from pure factions, enticing you to either corrupt allies or distance yourself from them. A nice future dlc would be to add various religions that compete with each other but unite vs chaos. A special place could be for dark elves who seek to resist Khorne by worshipping Khaine and who try to stay independent while getting power from Slaanesh. Not 100% sure, but Skaven could also try to master chaos, steal or mimic their daemonic power to become rival gods? Finally there is this huge triangle of Nagash, the other undead and the good guys opposing necromancy. I wonder what role the chaos gods play, I believe they side with and try to recruit Setthra eventually?

SPOILERS.... The sword of slanesh gives the same bonuses as sword of khaine but with 0 drawbacks... you are able to rng and get it at the last portal before the final fight in slaneshs realm

I feel like the voices of each realm when they introduce are a hint to a possible dlc character. Khorne had a overall woman's voice talking to us talking about her lord. Nurgle had a man talking of his lord's gifts and what they gave him. Slaanesh...I wanna say a woman speaking of the temptations. Tzeentch...a man speaking of changing faces so the changeling could be the next step in his plans.

While im uncertain about Slaanesh and Tzeench, for Nurgle and Khorne two big mortal characters that they both had were Festus and Valkia that could be possible candidates; Festus was a human doctor who learned the secrets of diseases from Nurgle himself, driving him mad and turning him into a wandering pox maker. Valkia was a member of a barbaric tribe who slew her father and lover following the former showing signs of weakness and became one of the best warriors in the setting, so much so that she wandered far north but was torn apart by demons, yet her courage and valor had earned her such prestige from Khorne that she was reborn as a pseudo demon prince.

@@Stolskai Dechala the Denied One she is the elven princess who feel to Slaanesh becoming corrupted and mutated by the dark gods. She has a serpentine body and multiple arms and a potion that mutates others around her. Seems like a low balling but it could help bring in some elves units like Morathi would do as well but more under Slaanesh's rule.

Sounds weird. It's not daemons who harass the Mortal Realm for their souls, but the factions of the Mortal Realms are hunting and competing for daemons' souls. Were we the real daemons of chaos all along?

The factionwide buffs throughout are even more absurd. +100% casualty replenishment globally for 15 turns, +200 control factionwide for 20 turns, hell there's even a Sword of Khaine level weapon you can pick up without any negatives attached. Honestly it feels a bit imbalanced because if you just rush here at the beginning of the game solely for the purpose of taking the bribes rather than aiming to defeat the daemon prince then you're absolutely skyrocketing your campaign

@@Kuddochan I am warrior of chaos player, in my opinion any faction should not be allowed to use the rift or enter realm of chaos except their worshipper (chaos, norsca, beastmen). Considering how many faction there will be in the grand combined campaign. It will make everything very much out of control. And of course it's just become a "battle royale in total war thing"

@@Ali-xr7su The grand campaign isn't likely to have this kind of narrative though. In the same way that Mortal Empires doesn't have the ritual mechanic of the Vortex campaign, I doubt the Realms of Chaos will be implemented in the same way in WH3's combined campaign map as it does here either

It would be wonderfull to use those rifts as portals to another place on Mortal world. It wolud be so usefull for BIG Mortal Empires map which will join 3 maps. It would let Norscans to plounder Toomb Kings. Cool sories could be played.

A very noobie question from a total noob whose fascinated by this lore: So when you arrive at each of these Chaos gods' realms, you are not actually fighting them in the end are you? It's always some champion or daemon prince of them, correct? Only in Nurgle's case i wasn't sure as @9:12 it speaks of the Lord himself.

The gods are more like ideas and concepts with a will of their own. They can choose to manifest themselves but even then cannot be wounded because they arent really physical. The only way to "hurt" one is to deny them the winds of magic. Which is like saying the only way to defeat a Hurricane is to rob it of all its air.

@@JabbaFanzz those were greater daemons of the respective gods. The greater daemons are supposed to be made in the image of their patron god, whatever that means.... but again, the gods may look however they wish, as they exist outside our reality.

I feel like what would be cooler for lord of change realm would be riddles puzzles and problems and if you get one wrong it would have a change to tp you somewhere random in his realm I feel like it would give a more maze feel to it and gift wise is fine like that slaanesh’s whole thing but if they were to do anything I feel like he Misdirect someone’s army on the map like you can just control the movement of an enemy’s army on the map not do actions or any just that tell you intentions or objectives of other factions but that one’s a bit far fetch but if you did choose one of those it should kick you out of his realm tho but regardless what they have done with this concept is great

It looks even better than what I had hoped, so if it'll be part of Mortal Empire, I know what to do with my life for 3+ years, lol. @@bcbitchkkv I cannot imagine that the Chaos realms won't be in Mortal Empire. Not sure in what capacity it would be in, though. Like, you can't really have an objective to beat all 4 Chaos champions before another faction does in ME. That would be awful as it kind of removes the sandbox feel to ME. One of my really, really big concerns is that they're going to squish the main map. I absolutely hated that the Vortex map wasn't translated into the ME map. With the rework to how quick turns are now (the rework from last year, or the year prior, I believe), I can't see why we can't have the Vortex map (specifically the missing providences) fully implemented into ME. Same with WH3's campaign map. I can't see why they wouldn't want to fully implement that in as well.

Can anyone tell me how to LEAVE the realm of chaos. I came with my army, fought like 5 chaos realm enemies and some other people, got too weak to get the objective I needed and need to head back, but all the rifts just take me to other realms for more debuffs and I can't get my Lord back home. I'm near the exact rift.i spawned in and there's no return option. Just constant traverse the rifts.

Pretty stable though framerate can... Be a little weird at times. It supports UW but the cutscenes are all 16:9 unfortunately haha. UI scaling works nicely too!

This 4 realms are interesting. I don't understand especially in english too much how this work but I know this place really exist in Warhammer lore. Personally I don't like idea with so many portals. In my opinion big open realm of chaos will be better. Some portal yes but one on the north from where deamons of chaos are coming to physical world. And how about Warriors of Chaos and Beastmans in Chaos armies invading Old World?

I’m really curious about this as the main campaign mechanic. Will it be more like the Vortex where everyone eventually realized you didn’t actually need to worry about the race to conclusion, that everyone would ultimately be stopped one way or another, and you could pursue your own campaign map growth at your leisure? Or, will they really force the action to the point that if the other factions complete the requirements, you’ll lose the game? I’m torn because I like being able to approach my campaigns at my own leisurely pace, but I also like the idea of the game really forcing the action. I like the concept of not being able to game the game, that there is a true consequence.

Hmm The rewards seem pretty unbalanced on first glance tbh :D especially because the negatives are way to easy to get rid of and not that severe in the first place. Btw are there no playable Horde Factions on Release?

A question I haven't really seen answered, what happens if someone else does beat you to a God's soul. Do they just keep it until someone else goes there the next time the rifts open then they lose it? Or do they keep it until they're wiped out?

i think it just means u have to wait till the next batch of rifts to get that particular soul. think of it like the rituals in the vortex campaign, if u fail to complete it u just have to start that particular ritual all over again

You can autoresolve the survival battles? That's a weird departure from their usual take of all end game battles and quest battles must be fought manually.

So Khrone and Slaanesh's relam look easier while Nurgles is hard and last one is mind games. Seems interesting may have to do Nurgle last because of losses while in the relam.

Having played the game now, I think Tzeentch's Realm is really unbalanced, at least in single player. Its a cool concept, assemble a map to find your way to the impossible fortress. Only thing is, you're racing against an AI that instantly knows where to go. Its not two or three people trying to see who can finish a puzzle first so much as a scavenger hunt against someone who already knows where everything is.

I don't know if this is good or bad design, but I will always be tempted to go to Slaanesh's realm to get his strong boosts. Sadly he is the only one that gives rewards, it doesn't feel like there is any reason to go to other realms, if you don't intend to finish them.

I'm not a huge fan of how much more rewarding slaaneshs realm is. Like you'll only go do the others once, and then just farm slaaneshs the rest of the game. Each realm should have a chance for thematic buffs, and slaaneshs should be toned down a bit

150 turns?! The first round of rifts should show up around turn... 25 or 30 or so if memory serves me right. This is a very strange bug if you haven't had the rifts show up yet!

I'm going to report this bug though because that's kinda game-breaking lmao. Never had it myself - sorry you have to deal with that bud! If you can shoot over a save file for me to pass to CA, that'd be great!

For the main campaign I get why they don't allow you to colonize the Chaos realms, but for Immortal Empires (or whatever it will be called) it would be cool to start in your respective realm and be able to colonize if you are one of the 4 daemons, having to battle amongst the other gods and only occasionally venturing to the mortal world; the opposite of the main campaign. Like, rifts would appear in small numbers and for very short time periods but as the turns go on, they start appearing more and more until the End Times occur and then the full deamonic invasion begins. The fact that the 4 realms are included at all was honestly more than I expected when WH3 was first announced but now that its here I want them to go the distance.

Really like the new Quality of Living mechanics in TWW3 but the genre (demons vs. devils) just does not appeal to me.

I really wish you could just ignore the Chaos Realms. I just want to conquer the entire map not have to constantly send armies into hell every 30 turns just to stay ahead of the competition. What's the point of having a huge map full of enemies if your just going to ignore it most of the time because you need to enter the Chaos Realms to retrieve souls. I'm not big on this serious diversion from the total war franchise where your goal is to conquer most of the map not go off on excursions into another realm that you can't control or manage and if you ignore you'll simply lost no matter how many provinces you conquer in the temporal world! CA seriously needs to create an alternative for those who aren't fans of Total War Tower Defense diversion missions and just want to conquer, hold, defend and expand!

Does this mean AI armies will randomly spawn from the rifts in my territory when they close?

They'll spawn in your territory if you leave them open, and you'll have to fight a battle at the rift itself to close them.

i wish thy didn't try to squish everything into 1 map & just made a bunch of maps and let u zone to them like it only takes a few minuets to walk across the map:(

The Horned Rat does not have a Chaos Realm of it's own. Rather it seems to reside in a pocket of Nurgle's realm.

Now the manual of the Warhammer P&P RPG suggested that there _might_ be connection between Khaine and Khorne, but usually Khaine is considered to reside in Mirai - the Elven Underworld - and the Cytharai - Elven God's of the Underworld - stand in sharp opposition to the Chaos Gods, unlike the Horned Rat. There is also a place in Nugle's Realm called the Lair of the 13th Lord in a region known as Gnawhame, that is usually considered to be the dwelling of the Horned Rat, but no equivanlent domain within Khorne's realm that would hint at Khaela Mensha Khaine.

I wish they added "Let AI Control My Army" I don't want to auto resolve but watch my army go into war and maybe cast a few spells here and there or control a unit here or there. We needed this feature at the very beginning of total wars, Its not fun to enjoy the battle when your heavily micro managing a massive army, and on top of that you have heroes you have to cast magic.
